Am I Getting My Hopes Up?

Recommended Posts

I don't actually have LCPDFR, and I have never played GTA IV on PC as my computer hasn't been up to spec. I am getting a computer built which will be ready on Friday, which will allow me to run it. However, I am so excited I actually can't wait, as if it is Christmas. Am I getting my hopes up a bit too much to play this game, like maybe I enjoy watching it on YouTube loads but when it comes to playing it I want enjoy it?

Is it actually a really good mod, (especially me being a police enthusiast in real life), or is it 'alright but boring after a while'?

you'll like it a lot

( as testing to be a police office and training as a police officer )  I really enjoy  it

there is also a bunch of different script's / mods out there that  you can run to keep things intersting and, that will help you role play diffferent things. your mind is your only limit when it comes to rp.

ex. mods / script's
of course LCPDFR
police helper by   Abraxas
braveheart's police script
tow mod
corner mod
different maps / add ons like Red Dead desert 12

as a few examples

plus with a bunch of different cars / skins out there you can also RP different cities towns etc.

and there are even gta4 clans that run their own thing and do mulitplayer at certain times  that you could look into

Thanks a lot for these lists of mods, will definitely download them when I get the game. When I get it on Friday I will let you know what I think. If its really good, probably won't go to sleep Friday night haha!

YOU WON'T NEED SLEEP WITH LCPDFR or any of the script mods..... I play IV every single day....... Damn can't live without it..... I was introduced to this by YouTube as well through NicolaiB..... ONE last script you need is the K9 script.... It's gonna make this game hell fun...... Trust me I'm a tester for the K9 script.

Hello all, my first post.

I just found this mod yesterday and I'm really enjoying it so far.  It's a natural premise for GTA IV and executed very well (actually love this mod!).  I've always been astonished that Rockstar Games has never implemented something like this in the retail releases.

It's a nice change from the rampaging murdering lunatic that the game always brings out of me.  Very nice change of pace to be on the other end of the radar gun (and tickets) for once.  Although, I still get the urge to "rough up" the hoodlums without the worry of cops getting in the way of my payday (brings the movie Training Day to mind).  If you like GTA IV, how could you not love this mod!?

I'm a little leery of installing other mods though, as from the few posts I've read, they can be a cause of the game crashing and whatnot.  Seems the high poly vehicles are a problem as well, from what I'm seeing on these boards (still reading though the forums, so not yet well versed in the idiosyncarcies of the mods in general).

In any event, this will keep you up late at night for sure!  Good thing you're getting your PC version Friday...gives you about 72-hours of game play before work/school on Monday...sleep is overrated anyhow.

BTW:  One thing that would be a nice feature; have a loose campaign mode where you start as a street/beat cop.  As you make arrests and whatnot, you get bumped to a patrol unit (and get a car).  Then eventually you move up the ranks to undercover cop (and better cars and equipment), NOOSE, FIB, etc.  Just a thought.

I also wanted to say to the developers/testers and everybody in between; Thanks so much for this mod.  All the time and effort that went into this is very much appreciated.

Good day,

Dr.Detroit

drdetroit, the idea of having ranking systems/people being promoted, is what some of the clans are all about. Some people take it very seriously like that.

I find that if you are a serious player, single player will be fun, but ultimatley you will really enjoy the team-work when you join multi-player. There is only so much you can do without making it unrealistic as a single player. If you are in a pursuit, you do have to jam their car a lot, if they get on foot, you may need to run them down, etc..but when you play multiplayer, since you are working as a team, you can keep it completley realistic.Dealing with multiple people with guns is difficult as well if you want to keep it totally realistic..alone you might have to shoot them a lot..in a realistic gameplay with others, it might go down a lot more professionally.

Agree with this. Watch some of the multiplayer videos and see how good it is to work with other people.

They follow the rules to a tee, have good training, etc

It gets old after a while due to the same calls over and over and over and over again and the lack of updates by the developers which is really unfortunate. Multiplayer is the only fun thing to do anymore.

You should think before you post or even know what you're talking about, if you knew anything about scripting you would know the time it takes to develop a mod such as LCPDFR, be grateful, we weren't even supposed to get the RC's, so be happy with what you get.

Abraxas seems to be able to do amazing stuff pretty quickly. Same thing with Braveheart. The developers seem to ignore any questions about future updates so I what else can I say?

No mod is perfect, if you were a more seasoned member of LCPDFR you would understand why they are "ignoring" questions, plus, they have stickies, which i'm assuming you neglected to read as does everyone else, i have read countless topics with people posting about things that have been posted 20 times before, plus, the dev's probably get flamed inboxes everyday, now, you tell me you wouldn't get annoyed at all, not even a little bit.

inbox a modeler and guaranteed you won't get a reply, i don't blame them either.

Also, pretty sure they have lives to and aern't always on the site, plus the only money they make is from donations, which they probably don't get alot of.

Not really in the mood for arguing but I've been playing LCPDFR for over a year now. If you're going to make a website dedicated to something and have it become as huge as it it you're expected to support your product and up date it. I never bashed LCPDFR I just said that it's a shame that the developers don't do more to make it better, I am very thankful for what they do that's why I find the lack of updates so sad.

Okay, I'm stepping in here.

Right, Yes. Whilst the two people you mentioned seem to be able to make some incredible scripts in a short time span, this isn't the case for everyone.

Sam and Jay are not robots, they have lives which is far more important that a video game modification

Both go to university, both work on the official SA-MP server, both have social life's..

Next time, before you criticize  Go away and start working a modification as huge as LCPDFR with a massive fan-base that demand updates and start moaning when there are none whilst at the same time attempting to keep a healthy balance with the real world.

Its not possible.

ripflm if you decompiled all these scripts you would see how much work and how awesome is LCPD:FR. My scripts may be fun and something fresh but there are no way where is LCPD:FR in terms of stability and professionalism. Yes, it would be great to see new callouts in LCPD:FR but they try to make them flawless and it's extremely difficult. You can see how hard it is only if you start to script by yourself. Last and most the important thing. LCPD:FR as other mods are FREE and people spend their free time working on mods and share them. There are many interesting and important things behind firewall :)

I make my mods quite fast because of the fact that my mods are far less complicated than LCPD:FR and I'm very productive in my real life work so if I try hard enough I have some extra time to script, but I work at home ;)

You can have your own opinion, but I think you shouldn't compare my scripts to LCPD:FR, they are from different leagues :)

PS: There are tons of thing to do in LCPD:FR, especially with addons like Braveheart's, my PoliceHelper and fun tools like K9 mod. With all these you get really varied scenarios. Also I'm sure Braveheart will be adding new things to his scripts and I have my own callouts in plans :)
