So, which one? Arma 2 or Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead or Arma 2 Combined Operations?

 

 

Also, if I have just got a custom gaming rig for x-mas that can run GTAIV on max setting without lag and it has an amazing Graphics card with 1gb dedicated, should I be able to run Arma2?

Finally, any special install stuff required? Like compat mode or admin only or anything?

This, no point in getting just a single one. Nothing kills the experience of an awesome simulation more than seeing a CAS Cobra coming for a run and all you see is a dude floating in the air because your missing one of the models :D.

Arma 2 Combined Operations because you can play the DAYZ mod. And its pretty sweet.

Like everyone has said you need to get CO.

 

And always check requirements on the website of the game you're buying before getting it in case it's way over your limits, although from the sounds of it you should be good.

. Alright before you go buy the game the only server your going to find is day-z servers that is the only reason people play arma now. There isn't going to be any military servers at all maybe 1 or 2 but they will have like 5 maybe 6 people online. Now if your getting the game to play a life rpg like with cops and civs and fire fighters you will want to join "life project rpg" But if your getting it for the military aspect it's gone and probably never will come back until day-z is gone. Because most of the day-z members will hack other non dayz servers if they have nothing better to do.

the day- z mod is a disgrace to arma, not only do they allow cracked versio a of the game to play he over runned arma with 11 year old cod players. Now there are no more good military servers because they all had to shut down because of what day-z did. They brought a entire new wave of hackers, a bunch of spoiled ass 11 year old kids; that all they care about is killin people. My old clan of about 40-60 had to shut down its server becAuse of day-z. All day z is, is a virus spreading around arma ruining it. If day-z follows to arma3 I might just go crazy. Also the head dev of day-z takes money from people and uses it for him self. He doesn't pay rent on the servers he uses any more. So when you donate to help with servers cost where does that money go? Goes straight to his wallet to help him buy maybe a new graphics card or maybe a new monitor. Wouldn't be surprised I he was saving for a new car right now.... Ops did I just say this?

Actually DayZ doesn't allow the cracked version. It can run on the FREE version of Arma 2 with the full version of Operation Arrowhead. I disagree with a lot of what you just said since it's a great mod, but I agree there should be less DayZ servers and more "Military" servers.

that's weird I could swear my friend was playing on there server with a cracked version of the game. There were zombies other players cars trucks and what not. Huh must of been dreaming....

DayZ has actually ruined ArmA.

 

You can make all the valid points you want but all you have to do is load up the game and open the server browser, you won't get the epic Insurgency and Domination servers that you used to, You'll get crap like this:

I almost cried with joy when I heard DayZ was getting its own standalone release, it'll leave us, the people who bought the ArmA series for a military shooter, to enjoy ArmA 3 how its meant to be.

I hate DayZ with the fire of a million suns, but there is one thing I love about it. It made BI a shitload of money. They had more sales from people wanting to play DayZ than they had from all sales prior to DayZ.

 

"But Bojan, how does that affect you?" you may ask...

 

Well, with BI's new found millions, they will put a lot more effort into the development of ArmA 3. If I can find the statement that BI made about ArmA 3 and how DayZ helped the development, I'll try and link it.

 

Other than being a cash cow for BI, DayZ is shit and ArmA 2 is ruined... kinda. There are still quite a few game modes that are popular, but are not DayZ. Missions such as Wasteland are becoming alternatives to DayZ and many players are turning to these games instead. Of course, you can always play with a few of your friends and create your own missions!

ARMA 2 CO... DayZ sucks.. you just run around collecting stuff, just to get shot by another player.. hours of work wasted.

Well, i played DayZ with a few friends and it was fun, i'm not so sure about the cracked version of it working or not since i have a legit copy of the game, but you guys make valid points and i respect your thoughts since you guys liked the Arma 2 series, I for one have it and barley ever play it anymore, since DayZ just takes forever to actually achieve things, and then hours of gameplay is lost from some asshole killing you on sight. If the guy that posted this thread wanted to try it out he always could, or he could just not? My point was to tell him that if he wanted to try it the OA would be the way to go. But if your going to listen to everyone else here, then just simply don't buy it.
