Description
This modification enhances keyboard and mouse driving in Grand Theft Auto V, by smoothing out throttle, brake and steering, providing a cruise control feature with auto-follow, and other miscellaneous improvements such as engine control, fuelling, etc. Aggressive driving is still possible, either by double tapping W/S, or enabling race mode (detailed user guide included in download).

 

Important

This mod is known to be incompatible with ikt's Manual Transmission, and Custom Gear Ratios. It may also be incompatible with other similar driving mods.

     - Smooth acceleration/deceleration
     - Smooth, realistic steering (with steering angle hold outside of vehicle)
     - Ignition control (engine stays on when leaving vehicle)
     - Fuel consumption and refueling
     - Cruise control with auto-follow
     - Improved, automatic gearbox
     - Optional custom gear ratios
     - Compact and informative UI
     - Extensive configuration
     - Turn and hazard indicators with automatic cutoff

 

Planned Features
     - Odometer (have to figure out how this will work in game)

 

Known Bugs
     - UI may flicker when FPS fluctuates a lot

     - If Menyoo is installed, AI shifting will not work in certain spots (such as Vespucci beach)
     - Please report any further bugs

 

Installation
    1. Ensure you have the following installed:

          - ASI Loader (OpenIV > Tools > ASI Manager)
          - ScriptHookV (latest version)
          - ScriptHookV .NET (latest version)
    2. Navigate to the Grand Theft Auto V main directory.
    3. Go to the Scripts folder (part of ScriptHookV .NET, if such folder does not exist, create it).
    4. Unpack the archive that was downloaded into the Scripts folder (SmoothDrivingV.dll and the SmoothDrivingV folder should be alongside one-another inside the Scripts folder).

I was wondering if it is possible to disable smooth steering.

    Hello, first of all thank you for the wonderful work you have done with this mod.

     

    I have only a Question: 

     

    I use PC and controller. Is there a way that when I turn left or right, the steering wheel will automatically center itself? I think that would make it more realistic and easier to use like other simulator or racing games.

    There is, check "controls.ini" or "Driving.ini" and set smooth steering to false.

    By the way, the GTA 5 will randomly crash if you're using this mod so use at your own risk 🙂

    Hello, I have a question. Is it possible to disable switching direction key? Because when I change direction with the space key, my game immediately crashes.

    Yeah caused CTD so the plugin is basically broken unless you edit stuff in the .ini file

    How do you reverse ? its not letting me hold S to reverse

    EDIT: Nvm i see its space to switch directions..But immediate crash after reversing

    Had the same issue as everyone else. It works other than that. The only real way to stop/lower the crashes was to disable the advanced gearbox setting. Hopefully, a patch will be released if its plugin sided. If not I'll continue to use it with advanced off. Good mod, however.

    Just installed this mod and by exploring hotkeys notice crash, it triggers when hit SPACE to go backwards and went to pressing W which obviously should not react in any way since S only move him back. Any ways to fix this?

    No other scripts is installed.

    (Turning gearbox to false in Driving.ini fixed problem for now)

    Great mod. Like the turn signal and the direction switching. I have a problem though with cruise control.

    When I turn it on and set a speed, the cruise control doesn't actually work, even if I press the reset button and all that.

    I´d rather use nomorefeatheringV2 but since the last update (chop shop) only the brake control does work. Throttle is always full send...

    This does no longer exist online. SmoothDrivingV was developed out of this. But since SmoothDrivingV got an update (but only on GTA5-mods.com) I use this now.

    Works ok for the time being.

    Smooth steering isnt functional. This was the only good handling mod. Sad to see it abandoned

    Hey, thanks for keeping this up to date.

    But I noticed one difference. When braking smooth, the tires are still squeaking a bit. Can this be eliminated?
