Police Tape 3.2

(25 reviews)

1 Screenshot

It's Los Santos... people get shot, people get run over, things catch fire... and it's usually all your fault. Eventually, you need to do something to keep nosy bystanders out of your business. Ever wished you could quickly close off a freeway so no cars can get by? Ever wanted to block off the scene of a dead body so that curious pedestrians couldn't tell who exactly shot them? Perhaps you just want to peacefully do some construction work, but oblivious drivers keep driving into your work zone. Or maybe you're fighting a fire, and need to stop rubberneckers from wandering into harm's way.

No matter what you do in Los Santos, Police Tape is here to keep everyone else out of your way.

  • Featuring dynamic tape with cloth physics that blows in the wind

  • Aim-and-click tape and barrier placement lets you attach tape to any surface

  • Built-in advanced traffic control stops even the stupidest San Andreas drivers

  • Ped path blocking prevents most ambient peds from crossing police lines, while allowing backup, medics, coroners, and suspects to keep going

  • Full API lets plugin and callout creators add tape to their own scenes

  • Tape import/export system lets you save your tape and include saved tape scenes in callouts

  • Tape management menu to delete individual strands of tape and manage traffic control

  • Customize your tape texture to get different text or patterns

  • LML support to install scripts and police tape model files, DLC option if you prefer

KNOWN ISSUE: The tape sometimes droops through the ground, especially when there is not much wind or with longer pieces of tape. User more barriers and shorter pieces of tape to help reduce this effect. This is due to the limitations of what cloth physics can do in zmodeler/GTA V. Version 2.0 adds static tape models which do not sag as an option. You can choose for each strand whether to use static or dynamic tape.

KNOWN ISSUE: If you are having issues with changing the keybindings in the INI not taking effect in the game, add a single blank line at the top of your INI file.

KNOWN ISSUE: You may need to install a modified gameconfig.xml, depending on your version of GTA V. If you already have a modified gameconfig.xml to support add-on vehicles, you should be OK. If you haven't before and your game crashes on startup after installing Police Tape, you need to install a custom gameconfig. You can use the following LML package to install a compatible Gameconfig file:

What's New in Version 3.2

Released

Version 3.2:

  • Recompiled for latest game version due to changed GameControl enum.

  • Only for RageNativeUI 1.124+ and GTA V 3717+. For older versions, use version 3.1.

Previous updates:

Spoiler

Version 3.1:

  • Fixed possible crash when deleting individual tape strands from the tape management menu.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.8.1

Version 3.0:

  • Added the much-requested option to spawn just barricades without any police tape attached to them. This is available by entering the tape placement mode, selecting a barricade, and middle-clicking to spawn a barricade by itself, or left-clicking to spawn with tape attached.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.7. Please make sure this file is up to date.

  • Added INI options to enable "alternate texture", "static tape", and "continuous mode" checkboxes by default.

  • Optimized performance of traffic control checks to significantly reduce the FPS impact when there are many tape strands spawned.

  • Added DLC installation option. LML is still recommended, but the DLC is available for those who prefer it.

Version 2.1:

  • Fixed bug causing INI Keybindings section to not be read correctly

  • Clarified instructions for installing alternate police tape textures

  • Updated for compatibility with new ParksTools.dll version

Version 2.0:

  • Added static tape option

  • Updated API

  • Improved traffic control algorithms

  • Added support for new versions of ParksTools.dll and for Coastal Callouts

  • Improved Police Tape menu

  • Other misc bug fixes

Tried editing the keybinding, but even after fully rebooting GTA V, it remains Ctrl+G for menu and Shift+H for starting.

The ini modifications that were saved:

[Keybindings]
StartTapeModifier = None
StartTapeKey = T
OpenMenuModifier = None
OpenMenuKey = I
ToggleContinuousMode = OemBackslash

What's the correct ini file to edit? I've tried both:

C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V\plugins\PoliceTape.ini

C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V\lml\downloader\PoliceTape_by_PNWParksFan_2.0\_GTA V Folder\Plugins\PoliceTape.ini

Everything is installed as it should be.

I only use the basic game with pure modification LSPDFR.

All models are shown to me, but after applying an object such as example cones, the object always disappears and the tape is down in the ground.

Do you know what it could be?

You are probably clicking left mouse button ("Place tape on world") instead of middle mouse button ("place barrier and attach tape").

Can you make this so it is not required to have LML Mod Loader? I do not want to use the Mod Loader and it would be cool to have this updated so I can try static tape. I am also looking forward to VMS+ Reader Board Changer and hope you can install it the original way as well.

Why don't you want to use LML for it?

Just don't really wanna bother with it used to the old ways lol my internet sucks so I also haven't updated the game in months so running an old version of LSPDFR because I don't wanna waste time getting the mods updated when I can't get online anyway lol. Also Norton kept flagging it as a Heuristic Virus so just figure it would be easier to not even mess with the Mod Loader.

I installed with lmk but it says police tape is optional as if it didn't install properly

Well I finally tried LML and got the antivirus to allow it and tried Police Tape and it showed that it wasn't installed correctly so thought maybe it was because I am using an Update Blocker but did what the error said and cut the old Police tape folder out and removed the listing from DLClist and sure enough it loaded! I am starting to realize how easy the mod loader is and might just have to start putting new mods in as they are compatible hmm interesting!

I have installed Police Tape normally but when I launch the game it gets to loading LSPDFR then you here a blip and it just keeps loading and nothing happens. What is the issue?

Editing the textures with OpenIV works fine for me. Can you try again? You should be able to just browse within the LML folder to the location, and edit the YTDs like normal.

Will there be a version for those of us NOT using LML?

for some reason I can't seem to find the DLC file, the one you're suppose to have in the dlcpacks? I've followed the install instructions on terms of lml, and copied the files needed into the gta5 folder? But nothing in the dlcpacks where you're suppose to go to edit the textures etc? I'm still getting the hang of modding etc.

There may be some outdated instructions for updating the textures. Nothing gets installed to the dlcpacks folder, it's all inside the LML folder. Just browse in there with OpenIV.

Can this work in FiveM?

Unfortunately no. It uses memory editing to resize the tape pieces, which is not possible in FiveM.
