  • You have to disable write protection for your gta iv folder I believe. Right-click on your gta iv folder and go to properties, then uncheck Write-Protection.

  • You need to be and run the game as an administrator for it to work. Also, make sure you are running the latest patch.

  • You go to the GTA IV install directory, right click GTAIV.exe and click the tab called "Details". Under version is your current patch. If it's not 1.0.7.0, you need to go to this link:  http://suppo

If you search around on the forums, you will find the solution to that problem. If you move your entire GTA IV installation directory to a place that you own, i.e your desktop, you can change the properties there and then move it back to its original place! :)

thanks

i did that but still the same thing it keeps making itself read only ?

also do i need ELS ? or is that just something different ?

i've downloaded G7 IV DIAGNOSTICS and it keeps crashing when i try to scan gta iv ?

also does the gta iv story have to be complete for the mod to work ???

i have followed the advice youve provided ineseri.

I am having a similar problem

i updated the game and the other things but i get this error when i try to launch the game.

Exception EFCreate error in module DSOUND.dll at 000116C5.

Cannot create file "C:Program Files (x86)Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto IVasilog.txt" Access is Denied.

Any ideas?

Ultimate cool guy: ,

  1. ELS stands for Emergency Lightning System, it's a mod unrelated to LCPDFR
  2. You need to be the administrator for that to work.
  3. Run the diag tool as an administrator and see if what works.

Officer Stone:

You need to run the game as an administrator, since you are getting an access denied error.

already done that and no success also i am still getting the same message as earlier the one similar to officer stone even though im using the admin account

any ideas ???

Well, if all else fail: Uninstall GTA IV, apply the latest patch and run the game. Make sure it works. Then, install one mod at a time and run the game after each newly added mod to make sure it works. ALWAYS run installers and the main game as administrator (or just disable UAC on Windows 7).

Are you running the game as admin, using the admin account sometimes isn't enough. You need to right click LaunchGTAIV.exe then select "Run as administrator". That should fix your problem.

@ trewq34 thanks the game has finally launched :) also do i have to do this every time ???

and thanks to every one else who has given me advice on how to fix this problem you have all been really helpful thanks :)

Yes you do, unless you disable UAC.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

how do i do that ?

Press START type into the search box "UAC" and click the first and only link and make sure the slider is fully to the bottom and click OK. It may ask you to restart your PC in which case you should do.
