Possible suggestions for ELS7

Recommended Posts

I'm just trying to make suggestions and get feed back from people on what they think of my suggestion for ELS7. I hear alot of people talking about how they don't like ELS7 but then again they do..... well i have a couple suggestion on how to make it more realistic per-say. Im a police officer and i guess it could be i just like they way my department has things set up but below is a list of possible suggestions.

1) The three different light setting once you press (J) to activate like setting one should go in this order.

  • 1) Rear red / blues with warning lights
  • 2) front and back red / blues, warning lights and wig wags
  • 3) front and back red /  blues, warning lights, wig wags and siren
  • (Or make it to were people can customize the setting when they press (J)

2) The primary light patterns seem like they are warning light patterns for the most part..... possibly add actual directional patterns to the warning lights.

3) Light patterns are still some what slow (faster then ELS6) for MP game play.... But once sirens are activated everyone can see each others patterns in real time.

Again these are just a couple suggestions. As for me I love ELS7 and im sure their will be another update to address some issues but over all I love ELS7 and look forward to much much more.

I suggested this to Lt.Caine twice during the testing phase, it's unfortunately not possible due to the huge ammount of coding it would take. ELSv7 is built around the way lightstages work now, if Caine was to change that, he would have to rewrite most of the code from scratch.

I'm sorry, but could you try to rephrase that? I don't really understand what you mean.

the primary red / blues (depending which vehicles set up you have) if you go through the patterns there are alot of patterns that look like they should be directional patterns (telling traffic to move to the left or right) for the warning lights. Does that make a little more sense?

i would have really liked to see the lighting stages set like i suggested.... but that probably has a big part to do with the fact that im so used to it. What about making it to where we could possibly cutomize the stages?

You can't change too much; you can change the patterns, but you can't make the primaries go on on stage 2. Caine gave me the same response (ELS is built around the stages) when I asked if we could make a car skip a stage according to an ini setting, so it seems like it'd be hard to change much about the stages.

The primaries do have some patterns that are intended to be directional. Are you saying you want more?

Just a heads up: You can change the modes of primary lights to LED, Strobe and Halogen. According to what you select in the .ini, you have different patterns to choose from.

i did not know going into the ini and changing from led to strobe would make a difference as far as patterns go. thank you for that and i will test it out. like i said over all i love els7

Yeah, that's actually pretty much the whole impact of the lighting type - it changes what sorts of patterns are offered. Glad to hear you like the mod!

This doesn't relate directly to changing ELS.   But i am wondering if maybe the car modelers can use some creative tweaking to get your desired light stage setup.

120% CONJECTURE -  i do not have knowledge of GTA vehicle modeling or real police equipment.  I would like to contribute or throw out ideas when i can.

I apologize if i am not understanding correctly what parts or equipment you are describing.

So...

Pressing [J] the first time turns on your car's secondaries(SECL).    So the modeler would design them to turn on the traffic advisor/warning lights and also the rear part of the lightbar.

Check PIC #1 at the bottom of post.

When you hit [K] now it will enable the yellow lighting and the red and blue of the rear lightbar.

** Main downside is you will not have a way to turn on just the traffic advisor/amber lights all by itself.

Pressing [J] the second time turns the WRNL along with the SECL.   Now the modeling for WRNL lights should be the wig wags and the full lightbar FRONT and BACK(yes i know it is duplicated from the first step).  So if you wanted the traffic advisor(SECL) off at the back,  the WRNL lights using the same position and lights will take over for the rear lighting.  So it will still look normal.

Check PIC #2

Pressing [J] the third time will turn on PRML / SECL / WRNL.   So the primaries will be modeled in to fill in any extras or missing lights.

Check PIC #3

And i guess you can duplicate it to turn on other parts from the SECL or WRNL to give you a shortcut or unique light setup.

it doesnt give you the logical progression or stage setup.   it breaks up the lighting into separate parts,   but it gives you the customization you want?

Cheers,

(i hope i didnt waste an hour thinking up something that isn't possible to model..)

The issue with that idea is that WRNL only contains 2 extras, while PRML contains 4. Two extras severely restricts the variety of patterns you can use (the way the script works, each light is part of an extra, and all the lights in the same extra turn on and off at the same time).

nice post,   cp702.   Someone who knows what they are talking about,  unlike me .   The missing links in my theory.

Well maybe someone else will find a way to juggle the lights around in a certain way to make it work or to give more options.
