  • TL;DR, switch now, you're missing out on a lot of fun additions.

  • No, you don't need to have two monitors. It was originally designed to be used on a secondary laptop, but can be run on the same machine as GTA without problems.

  • I just want to point out that someone from the LCPDFR team recently mentioned PR in this chat. But then, another team member reminded us that talking about PR is totally off-limits because it’s seen a

Not trying to necro this topic but for anyone who comes looking for an answer, I thought I'd give my perspective.

I have been playing LSPDFR for about 3 years now and spent all of that time with Compulite, STP, and UB. While there were certainly things that made them buggy or annoying, it was the best we had/have. Most my issues are just the lack of animations and stuff related to the janky AI in GTA in general. I was pretty happy with these plugins enough to drop the $5 for the patreon version which was honestly worth it.

After a few months of not playing LSPDFR I decided to hop back in and try out PR. Switching over to PR wasn't too hard, as I had most of my original UB/STP xmls saved. It didn't take long to get used to the controls as a lot carried over from the UB/STP set up.

After about a two weeks of PR, I've decided to switch back to the original trifecta. Here are some of the reasons why:

  • Path finding for back up vehicles is not really that great. Often, if you set up a traffic control, they'll get stuck behind the AI cars and you have to manually move them or fast dispatch. This happened much less with UB, and having to rearrange vehicles when you should be playing the game is not fun. As well, I find that units in pursuit get left behind meaning your pretty much calling for back-up every few minutes in every pursuit.

  • The lack of a native police computer tied into the world is challenging and having to alt tab (for non steam users) is some what of an annoyance. I decided to use EPC which is cool, but a lack of charges and things not matching up in game pulls me out of it. As well, the computer system takes more time to do things either manually typing or going through your dialogue menu to find an NPCs name.

  • A lot of little things that make the trifecta more in-depth are missing (personally.) No notification of DUI suspicion, no arrests that don't go as plan, no NPC behavior notifications. These are things that allow you to expand on a game world.

  • The back up system is a little better, but not by much. Nothing about it really makes me go "WOW!" its pretty functionally similar to the UB. I will note, that with UB if I spammed back up they'd arrive no problem, but with PR they will instantly spawn on top of each other meaning I have to take a moment to make sure I pause between. As well, peds that are with you during a pursuit might just decide to leave once it's over. UB peds would stay on scene till clear. It really breaks the immersion when you and several other guys chased some guy on foot two blocks and now that he's under arrest they leave you to deal with it alone.

For example, with the trifecta, you'd initiate a traffic stop for a running a red or expired plates. A notification would pop up that you smell alcohol, giving you RS to run some sobriety tests. They fail, now you have PC to search the vehicle. Or, you go to arrest them and they try to take off, or worse, pull out a weapon. The fun of LSPDFR for me is working within the bounds of the law, and immersing myself in the role. PR is too mechanical for me to enjoy it.

PR as it is now is simply a beta version (the dev is redoing most of the code) so I would recommend to try it out if your biggest issues with the trifecta was it being barebones animation wise. PR adds some more immersion in this, but it also takes from the immersion having to either manually fix things, or make up in your head why you need reasonable suspicion to do something. There's no reason not to try it, but if you're happy with your current set-up, I would hold off. The trifecta is old with no new tricks up its sleeve, but you know that you're getting a working ecosystem. PR is shiny and new, but unfinished and is missing an overall system tying all pieces together.

My honest opinion now that I've played PR and sat with it a bit...

They have a lot of work left to do. It's for sure a cool.idea and I hope they are able to see it through and make it happen.

But as it stands, it is in no way, "the new standard" for LSPDFR.

Backup spawning from the front and making wild u turns in the road. Weird ped behavior. No way to tall passengers on traffic stops to get back in passenger seat. No automatically given flashlight like STP. I could go on, but I really don't want to just sit here and bash it.

I get it, "it's early and in beta. Somit will get better."

My beef here is that the creators and other modders have labeled this thing "the new standard" and it isnt yet.

It's a new concept that's still being worked on. That's it.

STP/UB is the standard.

It works. Backup spawns as it should. Features work and even if basic, add enormous immersion to the game. And have for literally over a decade.

Also, Beijojo was constantly in the threads, chats, and feeds. He was constantly collaborating with other modders. Maybe the devs pr PR do on discord, but here, not so much.

So, that's a srandard in and of itself, too.

PR is a great Advanced Mod. You can manage the backups, make Felony Traffic stop and then command the suspect, you can call for Code 1 backup which STP/UB doesn't have. STP is outdated for me(last update was in 2024) and when i want to stop traffic in my vehicle which is pressing G. Then the ELS automatically turns on with sirens. And PR's Keybinds doesn't conflict with ELS. There are great features like Bag Evidence and View Bagged Evidence. Better Realistic Field Sobriety Test, Breathlyzer Test and Dr#gs/Narcotics Test. Better Audios. We can even deploy Spike Strips which I think STP doesn't have.

I think The Author of Policing Redefined is still hard working on the Policing Redefined, fixing bugs and adding new features/improvements and maybe a making a new plugin "Computer Redefined".

And my backup always spawned and respond to me how i want depending on the location, condition and others. And I think it is more Realistic-er when backup don't spawn from the back of you instead in the front. And the aggressive U-Turn from cops/backups are GTA5's AI issues, not PR's Issues. Amd for me personally, PR would be the "New LSPDFR Standard(i have never hear anything like this from any modder or content creator)"

The only problem I find when switching to pr is there is no computer system like compulite so if you switch to pr ultimate backup and compulite won’t work. Yes there is work arounds like external police computer but that’s lot hard work setting up and you have to come out game to use it which I find annoying. So for the time been I’m sticking to stp and ultimate backup up and compulite for now until there is a mod like compulite that you can use alongside pr

Police Menu?

Police Menu is compatible with Policing Redefined. It's a Computer System that works well with PR, @MrButterHoles. Police Menu can be used as Compulite but for Policing Redefined

Path finding for Backups are GTAV AI Handlings Issue, not PR. When i used UB. The Code 3 backups spawned miles away from me and then after they got to they just drive away and disappeard. PR does not have this issue. And btw. GTAVs AI Handling are really bad and cheap.

Yes ended up using ReportsPlus. Had to get an extra monitor but I love it more than compulite. Having an in game version would be nice for others who do not have another moniter/pc

Use Police Menu, it replaces Compulite,

Press B to open Backup Menu and select code 3 or code 2 and call coroner. I don't know if this works but try saying "Requesting Code 3 Coroner"

yeah ik i can do it through menu but i cant seem to get it to work through grammar police which is the issue.

im waiting for a coronercode2=true setting in the ini or something

police menu actually seemed pretty cool, but i couldnt seem to figure out how to use the computer in the car, the hotkeys didnt work. i could only use the pad version through the N i think it was? the wheel.

may have been something on my side, or maybe im just too old school and stubborn idk i couldnt get along with it. i will try it properly again sometime because PR does look better and way more in-depth, ig i just need it to be a little more grammar police-friendly for immersive recording reasons
