  1. The fact that V wouldn't have happened without IV doesn't make IV a good game. Terminator wouldn't have happened without Piranha 2: The Spawning. That doesn't make Piranha 2 not a terrible movie.

I'm not even saying IV is a good game. Because the definition of good highly relies on your perception and the circumstances of what you have and have not, got.

  2. It seems like a ton of people were excited for the release of LCPDFR 1.0, I guess not a lot of people were really complaining about IV then, but then GTA V came out and people saw the differences. I still think a lot of mechanics in IV were tons better than what we currently have though.

    ^ This.

Up until now, people were all "make hay and celebrate" the mods we have for IV (a very good exapmle beng LCPDFR 1.0). Now that V's out, even the ones who used to appreciate IV and its mods are despising it vocally. Its in human nature. Our brain keeps comparing everything, all the time. And thats what R* and other AAA game dev companies capitalize on. People don't seem to understand IV's role in R*'s development of V. They just back V up and give it a high five, without realizing that there was a LOT, that R* learned from IV's reception and user feedbacks. Simply put, there would be no V without IV, as there would be no IV without SA, and so on.

  3. The whole point of releasing new versions of mods such as ELS and LCPDFR is to add features but also to improve stability in general.

It's safe to assume that the latest releases will be the most stable.

It's hard to draw a conclusion that 0.95RC2 + ELS v5 will be the most stable since you might be comparing two completely different setups. The person with 0.95 + ELS V5 may only have one or two ELS car mods whereas the person with 1.0D and ELS V8 might have 15 ELS car mods, weapon mods and everything else so of course they're going to be less stable.

It also depends on what your computer can handle. A higher spec PC can typically handle a lot more too.

For one, I'm sure 0.95 RC2R2 + ELS v5 is a great non-crashing experience. Trust me. First hand experience. With same "other" mods in comparison to 1.1 + ELS v8.5.

Two, you already know I'm using the same PC since 2010, Tom LOL.

  4. Zmodeler3 has a GTA 5 Filter on the way.

    http://forum.zmodeler3.com/viewtopic.php?t=7222

Right. Fun fact- GTA IV's ZMod alpha filter took 6 months (post the announcement that the import filter was already written and fully funtional) to come out. Even then, Oleg himself was still fiddling to import a stock untouched model and export it properly on as-is basis without it glitching to a beautiful array of traingles all over or crashing the game itself to an SMPA60 error.

Sigh! All, I am saying is, which I should mention before people start throwing terms like 'pessimist' at me, don't hold your breath. And this advice is meant for a couple of fellas who I see are getting overly excited.

The art of stating the obvious. Calm down, guys. You realize its gonna take much more than just that, right? First off, the stock cars aren't UV'ed the way you'd want them to, just like IV and SA's stock cars. The other thing is, even if you found the car files, which were obviously there the whole time, we don't have:

    1) a program like Zmodeler to open/modify/replace them and,

    2) we don't even know what the settings (mesh, dummies, lights and textures) do these new cars use in accordance with the new and modified RAGE engine that V uses.

to kick off car modding yet.

I don't think you have the slightest idea how black holes work.

Here's the thing about a black hole: It isn't some magical suction device. It has a certain mass; outside its event horizon, it produces no stronger a gravitational force than anything else with that mass. If the Sun collapsed into a black hole, the planets' orbits would be unchanged. Thus, a miniature black hole would have no more gravitational impact than anything else of its mass, like, for instance, a typical virus (a bacteria is *way* more massive). The black holes they could create in the LHC have mass at most 5*10^-20 kg; the associated Schwarzchild radius (to first approximation, the radius of the event horizon) is 7.4*10^-47 m. While the event horizon grows as the mass increases, keep in mind that it has to absorb literally the entire planet to have an event horizon of 9mm, so it wouldn't exactly be exploding.

Here: you can read an explanation by an actual astrophysicist of just how little your scenario has to do with reality. Even if Hawking radiation doesn't dissipate the black hole, it will take trillions of years to reach a mass of one kilogram. For context, the universe has existed for ~14 billion years. There is no situation where a black hole of 5*10^-20 kg poses any sort of risk to anybody in the entire world.

You explained it very nicely (although, I'm not sure if I got all of that nerd stuff), but time and again, scientists have admitted that they were wrong about certain things and no one can guarantee the results yielded from an experiment to be always accurate, let alone the possibility of it backfiring and producing entirely different results than what was expected. Now, I'm aware that CERN nerds aren't a bunch of foolish idiots gathering together to do something they don't know about, but they don't know what the results would be. Thats the whole point of experimenting, isn't it? Don't mistake it for me advocating in the favor of they-shouldn't-be-doing-it, I'm just sharing my thoughts that we may be geniuses, but we're not know-it-alls, despite them doing it in a controlled environment.

Anyways, I'm not sure whether the results of this experiment would be entirely accurate as I am a believer in 'laws of physics aren't the same everywhere in the universe' theory. But kudos to the team as knowing something is certainly better than knowing nothing. I'm sure it will help change the lives of many people in way or the other, courtesy of the outcomes of this experiment, regardless of good or bad, or at the very least, teach us at least something about how our world works.

EDIT: Why isn't anybody talking about if it opens up the new dimensions or even a parallel universe? Man, I've dreamed about this my entire life!

  7. Agreed man, I just want a 2013 F150 except for the one by PS3Gameplays123 because of it's light bar. If you get one will you send it to me?

I highly suspect anyone would give it out. If they had I wouldn't be here now, would I? It would be another story if someone releases one unlocked. Come to think of it, almost all US police vehicles are available out there unlocked. So ideally this should've been too.

  8. I've been trying for a month to get an unlocked model but seems like its being passed around to only those who have "friends in high places" and are straight up GADs. Any attempt to the original converters OR these GADs is futile because they never revert back (sad to see most modders are way in over their heads these days...)

  9. Same stuff going down over here. I made a thread about it too. Tried everything- no luck so far. Has happened on 2 different vehicle with different make and models. With the kind of things I've tried, I guess ELS v8 is the real culprit. It just glitches out on some vehicles for no specific reason.

  10. If I use the "Fix car" feature of SNT, and keep it pressed, the module would light up like its supposed to alongside the glitched emissive. If I tap it once, the module would light up once. If I keep it pressed the module would go on steady burn that kinda thing.

Though, people around here aren't too keen on helping anyone it seems. I have made several threads asking for help but no one ever replies. Seems the community has already gone to shit long ago, contrary to popular belief.

  11. I have a weird problem with ELS 8 where extra_9s, no matter which vehicle or lightbar, are glitched in one way or the other. I had a custom made Z71 Suburban which had a TA with its two middle modules as extra_9. Its emissives, though placed perfectly like others, used to light up further down and behind the TA. I srtrived to fix it but never could so I abandoned it.

Now, just yesterday I tried to install an another modder's vehicle and it again happened. No matter what I do, it lights up like this:

    24whe0i.jpg

The modder whose vehicle it is has uploaded a video of this car and in his video, its perfectly lighting up. However, as you can see, in my case as (1) circle represents, the extra_9 module in the Whelen Edge is lighting up somewhere down and further behind than where it is supposed to. And in (2), the last amber module which is a part of extra_9, isn't lighting up at all. I have checked the vehicle in OpenIV and the modules seem to be correctly placed. I have also used default_config.ini in order to make sure that any of ELS settings may not have screwed this up but its still there. Any ideas on whats causing this?

I have seen other modders fiddling with v8 of ELS to get extra_9 right and apparently they did, but since neither of them cared to explain how they fixed it, I was forced to make this thread.

Modders take inspirations from real life. R* takes inspirations from real life. Doesn't mean R* takes inspiration from modders. The examples that you gave:

    1. Its true Caine modified an Esperanto into  a police version. But then again, he modified a ton of other stock vehicles like Dilettante, Speedo, Landstalker, etc.
    2. Its not ELS, my friend. Its just how the newer LED bars look like in the current era. GTA IV was made before 2008 and LEDs had only started to take over the world then. ELS is not one of a kind. Its inspired by real-world LEDs. Like I said, R*'s inspiration too was real-world (LEDs), and not a GTA IV mod.
    3. That truck mod is no rocket science and anyone can imagine such a truck. I'm not completely ruling out inspirations from the modding community, but its highly unlikely.
  13. I have always used two asi loaders... as far as I remember- since 0.91 RC1 and it never was an issue. I am sure it has something to do with the other error- the framework stuff.

Hmm.. I'm still looking into it. Besides, I ran the one in the LCPDFR folder only. I wish someone with coding knowledge could decode those error hashtags and what they might indicate. You and me are pretty much clueless here.

I don't understand why it tells me that I need .NET Framework 4.4 when I already have 4 and 4.5.2?? Weird stuff goin' on 'round 'ere.

It sounds great, but on the other hand I don't know if I want even more cop cars to ram into me when I'm in pursuit.

Besides, this mod is not supposed to increase the number of cars while in pursuit. It is for those who prefer realism as in a more diverse set of copcar models patrolling the streets in contrast to stock GTA4 where only 2 models, namely police1 and police2, spawn in traffic. In a city like New York, you would come across marked Explorers, Chargers, Crown Vics, unmarked, MTA, HWY, PCT, traffic enforcement and many other units. This mod can be used to simulate that in the fictional city of Liberty City. Consider it a better alternative of the ALM mod.
