Smoother Gameplay (READ DESCRIPTION) 2.0.0

Smoother Gameplay

===========================================

This .bat file allows your game to run at a 10-15+ fps advantage.

EVERYONE READ:

1. How to make it work: Download this .zip file, open it and drag the launcher.bat file to your desktop. Once you have completed everything below this, double click and wait.

2. This .bat file increase your game's frames by at least 15fps. For it to work, you need to go into your Grand Theft Auto main directory, find the application for RAGEPluginHook, and right click and "send-to desktop." Once it has been sent to your desktop, you need to rename the shortcut by getting rid of "shortcut" and just have it named like this: RAGEPluginHook. If you'd like to rename the shortcut something else, just right click on the .bat file, press edit and change the name beside the "start" line to whatever the shortcut's name is. (refrain from any spaces)

3. Once you double click the .bat file, it will launch RagePluginHook in high priority, meaning it will run at an advantage compared to everything else. Once RagePluginHook has started, wmic (TASK MANAGER,) will make the two processes (gtavlauncher and the sub process - and make them idle) meaning it will make it so these two processes aren't taking up any more CPU time or memory, because the GTA V Launcher itself takes up more CPU than the game itself. (Because it is a huge application for any PC to start up, and the Sub Process just hogs up more CPU and Memory.)

4. (Additional Notes) - If you'd like, which was kind of explained above, you can edit the .bat file. You can get rid of the "timeout 60" if you'd prefer, or just lower it. The timeout is there just in case you are busy and can't press "enter" right away. It gives you 60 seconds before it kills the process and you must double click it again.

What's New in Version 2.0.0

Released

What's New:

- Added two new processes to go idle, one being "Steam.exe" and the other being "steamwebhelper.exe" which both consume lots of CPU and Memory while in-game.

- Also added a new .xml that contains the perfect settings for low end PC's. In the folder containing the .xml, there will be a text document letting you know how to set it up.

Enjoy!

Speaking for all of the Community you need to describe this feature in a little more detail and how a .bat file works.

Your picture for the mod has a description of Realistic graphics rather than a pic of what this does...

We're going to need some details on a install and what this does for the LSPDFR community and a FPS file?

I'm all for a file that makes my GTA more efficient and adds FPS... Just confused and not educated enough on .bat files to know wtf is going on lol?

It's a batch job that starts the game with the first line by running the RAGEPluginHook executable
the next line sleeps for 60 seconds (meaning it pauses for a minute)

then it uses wmic to find the process in task manager that is named GTA5.exe and set it to high priority which means the system will allow it more processing time than others. The other two processes (gtavlauncher & subprocess.exe) will go into idle mode, which means they will sit idle and not consume resources.

There is nothing nefarious going on, but I don't know how much improvement you'll get from setting the gtavlauncher.exe and subprocess.exe to idle, they don't seem to consume much either way. Setting the GTA5.exe (main game executable) to high priority could improve your game performance, but it would depend on what your system build is and where any actual bottleneck in  performance is the cause of.

It's all standard stuff when tweaking performance of an application. Ideally you have the hardware to run a program and not have to go to such granular levels, but it's worth a try if you need some extra horsepower.

NOTE: I'm not responsible for any damages real or imagined this causes you or anyone else. I did not write it, I'm simply using my 20+ years experience as an application administrator for global IT systems that I run to offer insight on what the batch file is doing under the hood.

Thanks for your input and info on .bat files. My fps runs high while my CPU stays pretty low so I don't think this would be a mod that would benefit me.

All I needed to know lol🍻

How do you work this? Do you just double click the file you drag on your desktop and wait till it’s done with it’s 60 seconds, then click on RPH after and run LSPDFR?

Is there anything I can do about it? I can safely launch RAGEPluginHook from the desktop, and there are no problems. The name is as required. But if I do it through a bat file, you see this:

Don’t drag the entire application from the Game Directory to your Desktop, you’re supposed to make a copy of RAGEPLUGINHOOK and drag that to your Desktop. Leave the actual application in your game directory.
