Thank you for downloading ExternalPoliceComputer
EPC allows you to use any device in your home network (e.g. a laptop, your mobile or just the same device you're playing LSPDFR on) as a modern MDT
Important notices: STP is no longer supported as PolicingRedefined is the new standard (you can still use STP, it just doesn't sync like PR does); Your old configuration files will no longer work - remove them; Node.js is no longer required because the server is now integrated into the LSPDFR plugin

It is recommended to use PolicingRedefined and Callout Interface

Installation

Move all files and folders from the ZIP file into your GTA main directory

Setup

When going on duty using LSPDFR, ExternalPoliceComputer will display notifications in-game containing the addresses, used to access EPC
If you missed them, ExternalPoliceComputer also generates a file including the addresses: GTAV/EPC/ipAddresses.txt
You can access EPC using any browser of your choice (however I recommend a Chromium based browser, e.g. Chrome, Brave, etc.) by entering one of the addresses (if one doesn't work, try the other)

Setup using Steam

In Steam go to Steam → Settings → In Game
Make sure Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game is enabled
Set Overlay shortcut key(s) to whatever key you want to use to open ExternalPoliceComputer
Set Web browser home page to http://127.0.0.1:8080 (or the url provided by EPC)

Customization

You can customize your config.json, language.json, arrestOptions.json and citationOptions.json; all located in the EPC folder of your GTA main directory
The config can be customized on the customization page to avoid having to reload LSPDFR

You can use STP with EPC, however they will not sync - a limitation of STP.

If you dislike PR, I'm sure the developer team accepts constructive and specific feedback or criticism. Going around and just saying "it sucks", won't help anyone.

This is so basic would help if you updated the icons and had a picture of the ped or vehicle

Suggestion! Would be nice if you pull over a vehicle or stop a ped that their info auto fills in the CAD system. Sometimes hard to remember how to spell the names or know what kind of vehicle they are driving.

Not sure what you mean by "basic" and what icons you want updated. You can change the icons yourself by writing an EPC plugin. There won't be ped images, since I don't know how to export ped headshots outside of GTA. Vehicle images already exist.

Because of updates to CAD and RMS they now have the ability in some agencies to scan the id and auto enter info in the system. Here is are examples hand held and patrol vehicle: https://huzzard.com/industries/law-enforcement/driver-license-scanners/

I really wish modders would stop with the "PR is the new standard." They are barely out of beta. And have a lot to do before they are the standard.

Clear challengers, yes. However, I still have issues with traffic stop backup pulling up and causing chaos due to unrealistic driving. As one example of something that is still.in the works. Another would be that if you have a passenger on a traffic stop get out, you can'tdismiss them back to the passenger seat like you could in STP. You can only dismiss on foot. I could list a few others, but I'm not trying to bash the mod because I think eventually it WILL be the stnadard if they keep working at it. But to just give them the crown because they're the new kids on the block is a little comical. Especially with the work that still needs to be done to the mod.

So, yes, it's a cool refresh of what Beijojo did 12 years ago. But it isn't there yet. And it's sad to see modders just jump ship on STP like their fawning over a new Instagram model that looked their way one time.

Devs of PR are still working on it, but I clearly lost hope in PR. Devs have not updated anything, posted anything for months and what could have been done in 6 months took over 2 years, now going on 3, and that's what we are left with. Such a disappointment for such a promising plugin. I tried to stop peds, and weird things keep happening. They sometimes either walk away for no reason, get in your driver's seat, or just plain crash Lspdfr. I have given up on lspdfr for a while now. This plugin was a step in the right direction for all of us, but why start something this big if you’re not gonna support it? 😞😞

Seriously. It's a coolmidea and concept. But to take "over two years" to develop what is basically a buggy revamp of STP and immediately call it "the new standard" is crazy weird to me.

Even as someone who has played with it installed.

Then to your point, you release it after billing it "the new standard" and go MIA for MONTHS is salt in the wound.

But the secondary insult here is all of the other new modders completely buying in and canceling compability with tried and true plug-ins like STP for the new kid with a cool haircut.

Like wtf?! Not everyone wants to play the beta plugin right off the bat. Let ir develop. Let the devs prove they'll stand by it and support it before we give them rhe keys to the community.

I agree, but now we are basically screwed. STP is clearly outdated and no longer functional(barely), and PR is on a standstill. So, what do we do? There is Lspdfr Policer Advanced, but it is also on a standstill. Needs an AI backup system, controller support and many other things.

@90sKidZ @manu450 Maybe my wording in the description is a bit off. You can still use STP with EPC. The information will just not match unlike with PR. That's the problem with STP, it doesn't have any real compatibility unlike PR. The PR devs made a a framework (CDF) for other devs (like me or Guess) to assure all ped, vehicle etc. information will match. Additionally PR itself has a much bigger API then STP, again improving compatibility with any other plugins. I don't support PR simply because it's new, but because it's way better for devs.

Of course I understand that PR (especially the backup system) still needs quite some work. Just keep in mind that devs spend hundreds of hours creating these plugins for free. They still have a life, that might change how much time they have to work on these projects (like going to uni after school). From personal experience I can also say that devs sometimes just loose motivation to work on their plugin for a bit. Making these plugins is a hobby for us, not a job.
