  1. Yeah, that's not true. At all. The media may not be talking about it any more, but there were still incidents of looting and ongoing crime, as indicated by a St. Louis County police dispatcher I'm friends with. I doubt he would tell me how swamped they were fielding calls for service mixed with various death threats and Nazi accusation phone calls if it weren't true. First hand factual information from a credible source directly involved in any incident is immediately far more reliable than anything the media ever tells me. As far as your politics picture, that's definitely true for a lot of people on both sides of the opinion line. Frankly, I'm tired of the anti-police crowd telling me that I'm a sheep and I'll believe anything the government says. Not only is that not true, but these same people are the ones using half researched media reports full of bias and blatantly false information as their sources, rather than confirmed facts and a level head. These are the same people who scream about their rights, without having the knowledge or comprehension to know that they are imagining rights that never existed. Well, the media says this, we have the right to that, and yet I'm the one that gets called a sheep? Like I said in an earlier post, in order to properly defend your rights you have to actually have an understanding of what rights you have in the first place. If people that are so outraged about these alleged incidents of "brutality" would put half as much effort into screaming at the politicians and lawyers that make the laws as they do screaming at the police, maybe something good would actually happen and we would see some change. But most of the people like that are too ignorant to understand that the police enforce the laws set by the politicians, and their actions are defined by the laws set by the politicians. But hey, ignorance is bliss right?
  2. The media does not necessarily have the right to be there. They have the right to report on the events that occur, but see my post above about the right to assemble and such. If this crew was in an area they were told not to be in and they chose to disobey repeated lawful orders to disperse, then they were breaking the law along with all the other rioters. As for the police dismantling their equipment, I'm sure the idiots on Cop Block are already scheming that the police are trying to suppress media reports, but the fact is they were probably just trying to secure that VERY expensive equipment so it didn't get damaged or stolen by the looters and criminals roaming the streets.
  3. This is exactly why we should not rush to judgement. We do not have all the facts, we only have the information the media bias wants us to have. You assumed the protests were peaceful when in fact they are not, the same way some assume that the officer in the shooting was wrong, when in fact he may not have been. Do not rush to judgement based only on the limited information you see in front of you.
  4. You really don't understand the US constitution do you? That's ok, not many people in this country do anymore. I guess they've stopped teaching this stuff in school since I was a kid. While your rights cannot be completely removed, the courts have ruled numerous times that they can be reasonably regulated. With regards to the right of the people to assemble, the constitution says that the people have,"...the right to peaceably assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." The courts have ruled that reasonable regulation on this right is that most places require an advance permit to be issued prior to the assembly, and the assembly must be held in such a location and manner that it does not interfere with any person not participating in the assembly. The purpose of acquiring a permit usually meets the requirement to "petition the Government for a redress of grievances," as there is a documented reason to the event and proper notification of the affected Government office. This is the same reason the "Occupy Wall Street" protesters were hassled the way they were. Just like these "protesters" in Ferguson, these people are breaking the law. They do not have a permit to assemble as a protest, the right to "peaceably assemble" stops when they begin throwing rocks, bottles, and bricks at the police and discharge firearms at the police, and it definitely stops when they begin looting and burning down buildings. They are also clearly interfering with other people by blocking the roads and sidewalks to an unnecessary extent. These people were given multiple lawful orders to disperse before any force was used. Riot Shields, tear gas, and rubber bullets are the standard response to these crimes and are intended to prevent the criminals in the crowd from spreading to other parts of the city and getting even further out of control. These tactics have been in use for decades and there is nothing new about the police response we are seeing in Ferguson. As for the media, they are being gassed along with everyone else because they intentionally set up their cameras on the side of the riot line with the criminals. The police are not targeting the media, the media is simply in with the crowd trying to make themselves out to be a "victim" so they have a story to sensationalize. I'm an avid supporter of American rights, but as usual, an ignorant public is distorting something they don't understand to proclaim "rights" that we do not and never have had in this country. That's why what's happening in Ferguson is called a RIOT, not a protest. In order to properly defend your rights, you have to actually understand what rights you have in the first place.
  5. Games are largely a matter of personal opinion. My opinion on TitanFall is explained above, short version is I love it and play almost every day. I never felt GTA Online was over hyped, mainly because I was never interested in it to begin with. I'm still playing Star Wars: The Old Republic. Pre-ordered the collectors edition, been playing since day one and I feel like it totally lived up to the hype. It's everything I could have wanted and more, and it's the only MMO that's ever been able to hold my interest for more than a few days. Point is, the experience all relative to the user.
  6. Look at that cop, assaulting that woman and violating her 4th amendment rights. He can't make her get out of her car like that. This cop is corrupt and needs to be fired immediately and he should go to jail for assault and battery. /sarcasm Seriously though, good police stories happen every day around the world. Saving people, buying a kid some new clothes, buying homeless people warm clothes in the winter or a hot meal. It's a daily occurrence because that is literally what their job is. Most officers will happily tell you it's about more than just putting people in jail. If only the media would publicize the good stories as much as they do the bad ones...
  7. I have it; and haven't stopped playing it since day 1. I don't usually have much luck with online shooters. I used to play Counter Strike in all it's iterations, Day of Defeat, Battlefield, and Call of Duty. The only one I ever stuck with for any length of time was Battlefield and I dropped that like a bad habit after my first few rounds of TitanFall. Respawn just got some big things right for me and I'm hooked. While there is a lot I would like to see changed or improved in later updates or in TitanFall 2, the game's core mechanics and game play are what really matter. Overall, I think the game is fantastic and highly recommend it to anyone. I'm going to be playing this game until TitanFall 2 comes out. Good Things: -BALANCE. This is the single biggest victory that TitanFall has over other shooters. There is no single weapon or peice of equipment that will instantly turn the tide of a fight. Everything is balanced, everything has a counter, and even the Titans themselves are not ridiculously over powered. -Game play. The game play is fresh and innovative and never gets old for me. Between the wall running and parkour and the use of tactics and Titans, every match is different, every match is fun, and every match makes me feel like I've accomplished something even if I have a "bad round". Part of this is just the basic mechanics themselves, the wall running completely changes the game from what conventional shooters have. I also love that it is only 6 vs 6. The scale of the maps and the amped up ability of the pilots would just turn it into a cluster if there were more pilots in the match. I just remember my days of CoD where I would spawn and be killed within 10-15 seconds because there were so many players running around knifing or shotgunning people. TitanFall fills in the gaps by adding AI controlled "grunts" and "spectres", up to 16 at a time for each team. These "minions" are almost useless and do not have the mobility or lethality that pilots do, but they certainly can kill you if you don't take them seriously. While they mainly serve as cannon fodder, it helps to make you feel like you're accomplishing something and not being slaughtered by a pilot every 15 seconds. The grunts also contribute some of the most hysterical commentary I've ever heard and really help to add the the lore of the TitanFall universe. -Campaign. The game is strictly multiplayer yes, but there is a campaign mode with does a laudable attempt at infusing a story. -Mechanics. Some of my favorite mechanics in the game are the burn cards. Burn cards are sort of like the "kill / death streaks" from Call of Duty. They are one time use cards that give you a buff as long as you stay alive. Things like more lethal weapons, extra grenades, shave time off your Titan drop, earn double XP, etc. None of these are really over powered, and they only last until you die, but using the right burn card at the right time can really help your team along. Burn cards add a welcome element of strategy and planning that I haven't seen in any other game, and they don't end up feeling cheap or being spammed like the CoD streaks did. The addition of the Black Market where you can sell unwanted burn cards and buy other card packs that you want was a great change with the last free update. -TEAMWORK. Teamwork wins the match, period. I am an objective based player and I do not enjoy "kill all the things" game modes. The scoring in TitanFall is largely geared towards objective and teamwork based actions, so I thrive and consistently am the MVP for my team. Bad Things: -Campaign. I know I listed this a good thing above, but it's taken a turn for the worse with the last update. In an effort to help smooth out the match making, they changed the campaign mode from a legitimate campaign mode to a continuous loop playlist of the campaign missions in order. Unfortunately, they also now have the match making swap teams before every match. So, you could be on the IMC one match and the Militia the next, which basically makes the stories and characters disjointed and nothing more than background noise. But, it's still better than the conventional multiplayer formula. -Match Making. The game uses match making instead of dedicated servers. While they've made some significant improvements in the way the match making works, it still leaves me scratching my head sometimes and it may take a few minutes to find a match depending on the time of day and the game mode you've selected. The match making also uses a "skill" system rather than your level to determine who to pair you with, and the skill ranking you have is based on session. So, when you first start paying for the day you'll have no "skill" history until you've played a few matches. Once you've got a few matches done and the system ranks your skill, it starts to match you with players of the same relative skill set so it's all good, but those first few rounds can either go really well, or really poorly. -A few balance wild cars. As I mentioned above, balance is everything in an online FPS, and TitanFall manages to handle balance exceedingly well. Except for a few things... Everyone's opinion is different, but there are 2 things that occasionally grief me; the Smart Pistol, and the Stryder Titan. The Smart Pistol is an auto lock on weapon that does not require you to aim; you simply keep an enemy in your field of view for a few seconds and the pistol locks onto the target with "homing" rounds that guarantee a kill. The biggest balance on this weapon is supposed to be the 3-5 seconds it takes to lock onto an enemy pilot and it leaves you vulnerable. However, skilled players use the game's parkour and wall running mechanics to out maneuver you since you have to aim down sights with a conventional weapon and they don't, and I frequently find myself getting mowed down by the Smart Pistol. I personally think it needs a nerf and I hope Respawn does too at some point. Fortunately it's not really used excessively, but it can be really annoying when someone brings it out. The Stryder is the "fast, but squishy" Titan. In my opinion it moves a little too fast, especially when it's dash core is activated allowing it to dash infinitely for a minute or two. I frequently see Stryder's practically ice skating around the map which makes them almost impossible to kill, and they crush everything and everyone under foot. It gets rather annoying in a hurry. Aside from these two minor balance issues, the game excels in this area, and these two complaints are largely my personal opinion. -Lack of customization and options. There is no character customization in this game; your appearance is based on what weapon you are using. There are only a handful of weapons, sidearms, and kits to choose from. They kept it small, but balanced, and there are only 3 Titans to choose from. Again, small but balanced, though this may be off putting for people looking to fully customize their character. They added limited Titan customization in a free update a while ago which offers a custom emblem and Titan Operating System Voice, but that's about it.
  8. Maybe they weren't trying to take the cell phones so that there's "no evidence", but rather they needed the cell phone video because it IS evidence and can be an essential part of the investigation. Logic can be a strange thing sometimes.

  10. Yes there is, I don't know where it is written though. But for example, in the US if you are convicted of a felony crime your rights are limited; in some cases rather severely. Convicted felons cannot own firearms, in some cases cannot vote or serve in the military, and other restrictions depending on the conviction.
  11. I'm sorry but what does protesting corporations have to do with local law enforcement and alleged police brutality? And if you're referring to an incident that happened in history, it clearly wasn't that effective since people are still implying that "brutality" is rampant in today's society. I doubt repeating an ineffective boycott would have an effect the second time around. And if Mike Brown was attempting to murder a police officer as some of the facts of the case indicate that he was, then that police officer has a legal right to defend himself including the use of deadly force. No one "deserves" to die, but some people deserve what they get in response for their actions and decisions. "When you do what you did, you get what you got." - Jimmy Johns Restaurant Signs

  14. I haven't seen any threads about this yet so I thought I'd post. Yesterday there were riots and looting in the St. Louis area following an officer involved shooting incident that resulted in the death of an 18 year old man. The rioters have been looting businesses, damaging police cars, shooting indiscriminately into crowds, shooting at the police helicopters, and shooting at fire/ems personnel trying to respond. I've seen reports of a gas station also being burned down after being looted, and a local police municipality being broken into, looted, and the patrol cars being damaged, and even the media vans being damaged. All of this resulted from an altercation between a Freguson police officer and an 18 year old male. The facts released by the department state that the 18 year old began to fight with the police officer, pushed the officer back into his patrol car when he attempted to exit, and was struggling with the officer attempting to take the officers gun. The officer fired at least 1 shot inside his patrol car which caused the suspect to exit the car and run, the officer pursued and ended up fatally shooting the suspect a short distance away from the patrol car. The media has reported that the "unarmed" teenager was surrendering with his "hands in the air" when the officer "gunned him down in the street", most initial news reports made no mention of the struggle for the officers gun. As a result of the media reports, a crowd assembled, and what started as a peaceful protest turned into violent rioting. Thoughts and prayers to all those involved for a safe resolution with no further injury or loss. This senseless violence is not how normal, civilized people behave. http://www.kmov.com/special-coverage-001/Reports-Ferguson-protests-turn-violent-270697451.html
  15. It looks like a Setina sticker on the top of the ram bar. It's been blurred, like the faces in the picture, but it definitely looks like a Setina sticker and a Setina ram bar.
  16. Kill it! Kill it with fire! Seriously though, I saw the concept design for the new Charger a few months ago and my opinion of it hasn't changed. They need to remove the Dart influence and let the Charger have its own identity. The car is just ugly.
  17. That could be a violation of department policy, and possibly the law in some states. Again, it all depends on the state and the legal precedent in that state. I know some places say that the lack of a "reasonable expectation of privacy" that I described in my earlier post would not be a violation of privacy law for an officer to record you, however, it may be a violation of privacy law for him to use that recording outside official duties (presenting it as evidence in court). Think of it like a drive through liquor store (For those outside the US or not familiar with these stores, yes, they do exist). Some people always make comments about, "How can that be legal". Well, it's not against the law to have an alcohol container in a vehicle. But it IS against the law to have an OPEN alcohol container in a car, or to operate a car under the influence of alcohol. So as long as you buy a sealed container while you're sober, and keep the container sealed until you get home, it's legal. It may not be illegal for an officer to record someone with a personal camera, but it may be illegal for him to USE that video under certain circumstances. And again, that doesn't say that the department will allow personal cameras to be used.
  18. It all depends on the state. 50 states, 50 different laws. As a general answer, yes. Even if its on a personal camera, if the recording was done for lawful purposes during an official action, most case law that I'm aware of says that peace officers can video and or audio record anything they want. Dash camera, body camera, etc. The biggest issue is the right to privacy, but courts have ruled numerous times that when you're interacting with a police officer, anything you say or do can be used against you in a court of law and a police officers testimony is considered to be credible beyond reproach without sufficient evidence to the contrary. Basically, the case law I'm familiar with says that you have no reasonable expectation of privacy when interacting with a police officer, so there is no violation of your rights if the officer is recording, even with a personal camera.
  19. Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Glad to know that people are enjoying the car. I've got a few other projects in the works so keep an eye out for those in the coming weeks. Happy gaming, and stay safe out there on the streets!
  20. Congratulations guys! Always good to see the community growing.

  22. I've been trying to research this topic as well. From what I've been able to figure out, you need a more powerful program like AutoDesk's 3DS Max, which is capable of converting a multitude of file formats into the .wft file type that is used by GTA IV. 3DS Max is also a much more powerful 3D modeling program for creating scratch made parts, and it's also rather expensive. Occasionally I've seen it on sale for college students and such, but right now the full price version on thier website is $3,675. Or you can pay for it monthly at $185 / month. http://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-max/buy Hopefully someone with more experience and knowledge about the actual process of acquiring models and converting them to GTA IV will come along and provide their insight also.
  23. This sounds and looks like a LOD (Level of Detail) issue. GTA renders different objects on each car at different distances, the goal being to use less detailed parts as you get farther away from the car. I'm assuming your light bar model itself is "misc_c" in your hierarchy, so you'll need to check that and make sure you have your LOD parts set up and placed correctly. You should have at least an "_L0" and "_L1". For example, "misc_c_L0" and "misc_c_L1". You'll need to move each object separately, so basically what's happening is this: You imported the light bar, and then you moved it to the top of the truck. When you did that, you only had the _L0 of the light bar selected, so the _L1 of the light bar is still in the dead center of the car, where it defaults to when you imported it. It's hard to explain in text but, hopefully you understand what I'm talking about. A quick way to check for these issues is to use OpenIV. Open the car in the model viewer, and on the side of the screen theres an option for Level of Detail. You can select High (_L0), Medium (_L1), and Low (_L2) in OpenIV and view the car with all the related parts.
