[Request] 1988-1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Police Interceptor w/ ELS

Featured Replies

I will give you guys some teasing information :D

This has not been started yet because we are currently in the works of MAKING not Converting a vehicle made by Dodge found in SA...(no official release name). We are taking vehicle parts found in default IV that look like it and matching them together to get the car completed :D

Once that is done, we may start doing the same for this one...

No promises though :D

  • Many more depts. than you think used them, and like FCV96 has said many small or not so known departments used them.

  • Still nothing, I've contacted some more modelers for asking permission to use models before and believe me, they usually don't even answer. There's still hope though;) Btw, didn't see the picture o

I still need to set up the collision for the door windows, and i need to change materials over to IV. I'll need someone to map the UV for the parts of the car that are normally on the Police_Sign_1.png so that people can make textures for it, i'm pretty rubbish at it doing that kind of mapping.

Dude, that's cool! Thank you for working on it  :thumbsup:

So you need someone to make the template... Maybe any of the modelers around LCPDFR could help ya with that;)

I always map at the end. First I do the shit work, then mapping, then fixing collisions and door animations.

I can't express my gratitude in words; the last thing I thought I'd see when I checked this topic was that someone was nearly through with converting the model.  I simply cannot thank you enough for this! :D.

I did stumble across these pictures; I mentioned older episodes of COPS several times in which this generation LTD Crown Vic was used, and I remembered what particular department used them in the episodes I saw. The distinct color-scheme probably helped that memory as well;

San Diego Sheriffs sure do know how to stand out!

What kind of lightbar is that?

Also, does anyone happen to have those wheels? i'd love to throw them on the model.

Those wheels were used on the LTDs as well as the 1992-1997 Crown Victorias; I don't think anyone has ever modeled them before though.  And a 3-D grille as Strike suggested would be awesome.

It also seems that the [ELS-Enabled] Aerodynic would be the best choice for this vehicle; the LAPD setup would be the best IMO.  Red/blue with that bit of orange on the back [show spoiler];

And Strike, if you're doing textures then I'd love to see LAPD and San Diego Sheriffs as well as the two in the spoiler tag! :D

a 3D grill!

Still need to weld it, but i'm completely new to the welding in zmodeler, so it's kind of confusing for me. I'll figure it out though.

As for the hubcaps, they're pretty simple so i might be able to model them on my own.. not sure though, i'm going to do that last for sure.

Haha; that grill looks much nicer when its modeled in 3D.  And good luck on those dog-dish wheel covers; thankfully they don't have much of an intricate design on them. :D

Also, a few tidbits on this generation [1988-1991] LTD Crown Vic; the 1988-1989 models had amber turn signal lenses in the front, but the 1990-1991 models had clear turn signal lenses with amber bulbs.  The 1990-1991 models also had a different steering wheel to accommodate the newly added driver's-side airbag;

I was thinking of going with a 1989, unless you guys really want a 1991!

At this point, it just matters on whatever is easier to model for you.  If you want to undertake the subtle changes of the 1990/1991, then be my guest [the steering wheel looks much nicer with that 1990/1991 airbag IMO].  However, being that it does require substantial effort - I'd rather have the car done and then altered in the future.  Perhaps go with a 1989 for now and maybe update it with a 1990/1991 later?

Yeah, ofc. About the two of the spoiler I already had thought the second one, the problem with the first one is that I can't find that logo  :confused:

@Ceril: the grill looks much better now, also, if you want me to make the texture for the car feel free to ask  :smile:

Default lights are way better on old lightbars.
