What do I use to make cars?

For custom skins, you will need a model and a template for the model. You can use basically any image manipulation program, however Paint is not recommended. Try GIMP or if you have it Photoshop. This is a useful tutorial if you're new to texturing. I'd recommend not releasing your first couple of textures as it's possible that they won't be of a high quality and might damage your reputation as a texture artist in the future.

Adding lightbars to an unlocked model barely takes any time. If you want to get into modeling, I'd suggest download some unlocked parts and cars and fool around in zmodeler to learn how to use it (also you can read the tutorials here and on the zmodeler website). Then, once you are proficient with zmodeler, I'd suggest releasing something that is unique, not just a combination of unlocked parts and cars, because there are tons of those already. You could even convert some cars to gta IV and release them, which will set you apart and help you gain a good reputation. It does take a lot of time to convert and make things, so don't get frustrated. :)

you need a paid copy of Zmodller2 o exoport the gta file type which is .wft (do not get Zmod3 it dose not support .wft) t

This is true. Hopefully, however, being a beginner won't hold anyone back from jumping in the deep end. The water is fine. I am doing it and although there were some setbacks I am still pushing forward.

 

@OP There is a community here that is willing to help, at least, but be prepared to do some heavy lifting on your own. If you start gluing other peoples parts on other peoples cars, that won't teach you to model anything. Eventually, you will need to venture out on a different path to learn scratch modeling, why not start day one? The ONLY two things that it requires is patience (the tools, of course) and the will to do something different. The tutoring is available ALL OVER THE WWW, you just have to look for it.

 

I will happily answer any questions you may have (that I have answers for), shoot me a PM if you need specific help.

Yes and No. You can use pictures, however you may get a bit of perspective problems in the proportions as a result. That said, blueprints are freely available all over the WWW. The majority of the tutorials out there will explain this step in the early stages. Half of my current project was done without and BP's.
