Basic Vehicle Actions V2.01

(24 reviews)

1 Screenshot

BVABasic Vehicle Actions is a script modification that adds some simple vehicle functionality, including persistent braking lights, the ability to toggle the engine state, indicators, and parking mode. It also allows custom vehicle exit styles to better suit the user's gameplay.

DESCRIPTION
− BVA provides several simple vehicle features.
− You can toggle a parking mode (to save your vehicle), toggle a vehicle’s engine state, and use indicators, among other things.
− BVA allows for persistent braking lights whenever a vehicle is stopped.
− BVA also allows the user to choose an exit style (from 3 available) for both short and long presses of the vehicle exit button.
− BVA includes a seatbelt feature and the ability to shuffle vehicle seats.
− BVA includes custom sounds for added immersion.

NOTES
Consult the FEATURE INFO file to learn more about BVA and its features.
− The parking mode feature is disabled by default, as it may cause issues when using a controller.
− You may enable the feature in the BVA.ini file.

INSTALLATION
− A GTAV ScriptHook must be installed for any .asi modification to work. The original may be found HERE.
− Using script modifications in GTA Online can result in a temporary or permanent ban from the service.

− 1. Place the .asi and .ini files provided in the download inside your main GTAV game directory.
− 2. Modify the .ini file as you see fit.
− 3. Start your game.

CREDITS
− BVA is coded by Lt.Caine.
− Thank you to Alexander Blade without whose work scripting for GTAV would not be possible.

@TheUniT & @vladimir850: Careful, the vehicle exit style IDs (for use in the BVA.ini) are 0, 1, and 2 (not 1, 2 and 3). Additional information is available in the documentation included with the mod.

@Frank22564: You can change the keys by editing the options in the CONTROLS section of the BVA.ini file using the key IDs found at the bottom of the DEFAULT CONTROLS (BVA).pdf file, provided with the mod--that file also provides additional useful information.

@S0berDrunk: Yes, I would like that too, but it doesn't appear possible, at least right now.

@Mercuri: You can try the "Mouse Alt 1" and "Mouse Alt 2" codes from the DEFAULT CONTROLS file. If that doesn't work, you could maybe use your mouse software to reassign your mouse keys to mimic keyboard keys and in turn assign them to the mod in the BVA.ini

@AshHill07: You might want to try setting your "ExitTypLong" in the BVA.ini to 2 (i.e. exits vehicle with door closed and turns engine off) instead. You'll notice it is set to 1 by default, which makes the player close the door upon exit and keeps the engine on--which is useful if you want to manually turn off the engine by holding the 0 button (by default) prior to exiting the vehicle.

Oh okay thanks :D

Great mod, definitely must have. In fact, I only used PLD for these features, IV-style vehicle exit and brake lights. What about adding more features? Like when you come to a stop, you keep holding the brake button and have brake light on. But if you want to go reverse you have to release the button and press it again. You could have seen this feature in modern racing sims and it has already been done for GTA SA (not sure about IV).

I don't know why, but it doesnt work now for LSPDFR.

Singleplayer works perfectly (including police cars), but when I start LSPDFR (I mean, I go to the police-station) I can't put the engine off when getting out of the car...

He just leaves the engine running. I'm pressing long enough, I'm pretty sure... the rest of the features work great (such as Parking-Function and the "Engine on/off"-thing with the keys), but only the best feature doesnt work. :(

Do you have any plans on adding a seat belt function? I think that would make a great addition to BVA.

@ClaudeLib: Thank you, and yes, that's a feature I would like to add--as an option, for more realism. My previous attempts have failed, though, but I'll continue to try.

@ToflixGamer: Yes, this is, unfortunately, normal. LSPDFR is set to keep the vehicle's engine on upon exit by default, thus overriding BVA. You can fix this by going into LSPDFR's action menu (by pressing N, I believe) while sitting in your vehicle, scrolling to the vehicle settings, and changing the engine option to either "On" or "Off", and NOT "Always on".

@CaptainSugarFree: I had never really thought of it, but I suppose it could be done. Though it would likely be automated, so as to prevent the need for an additional button.

@Lt.Caine Yeah of course, so right when you enter the vehicle a notification can come up and say seatbelt fastened or unfastened when you get out.

@Lt.Caine Seatbelt can function just like helmet on motorcycles. Like when you get in and stand still, the character fastens the seatbelt, but if you hit the gas immediately, he doesn't. Maybe even use some animation for that.

P.S. How can I properly mention someone?

I have a suggestion:

It is small, but I feel it would add a lot.

Simply put, make the reverse lights appear for half a second when engaging park.

In most automatic transmission cars, if not all, from drive you go into neutral, into reverse, and then park. During which the revers light would come on while it is at the reverse stage for that short amount of time.

Bailing out doesn't work with this mod. Character just gets out normally while the car is in motion.

Hadn't got around to posting this yet.

Perhaps if the vehicle is in motion, maybe over a certain low speed, this script won't affect leaving a car.

It happens no matter how fast the car is going.

Right, it was a suggestion to deal with that in the future.

Feels kind of dumb to suggest since it's so obvious, really.

It seems that I am unable to turn off my police vehicle's engine when getting out of my vehicle in Lspdfr while on duty. When I turn off the vehicle and get out, it starts back up again by itself??? This happens to all the police vehicles in lspdfr.

When I am not in lspdfr, it works perfectly.

Could this be a fix in the update?

There's a vehicle engine option in the LSPDFR actions menu that conflicts with BVA. Make sure that option is set to On and not Always On, and that will fix it.

Awesome mod. It merges about three mods. I love parking, immersive and simple, without manipulations outside the car (pressing buttons to "save" a vehicle or "unsave", like in other persistance mods). But there is annoying bug with bailouts, immersion breaking and quite cheating. Are there any plans to fix this?

I think it's something wrong with exit animations. I'd be cool if there was an option to disable animation feature completely to avoid these problems. Deleting lines in .ini does nothing useful here.

The animation is perfectly fine for me, the problem is probably on your end.

Ehm, i mean animations interfere with bailout feature of vanilla game. It's bug and it's known and it needs to be fixed.

When getting out of moving car Player just leaves it like it's standing still, without ragdoll.

Thanx for update!

I found a strange thing: while blinker turn on my fps drops from 40-45 to 26-29

It happens only with blinkers (turn signals) , not with hazard lights

Yeah the same thing happened to me, not sure why. Does your FPS drop when multiple police cars join a chase too?
