Explanation on ClearRandAiExtras and ClearAiExtrasDist. [ELS]

Featured Replies

Im curretnly trying to figure out if there is a way to make AI's cars disappear after a certain amount of time due to the fact i always re-encounter AI police with flashing lights after a crime scene, backup etc.

Thats besides the point, Could somebody explain what the purpose of ClearAiExtrasDist and ClearRandAiExtras is? Kind of sounds somewhat obvious but still would like an explanation on it.

Thanks.

They are for clearing the random lights that show up on ELS cars because of the game spawning random extras. The distance is how far the script will look for random extras on ELS activated cars.

Edit: It is only used on cars with ELS activated and the ELS lights off.

ClearRandAiExtras is a part of ELS that detects and removes random extra lights from AI cars, Ai cars would patrol with random lights on in previous versions of ELS.

ClearAiExtrasDist defines the distance from the player that ELS will look for AI cop cars and remove  the random lights.

"ELS_RANGE_AI" is the setting for this. After the number entered (in meters), all AI units outside of that radius from the player will disappear.

However, if you set the range too small backup will be spawned then directly deleted.

Ah perfect :D

@c13 So would I increase or decrease the number if I wanted the cops with random lights on to dissapear? Whats a suitable number so they will still spawn for backup or pursuits and such but dissapear shortly after?

Thanks for the answers.

The number is the distance at which they will disappear, so if you want them to disappear more then you would lower the number.

I noticed the default number always makes backup units disappear before they can show up, so I turned mine up way high so they will always spawn. But since you want the cars to disappear then you'll obviously want something lower. You could just play around with the number until you find a suitable one.

I would say 400, but it would be dependent on your own game. The default one, if you haven't messed with it, would be better for what you're trying to accomplish, but often times backup will disappear before utilized. I currently have the setting at 800, but I like simulating long responses to pursuits.
