  2. I'm curious about mapping interior lights that are illuminated, for things like a dash camera or center console switches. I would think it works kind of like mapping wig wags; just create a duplicate and map it to some part that lights up, like a headlight, since GTA automatically turns on the headlights at night. But, as far as I can tell the headlights only illuminate at night which is fine, since you can't really see the lights on switches and such during the day as prominently as night. But I know I've used some models that have the dash camera / console lights illuminated all the time so I'm curious how it works. I thought I'd see if anyone more experienced knows how this is done and wanted to share the advice.
  3. Yeah i figured when I was re-shaping the interior of the car that I must have moved some stuff around. Thanks for the help.
  4. Thanks for the help guys; here's my hierarchy. The only thing I added to the car was the center console and laptop, which I labeled misc_y. I'm trying to add one thing at a time and check as I go to make sure I'm doing each step correctly since it's my first car. I'm pretty sure I just accidentally moved my wheels so, I'm glad to know I was on the right train of thought. I messed around with the center console and the hump in the middle of the floor trying to make the police console fit better. I had to redo it like 4 times because I kept deleting / moving the wrong polys on the floor, so as soon as I saw the in game results I was almost positive I dragged the wheels along with the floor. I guess I'm going to have to practice more or find another way to fit the police console in there... The things we learn by screwing it up right?
  5. So, I'm working on my first model, and was pretty excited to have made some big progress today. Finally got though modifying a center console and laptop and getting them in the right place in the car. It only took about 3 hours last night, and about 7 hours today, and I only had to start over about 3 times after making stupid mistakes along the way. *sigh* I finally get it put together and go in game to test it, and somehow I turned my police car into a monster truck... It looks fine in zModeler, but not so much in game. I have no idea what I did, or how to fix it but, I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'm posting these pics here not to ask for help, but so you can all have a good laugh at my expense since we've all made silly mistakes along the way. Mistakes are part of the learning process but, I have to wonder how any of you cope with it sometimes Pics are in the spoiler below.
  6. Thanks for the help. Big step forward in helping me get some things done, and learn even more.
  7. Hey guys, I've been looking for an unlocked dash cam and prisoner partition I can use to finish up my first car release. I had planned on using the ones that BxBugs had when I found them in the list of unlocked parts here, but obvously that isn't going to work anymore. Google and searching a few other sites hasn't turned up any other options so, would anyone be willing to provide some suggestions on where I can find an unlocked dash cam and partition?
  8. "Murphy, it's you..." I couldn't resist a line from one of my favorite movies. But seriously though, now that you mention it I do beleive the liveries are transparant. When I open the car in OpenIV, it works fine, but all 4 liveries are transparant. I guess I just need to install a solid color livery into the number 1 slot for working with the car in zModeler. Boy, the little things that can screw you up with this program... That fixed it. I put a solid color texture on and it works like a charm. Thanks a lot for the help! Now if only I could find some awesome tutorials to answer the 5,398 other noob questions I have. Oh well, one crisis at a time! Thanks again.
  9. Hey guys, I'm trying to import CJ24's unlocked Crown Victoria that I downloaded from the Development Resources section here. I import all the vehshare textures to the library, then import the CVPI specific textures, then import the wft file, and the car appears to import incomplete as you can see in the attatched image. No error messages are displayed in zModeler, and this is the only unlocked car I've had trouble with so far. What am I missing?
  10. THIS. I'm one of those people, trying to learn how to do things the right way and how to create above standard content. Unfortunately, there just aren't that many great tutorials out there anymore so, it's a slow going learning process; it's really unfortunate.
  11. I wonder if these spam emails happen through Enjin then. I know there are alot of random start up clans that use Enjin for their website, and everything anyone does on Enjin is linked to their profiles there. Looking at the original post, I see that one of those emails is for a group using Enjin. The other one's website is using a .tk domain which I'm honestly not familiar with. Google says that .tk domains are just generic free domains so, I guess my theory that it's tied to Enjin somehow isn't correct. I find it even more unfortunate that the group using the .tk domain, Liberty County DPS, has directly plaigarised a signifigant amount of material from my community. Almost their entire website is a direct copy / paste job from mine. These are definitely the type of people that give role play communities a bad reputation, and are the reason that the clan forums and the group system here on LCPDFR had to be disabled. I don't think I'll ever understand why theft of various types is so apparently rampant in the GTA world. But, it does explain why so many "clans" seem to start up and shut down overnight... It's hard to be succesful when your leadership has no ethics or commitment. If anyone's emails are being retrived thourgh LCPDFR.com, I'm sure the staff will find and close those loopholes. I see that Jay and Luke are already looking into it, so thanks to them and the rest of the LCPDFR team.
  12. Wow. That's really disappointing. It's groups / people like that that give the rest of us a bad reputation and cause all sorts of trouble. I find it interesting that both of those emails advertising for different clans are worded in a similar fashion.
  13. No problem, thanks for the help anyway. Maybe I'll get lucky with 1.0C and controller input can be made as a selectable option in the ini file.
  14. Thanks for the suggestion, but that unfortunately doesn't work for me. I set all the values to None but LCPDFR is still trying to prompt me to use the controller. But now that the keys are mapped to None, it doesn't know what key to use so I can't do anything. It shows me options like "Press ~ for Speeding", "Press ~ for Aggressive Driving" etc. I try to just use the keyboard but it seems that once LCPDFR thinks I'm using the controller it won't respond to keyboard input.
  15. I've opened up a support ticket about this issue a while ago and have been trying to find solutions with the support team. So far, the only thing I've been able to find a solution for is to disable the quick action menu in the LCPDFR ini by setting it's control map to "none", since on the controller that is the left stick, which also does my siren tones. I would personally pefer to simply disable controller support altogether as an option in the LCPDFR configuration, so I can drive and walk with my controller, and use the keyboard for LCPDFR like I have been for the last few years. I know some people don't prefer to play that way, but it's the best way I've found so far to avoid any conflicts with control mapping, which is why I wish it were a selectable option. Like disabling the transport cut scenes, the police audio, etc, that were added with the 1.0B release. For those that are having this controller conflict issue, here is the link to the support request thread so if we get any answers there, we can all follow it. '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> That is correct. The dev team have said that they didn't intend for LCPDFR to be used for multiplayer. I wish that I had the knowledge and skill required to create a multiplayer version of LCPDFR though. Really, the only functionality needed for multiplayer is the ability to conduct traffic stops and interact with peds. We wouldn;t need call outs or ambient scenarios, or AI police options, or roadblocks etc. A multiplayer version would really just need a barebones release of traffic stop scritping and interacting with peds. Maybe one day I'll learn enough about scripts to put something together, but until then LCPDFR .95 does a great job for multiplayer, and I'm hoping that 1.0 will soon too.
  16. Sorry to bump this post, but I've recently tried using LCPDFR 1.0B since it was released, and I'm still having trouble with the Xbox controller for windows. As I said in the original post, when I'm on a traffic stop or trying to work with a Ped, LCPDFR is prompting me to press the controller buttons to select the different dialog options (the Dpad buttons by default). However, all these controls do other things in GTA, such as changing weapons, etc. Sometimes LCPDFR prompts me to select keyboard commands, and sometimes it prompts me to select controller buttons. Sometimes it will change the prompts half way through an interaction. Is there a way that I can simply disable the controller support, and use only the keyboard commands like I currently do with version .95?
  17. It is NOT Liberty City where I play. That's the beauty of a fictitous video game world; it can be anywhere we choose it to be. Whether that's Liberty City, New York City, Los Angeles, Alaksa, New Orleans, or anywhere in between is up to the person playing the game. Like I said, to each their own. That's what makes it fun.
  18. That depends on where you live. Where I live, you'd get a traffic citation for "Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device." Reckless driving is a completely separate charge here, which requires a person to be operating a vehicle "in wilful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property." Running a red light is a simple traffic citation. Reckless driving is an arrestable offense as a misdemeanor crime. It's all relative to where you live. Back on the original topic, it's really a matter of personal preference. I always select $40 as the fine amount because it really makes no difference to me. In the real world where I live, the Deputy doesn't collect the fine during the traffic stop and the fines are variable based on a number of factors leading up the charge. You don't find out how much the fine is until you go to the court house, so the fine amount in GTA isn't relevant for my play style. Of course, the role play community I'm with also has our own internal records management system to track citations, charges, and dispositions so again the fine amount in LCPDFR isn't relevant. I could see how some people might want extra fine options to fit their play style though. To each their own.
  19. Hah, I wish. My computer is pretty high end so FSX looks great, but not that good. It's the E145XR. I'm a First Officer with ExpressJet airlines operating under the United Express side of the company.
  20. I used to play FS all the time. I had all the add ons, scenery, etc. I'm still with Delta Virtual Airlines and used to fly like 2-3 legs in the Maddog Pro with track IR back in the day. I still control on VATSIM, though I haven't done much flying lately. Probably because I fly every day at work so, flight sim kind of lost its appeal. That combined with my GTA gaming taking up most of my free time... The view from my office: Terrain off the departure end flying out of Oaxaca, Mexico. The terrain map on the ground at Oaxaca, Mexico.
  21. That's Duluth PD for you. They have the money to spend on cool tech like that.
  22. I support equality for all people. I really don't care if it's called marriage or civil union or whatever, it's just the legal rights and benefits that I'm looking for; basic rights that all human beings should have. Some opponents like to claim that it would be a "slippery slope" and that if we allow same sex marriage we would have to allow pedophilia and beastiallity next, but those two concepts are missing something important that both heterosexual and homosexual marriage have in common; consenting adults. Besides, I don't see why gay people shouldn't be allowed to fall in love, get married, grow to hate each other, go through a nasty divorce, and lose half their stuff like everyone else...
  23. Does anyone here watch Kitchen Nightmares? There was an episode about a restaurant in Baltimore called Cafe Hon, that actually did trademark the word "hon". The public was outraged and the place almost went out of business. The owner ultimately had to release her trademark on the word. The idea of trademarking such a common word is simply ridiculous in my opinion, and I'll never understand how things like this get approved.
  24. I will certainly agree that having a set of clear and easily identifiable rules is the first step to solving most problems like this. There is a big difference between what people "shouldn't" do, and what they "can't" do. While theft itself may not be a large problem, it certainly does seem to generate the most drama, and with good reason. People work hard on their projects, whether it be something like LCPDFR, a vehicle model, a community, or anything else, and it's easy to become upset when that idea or material is stolen, as I'm sure most everyone here understands. At the same time, one of the points that Sam was making in his original post is that these issues are too often not reported at all and simply left to dissolve into an immature verbal argument in the comments section. It's been stressed repeatedly that any issues or suspicions should be reported to the staff here to deal with. I was simply saying that if in the future any type of specific theft review committee were created, I would personally be happy to volunteer and serve.
