Routine Police Work

Jordan

Recommended Posts

I would like to see more routine type police work (follow ups, non-urgent suspect contacts at station, etc) and maybe less pursuits when performing traffic stops. I think it would be cool if pursuits occurred much less often so that it would be more of a surprise and more realistic....I might be the only one though lol.

LCPDFR is not a real police simulator. And it would only be boring if you keep talking to people that repeat the same lines.

I may be putting up a few short tutorials on more average police work duties you can perform while not answering call outs. I'll see what I can record.

I always like to do some non-urgent calls that I create myself. I also stay on one island and the let that be my district that I patrol. Don't forget to do your community policing too and get out on foot! Stop by the ER, a restaurant, and other accessible buildings. Check out some of my patrol log photos in the gallery for some ideas :)

Lately since xGessx helped me make a Sheriff skin, I've been taking a car all around LC since it's a county. Lets me be flexible.

Also, remember that the best patrol pattern is no pattern. Make it random, with the occasional direct patrol in your zones hotspots. I also use my alley lights to check the dark seedy areas. Our agency, Liberty County PD, has been enforcing a new law that allows us to arrest hobos and drug users who are squatting in these areas. I usually go out there frisk em and send them on there way, or arrest them if they get mouthy or don't leave.

And if you are having trouble chosing a patrol location or hotspot you could go by this map:

Dude that's sweet. I've never seen that.

To the OP: Just be creative. I'm a total nerd when it comes to rp in this game. I've made up laws, command staff, dispatchers, and even newspaper stories to enhance my experience!

I agree with you Jordan I too would like to see more routine work. Role-play definately has it's place but it can only go so far without a little support from the game. You could always have a look at this which I put together: http://www.crimegen.site90.net/mainlogin.php

I think that is an absolutely brilliant idea!

Basically, LCPDFR is great, and easily keeps me entertained, but a dispatch with alot of diversity would be awesome. I've thought of a few missions I will suggest for the next version of LCPDFR, after the feature freeze, however as I understand it, they are working on the AI and core of the mod, rather than various missions and features.

I do have alot of ideas for missions, for fire, paramedics and mainly police. Some of my ideas are inspired from other games, i.e. Emergency 4 / 911 First Responders, both vanilla and with various modifications.

I also have some experience with PHP and MySQL, but I think I'd rather not commit myself too much, as I wont have alot of sparetime on my hands forever. :p Give me a shout if you'd like to talk about some missions and such. I think your site could be a great addition to LCPDFR gameplay, especially if more players are playing multiplayer. I do think one thing you should make is an auto-refresh script. Alot of people, like myself, have dual monitor setups, and can easily have your page displayed next to the game (which would feel just like the in-car computer), but clicking anything will task-switch. If it autoupdates, that isn't an issue though :)

New Missions are in the work, just because they're not implemented in 0.95B1 it doesn't mean they're not there. And from what I could see from the translations, the new callouts will be awesome. Really looking forward to the next builds :D

Yeah, a common misconception is that 0.95B1 is in a "final" stage where anything you see in it is what will end up being there in the end. This simply is not true, who knows what may be implemented by the time it is finally finished.

This indeed is a really nice site you have made up. Definitely going to use that in a way or an another.

If you need any support with PHP/SQL/HTML/Javascript don't hesitate to PM me. I'm always willing to help. For starters I suggest that you should consider abandoning those tables and start using divs instead (or then improve how tables are displayed, 'cause - at least my - FF don't show them correctly).

Very nice site! Really adds a lot of realism when roleplaying. Couldn't such a system be implemented in LCPDFR, like a sort of crime statistics system?

The LCPDFR community would become a police force on its own!
