Quick question for the unlocked models that do not come released as a .z3d file.

How do we convert the police.wtd or .wft file into the .z3d file??

Thanks,

What would you possibly gain by converting it into .z3d, in the first place?

Exactly, you don't need to turn it into a z3d file. A z3d file is what zmodeler reads for progress saves. It has nothing to do with GTA. When you save your work, its a z3d, when you export it, its a WFT. Its actually better if the unlocked models come as a .wft and not a z3d. Since z3d files are mostly for your computer and read textures from your locations. If you give that z3d to someone else, the textures won't show up since they aren't in the correct place. Where if you give them a wft then they just add the textures before importing the wft model. You can't turn a wtd and a wft into a z3d.

The textures come from the WTD and get imported into zmod prior to importing the model(the wft). Then when you save your progress it saves as a Z3D(zmods save format). When your finished and export it(a wft) you take all the textures you used and create a WTD to go with the WFT. Hope thats not to confusing and it answers your question

Right. I am, personally, against most modders releasing .z3d projects as its nothing but a headache. Takes some 2-3 times repetitive process of:

Options > Settings > Services > Textures > Manually browse for the texture folder, save it, reopen it.

Sometimes I even find the materials are messed up, and thats why modders should refrain from doing so. Hope Godric's post explaines everything ;)

You don't have to do all that. You load the textures first in the texture browser, then click merge and select the z3d file.

Why, thank you. I'll try that next time +1.

But I'd still prefer .wft process (if other modders are kind enough to provide 'em).

Thanks, I didn't know that. I always thought it was more of a pain to deal with z3d because like you said Bollocks, you have to go through and find everything and apply it.. I always wondered why you released unlocked stuff in z3d only, EVI. I also still prefer the wft method. Maybe there is some benefit we don't know about to using a z3d oppose to a wft

z3d's are alot more stable and easy to make.

with a wft some many things can go wrong during export, not to mention that you have to create dummies and all that good stuff.

with a z3d i can easily just save the model on my computer and release it with the textures without having to make a wtd for it.

That largely depends on what your doing and I still don't agree with you. If you release a car model for use in GTA, you need to export it in a WFT anyway. If your going to release a full model unlocked then I would want to export it to WFT for the users so that I knew there were no errors. I wouldn't give them something that wasn't correct. If you did release it as a Z3D there would be no need for a WTD anyway, all you would need to include is the textures.

Idk, it really doesn't matter, we all have our own way of doing things and it works good for each of us.

Guys, have you considered that his real question could be "how do I get a .wft and .wtd into Zmodeler?"

Haha thanks. Whenever I click the import/open button the .wft files disapear and I cannot get them in. Any help??

No, thats just the trial version. Its not a full trial either, some features are disabled. If you purchased it then its obviously a full version. If you didn't buy it though its either you can't import or you can't export with the trial version.

I downloaded it as a zip and then tried to run it but it doesnt run. So i have to open the zip and click the .exe file everytime I want to try it. Is that installed or what do I do>?

Okay, I just registered and purchased a full version.

However, the .exe thing is still a problem.

Nickie, I imported the vehicle succesfully!

i have no idea what you mean... Zmodeler? You installed zmodeler? Did you buy a unlock code? You should unzip the file, run the installer and it should install and then click the icon or find it in your program files
