in holland its legal to track a phone number as the phone (incl mobile phones) registry is a "open source", but when the number is "a secret number" you can not find any info  

 

as for the investigation nice job    had to do the same thing to help a famaly member once  bu then i had the ways for my self (used to be military police (in holland military police have border patrol and police tasks inbedded in their tasks)

There are million of sites out there that allow you reverse look up a number, its not illegal. Numbers arnt considered private, they are a public access...

If you reverse look up a cell phone number it will tell you the last location it was used, or in the general area. What I did was 100% legal and I only used legal resources...

 

It just so happen to be last used in her house, that's what made this so easy...

Seems shady to me, but I live in Sweden and the regulations might be different here. I haven't heard of that being possible, except by triangulation.

Cause i'm not paying $15 to look up a phone number when my friend can do it for free...

I just used that site on my own number. It just said "***** Wireless Mobile", and gave a city and state which, while it's where I used to live and where the area code would track to, is actually not even in the right state, or bordering the right state. Cell phone numbers in the US are all unlisted - that's why you can't call 411 and get the number. It actually is not open source for cell phones. If it's been used by them online, you can sometimes track it to them, but you still can't get the location unless they specifically gave it out, you work for the telecom, you work for an intelligence agency, or you can break into their networks and are willing to commit a felony in order to track the number.

I shouldn't of used the word Track, I should of used the word pin point to the last known area... It doesn't tell you the exact spot it is located but it tells you the general area. But yes its legal, now tracking is illegal that's why i'm regretting using the word tracking...

If you read anything I said, my friend found the last knowing area. But from what I heard its the same way facebook/meetme track your location.

Sorry but if you tracked that guy with his cell # without him knowing you had it,   and if you tracked his movements  without a warrant  or anything etc   then its almost certain 100% illegal

you also looked /researched into his back ground/ personal info  and used in to you advantage  which is a step to far and a step most normal people don't take

 

Hell if that guy wanted to he could file stalking / cyber stalking charges against you, among other possible other charge's as well

could even get a restraining order against you

 

I your looking to go into law enforcement when you get older this is the type of shit that  doesn't look good on you if it comes out in the process,  and trust me some1 as some1 who is going through the process of getting hired into a PD they check any and everything bout you

 

 

 

I would strongly advised   that any1 thinking of doing themselves what Dark Angel did to rethink it
