Emergency Lighting System 1.05

(234 reviews)

3 Screenshots

Emergency Lighting System V brings one of the most popular modifications ever created for a GTA title (ELS-IV) to Grand Theft Auto V. ELS-V will add a whole new dimension to  your patrols. With a fresh look and many more features than its predecessor, it's also sure to brighten up your game and satisfy the emergency lighting enthusiast in anyone.

DESCRIPTION
− ELS provides an alternate and incredibly in-depth way of controlling emergency vehicle lights and sounds.
− ELS requires vehicle models specifically designed to make use of its features.
− ELS includes over 200 unique lighting patterns scattered across 4 light groups and lighting formats.

NOTES
Please consult the ELS USER GUIDE and other provided documentation prior to using ELS.

− As of V1.00 ELS is not compatible with any form of multiplayer.
− A visual enhancement mod is recommended to improve the appearance of ELS lights in game.

BASIC INSTALLATION
− A GTAV ScriptHook must be installed for any .asi modification to work. The original may be found HERE.
− Using script modifications in GTA Online can result in a temporary or permanent ban from the service.

− 1. Place ELS.asi, ELS.ini, the ELS folder, and  AdvancedHookV.dll inside your main GTA V game directory.
− 2. Download and install (a) pro-ELS vehicle model(s).
− 3. Start your game.

CREDITS
− ELS is coded by Lt.Caine.

− AdvancedHookV and vehicle damage feature coded by LMS.
− ELS-V testing team (alphabetical order): Albo1125, BxBugs123, GravelRoadCop, PoliceWag, and Prophet.

What's New in Version 1.05

Released

  • Removed auto deletion of discarded ELS vehicles to prevent crashes when using certain LSPDFR plugins.
  • Removed ELS manipulation of AI vehicles as persistent/not persistent for same reason.
  • Removed strobe corona flash sounds (while retaining sound effects for halogen patterns).
  • Toggling the ELS information panel will now reload everything in the ELS.ini.
  • Fixed error in ELS User Guide that incorrectly associated SCNL with extra_11 and TKDL with extra_12 (the opposite is true).
  • Updated ELS User Guide to reflect new changes.
  • ELS.ini change: Added "AllowController" option to CONTROL section to allow enabling/disabling controller input for ELS.
  • ELS.ini change: Added "TogKeysLock" option to CONTROL section to allow changing ELS key lock button.

Please download the AdvancedHookV fix if you are using game build 3258.

Does anybody know how to get around game crash from ELS? Will there be an update for 0.4? The game works flawlessly without ELS in it. I looked up a way to maneuver around it by moving the main files to another folder instead of “Programs & Files”, but it still doesn’t work. The weirdest thing about it all is that it worked for a day with no problems, now all of a sudden ELS crashes the game at the end of loading.

The same thing happened to me. ELS started to give me crash when it is loading to story mode.

Sadly I feel ELS is broken and if it is indeed true that nobody but Lt.Caine has the source code I don't think it can be updated. The Player Location Display script (is dependent on Script Hook V also just like ELS) works just fine. My game doesn't crash but ELS just won't work.

EDIT: I found out it was an error on my end. I'm so used to just pressing the "Control" key and clicking all the files except "Albo1125.Common" and then when I'm done with all that I will get the latest version. I thought "AdvancedHookV" was "ScriptHookV" so I didn't bother dragging and dropping it. I just downloaded "ScriptHookV" thinking it was an updated version of "AdvancedHookV" when it's not.

I need some help here, so i had ELS working for about a week or 2 but then the light bar and window lights went really dim, but all the other lights were nice and bright. I watched many videos to see if i could find out how to fix this but i have done everything already, i have put the ELS files from the mod cars into the ELS folder in the pack_default folder like the readme says to do, i have post FX on very high. i don't know what else i can do. and i checked for any updates but there are none. i am at a loss is there anything I can do to fix this?

no, you need top download els vehicles. these can be found at gtav mods . com or on the lcpdfr website. Both reputable sources

Mod is broken and admin is gone.

Was fun until it lasted.

Try this suggestion right at the end of this thread:

Spoiler

"Help, all my windows are tinted pitch black, and my lightbar doesn't light up because of that!

It's a problem that is, to my knowledge, inherent to only the sheriff2 and pranger files. It makes some models having pitch black tinted windows, and since many models have the lightbar glass of the same material as the windows, it tints the lightbar glass as well, preventing the lights from flashing through. There's a very easy fix for that. Search for the vehicles.meta file located in update/update.rpf/common/data/level/gta5, and extract it somewhere. Open the extracted file with notepad or similar software, and press Ctrl+F to open the search bar. Search for the name of the car slot you installed your modded car in and causing this problem. Once you found the car lines, scroll down until you find a line that looks like this:

<diffuseTint value="0xAA0A0A0A" />

And replace it with this:

<diffuseTint value="0x00FFFFFF" />

It'll make the windows transparent and make the lightbar light up.

Good day to everyone,

I'm going to give you a possible solution to issue where ELS is not working and possibly the game itself won't load past the initial loading screen. I'm going to give the short version and then the long version (for those that are curious what lead to problem and the solution that I've found that worked for me.) I can't promise you that this will work every time for everyone. Just saying it is a solution.

[------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Short Version -------------------------------------------------------------------------------]

Problem: Grand Theft Auto V and/or ELS

Issue: Grand Theft Auto V won't load past the loading screen, and ELS won't function properly (after the fix for the initial loading screen and everything is installed correctly) (I started having these issues after updates to the mods and everything. Not sure if indeed it's the cause, but the timing make sense.)

Solution: First thing and more importantly is to check the .logs and see what they say. (All of them not just for the game but all your plugins/mods as well.) 1st solution to problem #1: Game won't load past the loading screen. I made a backup of my saved games and profile then uninstalled the game completely. What's left should be all the mod files (LSPDFR, ELS, TrafficPolicer, UltimateBackup, etc...) I moved all those files to a different directory. I am essentially starting everything over, ran a fresh install. After downloading and installing the game, placed my backup saved game in the Rockstar Folder and loaded the game. Everything loaded just fine and ran with no further issues.

2nd solution to problem #2: ELS (after reinstalling/deploying newer versions of the mods/plugins I had before.) The ELS was not working the way it is suppose to, very short solution... make sure to have the latest ScriptHookV.dll file. Otherwise any .asi plugin/mod will not load. And it's best to start fresh with the VCF ELS .xml files. (Though you would have to edit them again, but since you're installing everything fresh, might as well make sure the ELS starts of fresh as well.

*The most important thing is check your logs, it'll tell you exactly what the issue is and you will kind know where to go from there. For me was starting from scratch, ensure all the essential files are download and/or up-to-date, and check the files to ensure the lines of code are correct. (A game can crash just because a period or slash was left out on one line of which in my case some line of code was messed up. That's why I decided to start from scratch.)

[------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Long Version -------------------------------------------------------------------------------]

The issue I was having only started a few days ago before the update to GTAV, LSPDFR, RAGEPluginHook etc... Again the game would crash during the initial load process. I have looked into quite a few solutions (there were a few that had a similar problem) and tried a couple to no avail. After a day or two of trial and error I said "screw it" uninstalled GTAV (did it through Steam because that's where I got the game from). I also backed up my saved games just in case. Now what's left in my Grand Theft Auto V directory was all the files to the plugins/mods I had installed before. So I took all the files and moved them to a different directory for later review. Now that the directory is completely empty, I start to download the game again. And because we all know how Rockstar Games are when it comes to their game and the space needed to store them, I know it would take awhile to finish downloading and installing.

Now I took this time to come to this website and re-download the latest versions of plugins/mods and picked up some new ones to try out. After downloading all the mods I started to extract all the files into one folder for easier deployment later. All said and done GTAV finished downloading and installing the game, I then re-uploaded my saved game. I ran the game without installing the mods (I'm essentially doing a process of elimination and trying to narrow down the main causes for crashes.) Everything opened up as it should and loaded into the game with no further issues. Afterwards I reinstalled all the plugins and everything seems to work so far (to include the new plugins I downloaded. But now all of the sudden ELS is not working, so I was doing a couple of things, one was Googling for possible solutions as well as comparing files from before and the latest newest install. Come to find out I was missing the ScriptHookV.dll (DOH!), so I downloaded the latest script and loaded the VCF .xml files from before into the new directory.

Now all of sudden went from everything working (to include ELS) to the game crashing during loading again. (WHAT THE HECK!) After a little digging around I stumbled across the .logs not only. After reading the log files I came across some lines for instance in the RAGEPluginHook.log a couple of the lines stated "error 0x000408cb and code 107 (something similar to that as unfortunately I don't remember exactly what it said and I didn't copy it down). In the ELS.log there was info regarding the VCF .xml files having issues. Before this point I thought maybe the ELS needed an update to work with the latest LSPDFR 0.42 or the ScriptHookV.dll was outdated as well. But after reading the ELS.log at that point I decided to delete all of the VCF .xml files and start from scratch. Using the sample one that provided in the ELS directory I just made multiple copies and edited each one as necessary. And VIOLA! everything started working again, GTAV loaded completely without crashing and ELS functions properly. To include some new mods I've downloaded.

*I would like to make an suggestion if I may, while you're waiting for the game to finish downloading and installing. You can take all the mods/plugins and extract them into a single folder for easier upload later. (See figure below) It'll be easier to deploy for later.

This is before LSPDFR is reinstalled

I'm pretty sure I'm leaving some details out, but I will update this as I remember them.

Questions? Concerns? Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks for listening!

I have a small ELS issue. I've been using it for almost 2 years and I just downloaded an UC that has an issue when you honk during code 3 all the lights stick on. None of my other cars do this

Have you copied the VCF (vehicle configuration file) that came with the car into your GTAV/ELS/pack_default folder and made sure that it matches the name of the vehicle you installed (e.g. if you installed it in the police4 slot the file needs to be called police4.xml)? Have you edited the VCF at all?

I have, since I posted this I managed to get it to work. I have not edited the VCF at all. Now my issue is that Ill be running code up the highway into another county and the game will crash. Doesn't matter what vehicle im using. but if im just tearing around one section of the map (ex. Downtown) everything is good. not sure what that's about. Also looking for a plugin to make lights look more realistic. Thanks for the help MP5

Ctrl + P by default, have a look in Default Controls PDF in the Documentation folder of the Zip.

I’m having trouble turning on the lights on emergency vehicles. The lights won’t turn on and I can’t even honk on the horn or nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this issue.

Sounds like carcols might be altered. OR their might be an issue with the provided VCF. I've run into that before. Which car model is it? Understand that within the VCF each light acts as a component which is why non-ELS vehicles will have flashing rambars lol. Go into the VCF and make sure each all are properly on and color matched. Hope this helps.

I have a doubt, I always used the lights and had the beeps in code 2, but I was a while without playing and now I can only activate the sound 1,2,3 when I turn the code 3 light and sound, but the traffic is opening as I approach, I like code 2 as the npcs stay in place so it's more real. Can someone help me?
