I do like the style, but not what's under the skin. I personally think they should offer an updated 4.6, with cylinder deactivation for better gas mileage as a performance option.

I don't like these. They look smaller, probably won't be as heavy which is bad for attempting to push or spin out other cars, fuel economy isn't much to write home about (as discussed above) and although its turbocharged, it's only a 6 cylinder. I'd rather have higher horse power and more cylinders all the time than a turbocharger. Every half a second counts during acceleration to catch up to a motorcycle or a sports car with a dangerous driver.

Isn't the best upgrade but hey, at least its an upgrade

the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

For me, I still believe that this is not a patrol car.  The PD here where I live are complaining about how uncomfortable they are, but they do ride good.  Also, these have more blind spots than the crown vic.  Ford made a huge mistake discontiuing the Crown Vic.  Maybe they will wise up and return to the Crown Vic model somehow.

i am not a big fan of these i think the cvpi looks better. and its is not  body on frame so they are not so easy to fix

My mother who is an RCMP Officer loves her Taurus, the door opens at a 90 degree angle, all- wheel drive, and one of her co-workers has the dash set to control all the lights/sirens, makes it a lot easier for her to focus and drive when going "code-3" they also have it set for the radio, press a button start talking, no more driving with one hand on the wheel one hand on a radio going 160kmph to a serious incident! Makes me happy, I want my mom safe!

I've seen it in person to, very mean looking in the RCMP livery. My mother works in a snow infested area, and when it gets bad she would actually take our family SUV to certain scenes because it was simply to dangerous to use the crown vic, now she says the Taurus goes through anything.

Wait, are these for public sale? Or is this for fleet purchasing only? If you can buy one though... #Seemslegit

There are no Federal or State laws "that I can recall" that would stop civilians from purchasing police package based vehicles. However, Ford, GM and Chrysler have policies in place stopping dealers from saleing PP-Vs to the general public - but there is no guarantee they wouldn't. On top of that, many law enforcement agencies across the US, tend to sale their old decommissioned vehicles to the general public - through their respective city auctions sales.

Certain emergency lighting arrangements and pseudo police fascia designs will get you in major trouble though... if you adorn these after the fact. But you guy/gals already knew this... lol

Too nice looking for the police they need a more rugged looking car not a shiny Mercedes looking car

I just came from getting my dads truck modified at a performance shop, and thier catalog had rad and blue lighting options for vehicle modifications. I guess that they would be for volunteerfirefighters, EMS and Undecover. BTW, the OPP detachment at my town just got rid of ALL their vics and replaced them with a mix of Chargers, Taurus and ONE Caprice slicktop. If I can get a picture I will upload it. Oh, and forgot to add the Ram 3500 Pursuit. XD

It is technically illegal in Ontario under the highway traffic act to put emergency lights on a vehicle unless otherwise designated. IE. Emergency, construction or security etc. In legal standards putting any light other than lights already stocked to a car, and a front "search" light is technically illegal but poorly enforced in Ontario. Same with window tints, not heavily enforced. But I have had friends add silly lights to there cars, whether it be a flashing light, or a license plate light = ticket-able in Ontario, and illegal under the highway traffic act.

I also know that it is very close in Canada under the CC to "Impersonating a police officer" which is an Indictable offence ("felony"). But in the states that would vary state to state.

They CAN legally sell you red/blue lights, but it ENTIRELY on you if you get caught with them, they could even sell you a red/blue lightbar if you wanted one, you'd just have to drive white the "out of service" cap that comes with it whilst driving.

Must be different here, I have an 03 Crown Vic ex cop car, 2 tail light strobes and 2 white headlight strobes, a guy was broke down on a busy street during morning rush hour and people wouldn't stop honking, so I zipped in behind him and flipped my strobes on and everyone shut up, anywho, next thing I know I see red/blue lights, the Officer gets out of his cruiser, looks at all my lights and asks me" buddy of yours?" I said no he just broke down, and he let me go, my point is, there shouldn't be any reason why you can't have them if you're just showing them off, or someone needs help (broke down) as long as you don't abuse it, which that was the second time I used them in public, if i'm changing a ladies tire on the side of the road at 10PM when i'm just driving by, I want people to be able to see me so both me and her get to go home, you never know what a driver is doing in their car.
