9-11-01 never forget

Featured Replies

I respect those who lost their lives in 9-11, but you can't even compare 9-11 to the World Wars, WW1 and WW2 actually served a purpose (though violence really serves no purpose) 9/11, was a massacre and low blow to the United States that no one saw coming, everyone who died there, were the ones who signed up to save peoples' lives, and that's what they did, they served their purpose right to the bitter end, people can be remembered without flashing lights and big services, i'm sure they will always be in the hearts of the brothers in blue, FD as well the Paramedics of New York and those close to them, and that's all that matters in the end..

Side not: I think that's the most respectful post I've ever typed (lol)

  • No offense but it's been 12 and you people should think in the future, move on. I know the attack was a hard blow for the american people, but you won't get anything looking back and carrying the pain

  • Offense taken  its a kinda holiday outta respect for 1st responders in addition to all those who lost their lives that day  in addition its a Nation Holiday / day of remembrance and service     2

  • I really wanted to do something for the 12th anniversary, yet I had no idea. The very least I could do is make one of the hero trucks. I had more planned though couldn't do the project anymore because

It's never wrong to think back of the worst and learn from it. Now, there's not much moral when we speak about 9/11, but thinking for one minute in remembrance is not only a sollace for the family but it means a lot to them as well.

WOII is also still being remembered, it's been 68 years already. Do you really think those veterans say; ''Why do we still do this..?''

Not really, I've been to a memorial recently.

Now, what if it was your parent/nurser who died because of, as an example, a car accident? Would you say; ''Why do we still think of her?'' even thought the incident would have happened either 12 or 68 years ago?

Terrible events never age.

One of my uncle's wife died in a car accident years ago. He moved on with the time, fought the pain, and now he has a fantastic family. But what if he had lived these all years just thinking in the tragedy, would he had continued with his life or instead he would live in pain?

Honestly, after that many time, commemorations should be left to the families of those who died and who were closely affected by the incidents. I'm sick of watching in TV over and over the same footage of the planes blowing up, the same interviews of these who didn't go to job and survived. And I'm sure that the familes of the fallen don't want to see over and over the people jumping from the windows and the towers falling down, which I'm sure that just gives them painful memories. In addition, like C13 has mentioned, the 9/11 and the feeling it has left in the american society, has been used by the government to justify a lot of actions that by one hand, reduce the liberties and rights of mainly the americans and by other hand, cause a lot of more innocent victims around the world.

For the people saying forget it,its been 12 years blah blah...well its been nearly 100 years since WW1 and we still remember and hold events for it to this day and always will.

Just realised that this has been said.

What I'm definitely seeing here is multiple ways of processing grief. Some try to keep distance from it, others try to remember it.

I'm a supporter of both to be honest because for me it depends on the situation.

But let's just try to keep both alternatives respected. No need to crack it down, everyone's different.

There's really no need to tear each other apart because someone has a different opinion about how 9/11 should be remembered.  No matter who you are or what your opinion is, this is not a time for fighting.  You do not honor those who lost their lives by fighting among  yourselves.

Wow, pretty mature for your part calling me dumb ass because my thoughts of how this day should be remembered disagree with yours. Read my previous post before talking shit. And this goes for every of you who acted the same way.

Have you all a nice day, sirs.

Oh, I feel so offended for living in a cityand actually thinking about things... I'll repeat you, learn what respect is. Even if you are a redneck who lives in a shack in the middle of a corn field of Arkansas I guess you have the intellectual capacity to know what opinions are. Otherwise, I don't understand why you are in a forum.

Now let's stop going off-topic;)

For everyone who says "its been 12 years" I am sorry, but the American people SHALL never forget, and even implying it, I as well as many others take huge offense to it. from growing up at young age seeing it, not understanding at the time, and for a while living in fear, it makes it personal. When an attack takes the lives of so many innocent civilians/first responders at once, it is overwhelming and something hard to even grasp.
As for who said "the forgotten first responders" No one is forgotten, but when you lose several hundred at once, it takes notice. This thread is about those of us who want to honor this day, and the memory of all lost on this tragic day.

So if you have nothing good to say, STAY OFF THIS TOPIC.

Sorry for the rant:

There is an Orange County Fire Authority Firefighter, who every year puts flags, and crosses in his yard. 1 Flag for each civilian, 1 Cross for every First Responder, and now flags for people who died as a result (chemical in the air, dust, ect.) and future plans are to have a flag for all service men and women who died in the line of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. This man is a true patriot, and has my respect.

Offense taken. Don't you dare tell me what to remember, and what not to. If someobody's father died in one of those towers, do you want them to just forget him? Think about what you post before you post it, and have some consideration for others. Damn.

This. While I feel for the victims and family that day, I hate having 9/11 brought up every time the government needs more power or wants to invade another country.

I also find it ironic that the bills passed after 9/11 were for targeting Al-Qaeda domestically, but we're about to bomb Syria in order to support Al-Qaeda overseas.

  1. I'm sorry, I must have mis-read. Did you just say we are going to bomb Syria to support Al-Qaeda? We are not going to do anything for sure.
  2. We would not "bomb" them anyways, it would be a targeted air-strike.
  3. How in the hell does eliminating Syria's chemical weapons cache, support Al-Qaede?

MODERATOR NOTICE
Enough bashing -- this goes for both sides.  The next person to continue or start an argument gets their post hidden or worse.  It would be a shame to have to close a thread dedicated to remembrance because some people can't stand it when other people have differing opinions.

I think everyone should just stop bickering like a bunch of teenage girls, everyone has their OPINION which they are entitled too as well as voicing it, if you don't like it, too bad, simple as that, just because strike voices his opinion does that mean ANYONE is going to do what he say's? no, it doesn't, which is why it's an OPINION, I say again, which he is entitled to..
