I have literally tried everything. I have contacted every possible customer support that was involved with GTA IV PC, (Steam, Microsoft, and R*) numerous times about my issue but nothing has arisen as to a resolution, and I'm turning to you guys for help. I have already talked to ineseri for a time about the problem I am having and he has helped my as best he could, and I greatly thank him for it. But the issue, I cannot get GTA IV to run on my pc at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled every component that ahs to deal with GTA IV, meaning GFWL, Steam, GTA IV itself, C++ 2005, and .NET Framework 4.5. I am running Windows 8.1 on a brand new computer. And by brand new, I mean I've had it from the factory for just under 2 days. I've run GTA IV in every compatability mode and as an administrator, but nothing is working. I really do love this mod, and the community itself, and it is soooo frustrating not being able to play. I have dealt with almost 10 hours of customer support and being put on hold, I am literally at my wits end. I've even resulted to doing a factory reset on the computer and reinstalling Win8.1 from scratch with the provided discs. I am looking for any sort of help at all possible.

Please help...

Try a clean install, no mods whatsoever. No scripthook, no ASI loader, no car mods, nothing. Does *that* work?

It is a clean install. The only thing I have installed is LCPDFR. And I don't know why I installed it because I can't even get GTA IV to actually start without having any mods on it.

EDIT:Is it also possible to downgrade my PC from Win8.1 to Win7? I hate Windows 8/8.1 and I'm going to assume that GTA's compatibility, or lack there of, with Windows 8.1 is going to be the root of the problem.

It isn't a clean install, then. LCPDFR is a mod. The presence of LCPDFR means you do not have a clean install.

If GTA fails to start with mods, try no mods. If that doesn't work, then you should sort that out. Only once GTA runs with no mods should you try to launch with mods.

GTA IV doesn't even start. With or without mods. I have been running through customer support after customer support for 2 days.

Can you be more specific as to what your problem actually is? Does it give you any errors or does it just not start and then not give any errors or what?

It literally does not start. It gives no error messages. Nothing. When I open Task Manager to see if anything happens, LaunchGTAIV.exe opens then immediately closes inside the Task Manager.

EDIT: Posted this before I saw your last reply, Erm...thats a problem and really I cant think of any reason that would happen besides your OS not being compatible, even if you ran compatibility mode...

Just make sure you run the launcher as admin, and set GTAIV.EXE to automaticly run as admin and compatibility mode for windows 7 (Rightclick>Compatibility>Run as administrator checkbox>Compatibility mode windows 7).

If it ran fine on your last computer, before this one then obviously its your specs or OS causing it, or your forgetting something that was required to run it...

EDIT2 (Possible fix):

Did you read the sticky on how to run gta on pc (Windows 8)? Theres a downloadable patch in there, I had to do that to get mine to work. - '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

Sorry for the caps, lock, I was entering a serial for another game. But I've set every executable file in the root folder to run as an administrator and in Win7 compatibility mode, but it still won't start. I've downloaded all necessary files/patches for the game to work correctly, and all patches as well, but it still doesn't start.

Upgrade GFWL, that's what fixed it for me. So you have the patch updater, you updated your game and you also have GFWL installed and logged into? If so, then Im stumped. Honestly an odd situation.

just make sure you re-download GFWL and login with it, then launch your game.

I'm already running the latest version of GFWL.

@Sonny236 I have GFWL downloaded, I have logged into it via the start menu shortcut, but I can't even get GTA IV to start up in order to log into GFWL in-game

Just try it, it won't hurt. Fixed the exact problem you had, when I had it.

I just tried it about a half hour ago. And I tried it 3 times last night while on the phone with Microsoft support.

Did you try and delete it and then re-install GFWL?

EDIT: Also once you try to install it again then install in Windows 7 compatibility.
