Prison Architect

Featured Replies

Definitely not GTA or maybe it is, since GTA started out as top down 2d game. Anyways worth looking into it if you want to experience the other side of Law and Order where you run a Prison. Beware it is early Alpha but it looks promising and it is really fun to play... especially ones you figured out how to make them big bucks (-_-)

http://www.youtube.com/Faracus I show off PA here as well. I do enjoy the game, and it is getting better every update. I believe it's worth the money. (I even got the $40 package)

I agree, it is well worth the money, Nice Videos by the way!

You can tell that there is a lot of love that goes into this game, which is why I sometimes think that 7 times out of 10 Indie games will  be better when it comes to creativity than a AAA game ever will

PA is a lot of fun, but I don't feel as if the 30 dollar price tag is justified, yet. It's getting close though.

I bought it because I like playing a game that is constantly evolving, it's nice to get new tools to play around with once a month. I have put in 50 hours into the game on the Steam copy and probably another 50 hours on the non-steam copy I had before the game was added to Steam.

It's a challenge to begin with, there's next to no tutorial so you have to guess your way though some of it, it's a lot of fun though.

Be prepared to fail and for the game to bug out as it's still in alpha. My prisoners seem to "fight" a lot in the showers and in the canteen. Generally parts of the prison where they're packed close to other inmates.

I thoroughly enjoyed the addition of workshops in Alpha 9, the cleaning cupboard and laundry room certainly need some tweaking and bug fixing-

I'd recommend the game for people who like tycoon/sim city type games as it is genuinely fun.

Yes Showers are a danger zone. They don't like being too close while naked....makes sense to me :P

A9's addition of working workshops killed the easy money cheat, and since I've found the difficulty more challanging, and I'm actually enjoying playing it again.

I love these style of games, I was a huge fan of Theme Hospital, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper the likes.

I usually give myself a nice handy bunch of money when I start out because I could never seem to get a prison working without running bankrupt, but the workshops pretty much eliminates the need for it once I have them in.

It does help that my prisons are usually something reminiscent of a North Korean work camp  with the inmates getting eight hours of sleep, eat twice a day, shower once a day and have one hour of free time a day, the rest of the time is spent making those lovely numberplates.

Have you tryed with the Global Financial Crisis mod? I am interested in trying it, but I'm having problems with the latest mod, and I'm glad that Riots are now back in A10. This could lead to some interesting videos :)

Riots, oh god the riots.....

My record so far is 3 riots a day, my prison looked like this:

I haven't tried any mods for PA, the base game itself is still enough of a challenge as they essentially rewrite core mechanics every month. I recorded a couple of PA videos this weekend which will be up over the few weeks, I'm not sure there's any riots involved though.

The new anger system is really nice, it somehow manages to add a nice atmosphere after a riot, I'm anticipating another big fight.

There is a couple of balance issues in this build, riots breed riots as people are angry, they riot instead of getting their needs met, then you put the prison in bangup, forcing the obedient prisoners to go back to their cells and keep them locked away.

The riot coppers roll in and Rodney King it up, leaving many people for the paramedics to treat and then they need to go to solitary.

The inmates can't actually take care of the needs they had in the first place, it only gets worse as they are isolated in solitary, they come out and try to resolve a need but they end up in another fight and it repeats.

Not mentioning that the guards aren't thinking, our manual orders should override any action they are doing, at the very least we need a way to evacuate normal guards from a group of rioting inmates. I have lost way, way too many guards because they were fighting 10 rioting inmates, thank god for auto save and save file editing....

Its a good game buti dont know why but this PA game always reminds me of the awesome series Prison break.... thanks to that series id rather play a prison break game rather than some  Prison Architect.. Lol

Hahaha, I know same here. Everytime I play I am thinking how scofield would use this or that to get out. The sad part is, at this point there is not much content object wise in game. I am waiting for Watchtowers.

Would be nice to build a second Sona though =)

I gotta get this game.  Looks most excellent!

DrDetroit

It is a pretty awesome game, with each new Alpha some bugs get squished, and new features (and some bugs) get added, but the features are always making this game better and better each time.

yea, that is basically what my problem is, I didn't get the laundry in right away and found out the hard way that they don't like dirty clothes hahaha, so I'm hoping over the next episode or two my laudry room will start working at capacity and the fights will slowly come down to calm again.

I don't even have a Psychologist yet, the repairs are keeping my budget low hahaha.

I believe I used to play a game called Prison Tycoon a few years back. It seems really similar to this!!
