Everyone seems to forget that police are people. Just like all of us. They have personalities. Some of them look at their job and think of it as just a job. Some of them think of it as a career and put a bit more into it. Some of them look at it as their calling in life, and have passion for it. That can make a difference between a cop who responds to a BDV and writes a report, one who responds to a BDV and gives the victim a card with a number to call for help, and one who checks in on that victim once in a while to see if they're doing alright. A person who follows up, so to speak. It's usually the first of those three that gives police a bad reputation as ticket givers, fear breeders and just plain a-holes. Every officer has a different personality, and you're going to see it on every call response and every traffic stop.

A lot of my peers hate police. And that saddens me, honestly. I've only had one bad experience with a traffic stop, and it hasn't detoured me. My interest in the job is genuine. I'm not sure if I should call it curiosity or not, but I think I'd feel good while on the job. Something I'd enjoy doing down at an emotional level, which would make me strive to be a good worker, and someone who gives a damn. And that's the most important thing for me if it's a career that I follow for the rest of my life. I need to enjoy it and have fun with what I'm doing.

You nailed it there. That's exactly what you're taught at the university. At least I was. Sadly enough, in Belgium it's even worse when it comes to respect for

police officers. Due to lack of good selection criteria we end up with a lot of officers of the first kind like you said.

As 1Adam3 said, you have to take charge as a police officer, as a lot of people will not respect you or will not be as understanding as you.

At least that's the case in belgium ;-)

When someone is laying injured on the ground, just make sure you revive them instead of heading to the hot dog vendor on the side of the street like the AI ones in GTA IV. lol

Sorry to doublepost. Supposed to be an edit but it didn't let me.

I was gonna say that the work paramedic, sounds interesting to me, and also fun.

And you have contact with the police enforcement/Department all the time, as much as all other services.

Mm... So everyone in here is going to become a Police Officer...? I must say that me too, but I have other plans. Might get a degree in Programming, then get the degree in Criminal Justice. I'm doing that because my dad told me that I might not think that the Police is how it is until you're inside it, like how he thought. He joined up and some years after he had to leave because of some stuff. So just in case if i leave the Police I won't have to be a homeless lol.

Yeah i thought i was good with computers, that was until i looged on here  If i was going to be a Police Officer here in Scotland i was going to join the Dog-Section or the FireArms department section thing :D
