Welcome to Grammar Police!  This plugin began as a replacement for VocalDispatch but has grown into much more!

 

Speech Recognition

  • Issue commands to the dispatcher using your microphone
  • Includes a "hold to talk" feature that simulates a real radio
  • Supports StopThePed and UltimateBackup out of the box
  • Contains multiple sets of "10 codes" or customize yourself
  • Request backup, run plate checks, accept callouts and more!

 

Non-Verbal Interactions

  • Use an on-screen radio to interact with the dispatcher

Grammar Police 1.8

  • Restored player status display on PTT release (thanks OfficialFlipPlayz)
  • Restored the "say again" and generic response functionality
  • Restored emergency status on panic (thanks L’ère de l’a-paix)
  • Hardened radio check to prevent crash when there aren't any results
  • Adjusted timings of (non-chest) animations to look and sound more natural
  • Invalid callsigns no longer cause a failure but instead fallback to default
  • Moved speech engine handling to a separate thread to minimize UI freezes

    Microsoft has removed the interface for Windows Speech Recognition in recent versions of Windows 11.  Starting with this version of Grammar Police you will need to install Microsoft Speech Platform and the language pack you wish to use:

They are compatible, but you do not drop in any XML files.  Both UB and STP will be called by default if they are installed.  It should work out of the box.

I believe I can do this.  I was able to successfully get the speech engine to recognize French.  However, I need a native French speaker to help me write out the grammar.xml.  Any takers?

Yes, it supports an EMS call. It will default to UB if installed, unless you toggle that setting.

No, this should replace Vocal Dispatch. My recommendation would be to leave VD installed if you're already using it and rebind it to a different key. Then if you like Grammar Police you can remove VD later. Otherwise, this plugin has no hard dependencies other than LSPDFR and RPH.

Tried it and not getting a generic response.  I am very familiar with VD as I have been using it for years.  I know my voice recognition works perfectly.  However, I am not getting a response.  Attaching RageLog in a spoiler.

EDIT: Managed to fix the issue.  Had some conflict with my microphone.  Seems to be working now.  I do need to modify this a bit more.  If I say Show me 23 or if I see 10-23  it automatically sends Code 3 back up.  

So far it works good.

Thanks for the log.  It looks like it's running fine but not picking up any speech. You'll only get a generic response if you say something it doesn't recognize.  If you say nothing, it doesn't do anything.  Are you saying things or just hitting the talk button?  Is it picking up normal things like "show me 10-8?"  And, I have to ask just to be thorough, is your mic unmuted?

Thank you for the log.  It looks like you might have changed your Culture setting.  I see this:  "Exception while unloading: System.InvalidOperationException: The language for the grammar does not match the language of the speech recognizer."  This is the same error I got when I was testing out using French.

 

If you did change your Culture, then we've solved the problem!   The changes for the next update that will allow the French support should solve this problem.  Again, this assumes that you changed your Culture in the .INI file.  For now, you will have to leave it set to "en-US".    @MrBiker has already sent me a French version of the grammar, so I will have an update out this weekend.

No. I kept it at the default  in the INI could it possibly be because my system is in British English?

100%.  The code does not currently specify the GrammarBuilder Culture setting, so it defaults to whatever the system setting is. However, I explicitly set the Culture setting when I create the SpeechRecognitionEngine, so that's causing the error.  I apologize for the issue, but hopefully it should be easy to solve.  I am going to send you a PM.

Okay, thank you very much! I really appreciate it.  

For me for some reason it's not recognizing my voice or something. I can say "Dispatch can i get a plate check" and it says "Acknowledged" or etc and nothing is happening. Am i being dumb (never used a voice addon before) or is there something else at play?

Definitely interested to try this. Will there be controller support like Vocal dispatch? I like having dpad up set my radio.

So my game just crashes whenever I go on duty, I tried VocalDispatch did the same exact thing, removed it. Now I tried this and it does the same exact thing is there a requirement for this mod of some sort? I'm very confused.

Sorry for the double reply, I figured if anything it could be a mod interfering with it? My knowledge is very low about mods but that's the only thing I can think of.

I have one little concern, if i talk randomly sometimes it will say on traffic stop or send me an ambulance. Would be nice to have the dispatch answer you for things like" dispatch i'm gonna be in contact with a white male wear black shirt blue jeans" and dispatch will answer ''10-4 roger that''

Yes, the speech recognition is a little big aggressive and I'm not 100% sure what to do about that.  I think it's possible that I've included *too many* phrases in an attempt to be flexible.  This might result in too many false positives.

 

If you say something that it doesn't understand, it's supposed to respond with a general acknowledgement.  The problem is that it sometimes think it understood you when it really shouldn't have.

Super impressive! I have no issues so far but would like to see some features added animation wise.

Support for default LSPDFR radio animations.

Gun can still be held at suspect when calling out shots fired/talking over radio.

 

Fully understandable if animations are out of your control just some things that i believe would make this plugin even better!

The default LSPDFR radio animation is used when calling from on foot, so I'm not 100% sure what you mean by that.  Are you not seeing any animations?

Sorry! I meant the different radio animations in the police radio interaction menu containing the shoulder chest and earpiece animations that activate when you enter the menu
