Well, you have the best of two worlds then. Good graphics and an intriguing lore. I highly recommend you read up on the lore, and take your time and listen to dialogue and reading books. Oblivion had some great moments in books (Lusty Argonian Maid, for example... oh jesus).

There's actually several Dragonborn, it's "just" a title. It is rare for more than one to appear within an era. They can belong to any race or gender, since the Dragon blood is a "gift" bestowed to certain mortals favoured by Akatosh. Some Dragonborn individuals (the player, for example) have knowledge of the Thu'um, and can consume a slain Dragon's soul and absorb its knowledge, allowing them to learn Words of Power quickly.
