EasyParkingLights (EPL) is a simple and lightweight plugin made to allow users to toggle their amber parking lights on an EPL-compatible vehicle.
The idea for this plugin comes from seeing many law enforcement officers using their parking lights in the evening while their vehicles are parked.

I reached out to Rich to help me with the initial idea, which was to use the vehicle indicators as steady burning lights, but they're hard programmed to flash by the game.

Using that knowledge as a foundation, I reached out to Sebo for further assistance. We came up with a script using similar functions to his HoldMyGun plugin.

Thus, EPL was born.

EPL WILL ONLY WORK ON COMPATIBLE VEHICLES.

What vehicles are compatible with EPL?

As it stands, my vehicles are the only vehicles that can be used with EPL, but I'm sure that other creators will jump aboard and use this feature.

GET MY EPL PACK HERE:

How can I use it?

Simple. Spawn your EPL-compatible vehicle, and hit your modifier+keybind to toggle the parking lights (RShiftKey+N by default).

You may only toggle your parking lights while your vehicle is STOPPED/PARKED, because duh.

Beyond that, depending on which version you've installed, the parking lights will toggle off automatically when you start driving, or they will toggle off manually with the modifier+keybind while your vehicle is in motion.

FOR VEHICLE MODELERS:

Spoiler

In order to make a vehicle that can be used by the EPL plugin, you must ensure that your vehicle has:
a. Emissive amber parking light objects, named "extra_12"
b. A dummy node named "misc_EPL" (must be lowercase). This is a failsafe to prevent the plugin from using the components of an incompatible vehicle.

I really like the idea and functionality of this plugin but it kinda screws over ELS Devs that use extra_12 for their Alley Lighting. While not all ELS Devs take advantage of this feature, in my opinion, it would be more suited for extra_ten as I don't find myself using steady burns that often or even at all. Anyways, i really like the concept of this plugin and i think it will make a huge difference for some peoples gameplay experience 👍 Keep up the great work!

There will always be issues with modelers that make ELS vehicles and use certain extras. It was the same when I added a similar feature to HoldMyGun. You ask one modeler which extras would be good, and then ask another one and he completely disagrees 😄

But gladly both plugins check for a certain misc object to be present on the car and only activate then, so no accidental toggling of extras on incompatible cars 🙂

This plugin is awesome and its something that I've been waiting for for a while. As a vehicle modeler though I lean towards @Terry Sloman's comment as I am one that uses alley lights on my cars. However, I completely understand @Sebo's point as what parts a modeler uses is completely different from person to person. My only suggestion is why not do what the classic Indicator IV script did way back in the GTA IV days and have the front and back indicators steady burn. That way almost every vehicle vanilla and modded is compatible as soon as you release it. I'm in no way savvy with scripting but if this is feasible, alter what Indicator IV did and have front indicators and rear taillights. Again I am in no way a scripter and have no clue how GTA V would react to a script doing this, its just simply my input.
