Thanks for placing that manual link there.

Wow!  Good thing backup showed, just in time too, before things got really out of hand.  Those cops did a fantastic job and showed a lot of restraint in my humble opinion.  I'd of bashed that woman right in the face; want to act like a man you get treated like one.  Loud mouth idiot.

God that crowd was annoying, what is yelling at the top of your lungs going to solve? arguing with police isnt going to stop them from arresting a person who broke the law thats just common sense yet they continued to be ignorant... i wish people just let police officers do their job..

not for nothing but i lived in Long Island Queens border for 7 years, and they cause use a lot of force for no reason, but not for nothing those cops held back cause if i was that Sgt and that chick came at me like that she would have been on the floor quick! But its always good to see when back up officers get there, there are there by the numbers! Well done for this one! Cant say that for them all!!

I agree; the NYPD did a wonderful job in this instance and showed immense restraint especially under the circumstances.  The crowd was ridiculously unruly and the feeling of victory when backup arrived simply couldn't be matched.

At around 2:46, the officer on top of the suspect put himself in a LOT of trouble. Anybody that was behind him could EASILY have grabbed his gun. He should have protected that a bit more...

This is true, but if his holster is anything like my departments, theres a special way to get the gun out instead of just pulling on it, and most civilians dont know how to do that. The gun on my side is completely secure from anyone unless it is taken out the right way. If anyone tried there i would assume they would just grab...and that wouldnt work lol

Police tend to use special retention holsters, for exactly that reason. You'd probably also notice them trying to get your gun, and be able to react.

That said, you should never rely on a retention holster to save your life.

It felt really great to see the women getting apprehended at around 4:30. The NYPD officers were just doing their great job and no-one should interrupt with that. Unfortunately the majority of the public automatically assume that all police officers are always bad.

She wasn't so loud after they cuffed her ass!  lol

The officers just should have put her in the bin she was standing next to, mwahahahaha

Cheers.

That quote is awesome, and I think that should be posted every where. Media only s shows the bad side of police work as in the cops that screw up and make a bad name for everyone. Now and then you get the good news reporters like one in my area that is a really high police supporter. He always shows what cops have to go through and how most cops are good cops and not bad ones... I liked your quote so much I went head and made a picture of it and uploaded it to the internet....

Awesome but i can't take credit from it :P

But one is also supposed to be critical, sure there are some bad cops, but there are also some good criminals (such as those who havent commited very bad crimes such as murder or kidnap and who give themselves up or give up their compainions or who admit (for example admiting that they have drinken and drived)

Still i think people should be on the cops side till something else is proven

EDIT: A sick thing, in my country (Sweden), there is a bigger chance that the police get into trouble when they return fire than the criminal, for example there was this cop who killed a man with a toy gun. The crazy thing about this is, how would he have known that it was a toy gun?!, should he just have gone up to him and risk being shot?

Another example is a cop who returned fire against a robber and some shots manged to hit a gym nearby, sure he might have endangered some people which is unacceptable, but what about the criminal?

I'm not familiar with America's laws and I know European forces have different and maybe safer tactics to achieve something but I have to say that even though the situation escalated quickly because of the public area they handled very well.

Media lives on bad events. Whether it's a charity going down or an officer making a mistake (or even if the public thinks they make one because the public always think to know everything while the cops do a great job..) the media is trying to tear it apart. Good events don't really reach the paper that quickly, while the smallest mistakes reach front page.

Don't intrepret that the police makes a mistake and shut up when it comes to when you think you know your rights (''I have the right for free speech, blabla'') because of most cases you don't. They studied for it... The free speech shit is something I always hear... Makes me facepalm every single time.
