Was surfing the web and came across this article on the New York Times. I don't know if any of you have read it but it really kinda hit a soft spot and I thought I'd share it with everyone here. Give it a read, it's quite touching.

I don't care what anyone says. The CVPI will go down in history as the greatest police car of all time in my opinion. I'd rather drive a CVPI than any AWD Taurus Interceptor EcoBoost or 5.7L Hemi Charger Pursuit.

It's a shame to see the Crown Vic go, but all good things must come to an end at some point I guess. Too bad I've never seen one in real life though.

I have yet to see a Canadian Agency purchase a Caprice. I guess Canadian agencies just like to stick to Dodge or Ford 

Now I'm sad.

I read about this somewhere a few days back, but it still strikes a tear to read it.

I'm sure we will all miss the CVPI most dearly.

You're so right, I have never installed one of the other interceptors in Gta iv, because I don't like them so much as the CVPI. For me, the CVPI ist THE Police Car and it will take years until a Police Car is built, that i can love so much as the Crown Vic.

Just think of it this way, they stop making it to make a better and safer car for law enforcement. 

The crown vic is bullet proof, in my opinion, you pretty much need a boat such as the CVPI or OLD Caprice, nowadays everything is so much more compact and cramped with JUST enough room to fit you're equipment, at least there will still be trucks and SUV's that can provide this, it was the GO-TO Patrol vehicle, now there are 3 different types of future "iconic interceptors"? Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus & Chevrolet Caprice? doesn't make much sense..

OK, seriously? The CVPI was around for just under 20 years. For the first 10 or so, the Caprice was more often considered the stereotypical law enforcement vehicle. It's not like this is some super-long-standing tradition - there were a few years where it was really the only patrol vehicle, but it was dangerous in rear impacts, had terrible fuel economy, and cas considered by many to be inferior to the car it generally replaced.

Well, they could always use the same body and chassis and just keep all the safety features, electronics and under the hood all up to date. I don't see the problem with a Crown Vic bearing the new MyFord touch system along with a nice new fuel efficient 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 that puts out 26 city/45 hwy/35 combined mpg and 305HP with an optional upgrade to the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 that puts out 24 city/36 hwy/29 combined mpg at 420HP. Those are both mustang engines and I'm sure Ford Fleet of America and Canada could find a way to put both those engines along with new Ford features (MyFord Touch, Rear View Camera, Hands-Free Liftgate, Torque Vectoring Control, Active Grille Shutters) into a body on frame panther platform car.

I agree completely. Like in the article, the officer says he is a 6'4 man, like there just isn't enough room in any of these uni-body compact so called "interceptors" to house all the traffic equipment, emergency weapons, laptop, hell even a K9 dog all in the same car. The only next-gen police car that can do this at the moment is the Ford Interceptor Utility. I'm not done growing yet and I'm 6'2 and I plan on being a police officer for my local police deptartment... I just hope theres enough room in the cars for me :P

I know, the part where he relates the car to the way he puts on his hat to the way he polishes his button. It's all about keeping a perfect public image. I like how it mentions how the CVPI's grille is enough to make people know it's a police car.

Also, Being from Australia, I can't really say much about the CVPI but, I think it is a great car and is the Icon of Ford, Just like the Falcon over here. every time I think of Ford for the US I think of the Crown Vic

Technically yes, but the car is mostly Australian and branded as a Holden over here. They just swap out the Holden badges for Chevy ones when they import it.

Yep the CVIP was the best, no doubt about it. A nd it was sad every time Hollywood would destroy one in a movie.

Yes. Mostly due to the fact that every cop in every movie drives like a 7 year old playing need for speed. But oh well :P

now that i think about it, my grandpa bought a new one in I think 1999, i loved that car and drove it like 2 times and took it to about 100mhp, and it would almost keep up with my mustang.

but Grandpa didn't keep it that long. but he did tell me  "That was one of the best cars He ever had" He past away in 2010 and he was a very smart man.

Yeah I hate when people always criticize the Crown Vic for being an "old people's" car. Like I know a lot of younger guys that wouldn't mind owning one and they're pretty bad ass cars. V8 engine, rear wheel drive, beefed up suspension, everything about the CVPI is just badass
