At the end of my nerves, does ELS even work on 64 bits??

Featured Replies

After a long fight with it, I went into the Steam directory and re installed the dependencies (Not sure if my fix had a effect on it.) but I found out that if I hold my ALT M button or ALT T button for about 15-30 seconds, they actually work.

I just didn't except to have to hold it that long.

  • Then explain why it works on XP but not on 7? both are fresh installations. It is the only mod that does not work under 7 from what i've noticed.   In my original post i stated i've exhausted all co

I think it may be related to a Win7 update, because I loaded it up on a Vista and XP machine and it worked beautifully... confirming it with a couple buddies on Win8 too.I also noticed that it stopped working after I ran Windows Update. I just don't know which one messed with it.

Your not looking at the big picture, more then likely your windows got all !@#$ fuck when you install it either, trying to do a advanced install, maybe computer turned off or something. Its not just windows 7, windows 7 works and runs fine. I have windows 7 64 bit and it runs 100% perfect.

I am almost 99% sure your windows got messed up when it was installing.

Like I said you will how to either...

A: Download and install and run Advanced system care will fix those problems and also a lot of other problems on your computer.

B: Re install windows all together to get that fresh windows smell back....

C: Use the FIX windows option on the recovery/ installing disk and try to fix windows that way. (I don't recommend this because it might only fix a few problems then give up lol...)

Didn't see your other post there about the 15-30 seconds.

This sounds like it could be a keyboard related problem and I just have the idea why it works on 1 windows and not the other.

It could be the drivers for your keyboard got messed up when installing for any reason and never got the chance to fix them. This can cause keys to "Jam up" and not work on programs. Like with my new keyboard almost had a heart attack when the macro keys didn't work at 1st. But it as because the drivers got screwed up just reinstall them and now I have no more key jams....

Just doesn't work on 7 ultimate 64 bit. It is the OS or the ELS or something in the way it is coded.

I am here to attest to the fact that ELS does work on Windows 7/64 as that's what I run and I have NO issues. There has to be something in your configuration that is causing the issue.

I don't have keyboard drivers installed for my keyboard. It's a Das Ultimate mechanical PS/2 keyboard. No drivers needed.

Everything has drivers.... Speakers have drivers, Mice have drivers, joy sticks have drivers, if they made a necklace for a computer it would have drivers....

Hmmm...Having a similar issue that started a couple of days ago (after a Win7 64bit update) ELS works just fine, except for the fact that I cannot get the menu to show up at all!

Simple answer, yes but it was also hard and annoying for me to figure it out. Open the trainer > Options > Enable / Disable Keys > Disabled > Go to an ELS car > J and K :)

If you need more help ask!:)

I know in my situation, the keys have been disabled a while ago...Was working just fine up until a couple of days ago...ELS works fine...just cannot open the menu.

Re-install version 6??:)

go to ' or ` and type reloadscripts or reload scripts (Which ever one works for you) if that doesn't work hold down ctrl + delete that will debug scripts

I feel it is important to update this in case somebody ever looks into the issue from a technical angle; im no programmer nor do i have the source codes to even outsource a solution to somebody who knows what to do...

Alright after plugging at it on and off all this time, i have more information

1. it affects ASI mods. SNT, ELS etc. ASI mods that use keys. SNT will generally ignore the "5" key (aka enter/execute key) unless i hold it down for a second or so. then it will eventually register it. all other keys work under SNT as expected.

2. same with the ELS keys except all ELS keys are affected by the ghost as i now call it.  the menu won't come up because you can't apparently send a constant ALT-M signal until it picks it up like you can with a single key hold.

3. all nonresponsive keys respond instantly in the console in game! so the game sees them, just the asi mods have an issue with them. for some reason

Event Viewer has been known to cause some issues with keys in gta under win7 so i disabled that.. i installed every imaginable framework and what not microsoft has ever made. nada. disabled a bunch of other windows processes in case it was something that hijacked my key commands.. nada. removed any other languages i had, screwed more with system settings to ensure there was not a mismatch in keyboard/region between my os and gta. no dice. and more i find pointless to list.

so at this point i am thinking something with the asi loader or something with how it handles virtual keys (the numerical to actual translation aka the keycodes snt and els use in the .ini) in addition to something in windows 7 or at least certain specific builds that causes that.

i still have no idea why it works for some and not for me, but doing a deep webs search im not the only one. kanyo also posted about it over at gpm.. did you ever get it resolved?

Have you ever tried it in Win 7 64 bit, and when you go to run the game, not only run as admin, but right click the launchGTAIV.exe and go to properties, then go to "Compatibility" and try doing "run this program in compatibility mode for:" and try XP SP3.

the problematic os is  win7 64 ultimate.

all those common checks have been done months back with no difference. i even tried another xliveless asi loader today (not easy to find apparently); no change.  something is causing it.. maybe in another few months i'll have an answer? no key issues with xp under which i play gta..  this is the only game that does that, and thats the first time i ever see something like it. but like i said, might not even be the game. keys are registered, its the asi scripts that don't pick them up properly. asi scripts that do not require input operate as intended

Try updating your Microsoft .net Framework installation.

ASI loaded ( my bad ) requires Framework to be installed to work properly.

Im running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with .net Framework 4.0 Client Profile and .net Framework Extended and ELS v6/v7 with no problems.

Just a suggestion. Don't hang me :)

Scripthook needs .NET? Really? Keep in mind that ELS doesn't use Scripthook.NET (which is what LCPDFR uses).

sgtdonuts: Does the bug happen with dsound?

I've had serious problems in 64bit when forgot to update my .net Framework to 4.0.

With 2.0 i had some of the same issues mentioned here. I think its the ASI Loader that needs Framework.  To be able to load ELS.asi

Is there not a Debug tool from Olanov somewhere here?

I've been having a whole host of issues on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with ELS v7 as well. First it would crash with other mods installed, so I stripped my game of every mod apart from LCPDFR. Still wasn't working, so I switched from xliveless to dsound. Now it's working, but some of the keybindings are not responding (like the one to show the ELS menu). My .NET Framework is completely up-to-date (version 4.5), as is my Visual C++ (2012), and all other mods were working fine prior to version 7. ELS v6 worked perfectly too.
