2016 FPIU (slicktop) 0.2.0

(3 reviews)

3 Screenshots

This is my very first model I've completely finished and released. I'm sure there are several things I did incorrectly but I will fix them if people truly like this model. Please give me feedback so I can make it better! I will make other vehicles if anyone would be interested in something specific. Please don't get mad if this is not perfect. The screenshots aren't very great.

What's New in Version 0.2.0

- added the option for if you want siderunners

- added scenelights to the side (siderunners are used as alley lights also) use alt+] to activate

Really cool model, you definitely make your model stand out when it comes to the back of the squad in terms of lighting and all that. Only thing I would say is that the front looks identical to several other models I've seen before. The explorer is great because there's so much you can do in terms of lighting and I feel like you just kind of took someone else's style and threw it into your model. Your car looks solid, if you take anything away from this I'm hoping it's that you'll add a little more your spin on lighting around the whole car. Awesome model though, I look forward to seeing what you create in the future, keep it up!

I'm glad you liked it! And thanks for the feedback! It was half trying to learn what looks good and works/trying to make my own thing! Do you have any suggestions on how to spice up the front? I'm stuck inbetween going for christmas tree and going for semi realistic.

Copy that, would making the 4 head lightbar on the side windows into alley lights be enough you think? Or even the mirror intersection lights?

I mean I've seen a lot of cars that have the Christmas tree lighting so I don't think you have to sacrifice one for the other. I'd say maybe if possible putting some lights in the grille and more on the top bar of the rambar. I can't exactly explain it, I'm more of a graphics guy myself so I couldn't dream of putting together what you've made here but I think you have a good start, I'm sure you'll learn ways to make this more your own as you continue modeling cars. Like I said, great work!

I'm working on making it better now! I'm gonna release a more polished version of what I got now and I think I'm gonna start from scratch on a new model and make something more unique!

I'm going to be updating it again in a day or so, I plan on adding more to the interior and adding a spotlight once I find one that works well! I'm also working on a new design of this explorer. Should be out soon!  Should the spotlight be folded in or facing out tied to the takedowns?

If I may make a suggestion or two, don't have to follow it, but I was thinking of the spotlight facing out tied to the takedowns. But if some like the spotlight folded in, maybe have that as an extra?

You should KEEP the side runners, but maybe do a little less or make them in segments. (Ex. Like four lights kinda thing). And adding intersection lights on the mirror sounds great. And for the alley lights just add them to the light bar on the left, right, and front side. For the back maybe add it to the traffic adviser or whatever lighting system is in the back.
