  1. No surprise, the facts indicated that the incident was a good shooting within the bounds of the law. Someone can't be indicted when they didn't actually commit a crime. Now the prosecutors office should file perjury charges against everyone who testified before the grand jury making statements that have been proven to be false.
  2. Textbook good shoot, well within the bounds of the law. After any Officer Involved Shooting, there will always be people wanting to know why the officer didn't just shoot him in the arm or something. The answer to that question is simple; because it just doesn't work. When the human body goes into "fight or flight" mode during an adrenaline rush, pain is suppressed and the brain can cause your body to push through significant physical injury, including gun shots. Add in the possibility of someone being under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol, and shooting someone in the arm or leg can literally have zero effect on the person. Not to mention the impractically of expecting even a good marksman to hit a small moving target like an arm or leg without putting undue risk to anyone in the background. Tasers are also ineffective for the same reason, although in this specific case it's been reported that the officer did not have a taser because the department cannot afford them. Here's a good example in the video below. The suspect was shot 5 times, including TWICE in the head, once in the chest, once in the shoulder, and once in his wrist. Despite that, and even despite being shot twice in the head and once in the chest, the suspect not only survived, but still retained full body control and was coherent enough to get out of the car after being shot, but to comply with the officers commands after the shooting. The suspect wasn't laying there dead, or even screaming in pain, because his body suppressed the pain sensation and essentially ignored the injuries. Austin, TX Officer Involved Shooting 08/31/2013 That is why police do not, and should not try to shoot people in the arms or legs, or anywhere other than center mass with continuous fire until the threat has been completely stopped.
  3. Yeah, that was probably it. The Futo line currently has this "strong+truckfirefx". Weird... Anyway I put the other flags back in and that seems to have fixed the issue; thanks a lot!
  4. I've lately been seeing a lot of Futo's driving around the map with no hood. After doing some testing, that's one of the car components that can be selected through the trainer, along with a few other Hood options. I never used to see this option with the AI traffic though, so I think I broke something recently while messing with some vehicle mods. I tried looking around through the common/data folder to see if there were any config files that dealt with car components, and I found some reference to car extras in the "default.ide" file, but I couldn't really find a specific section of that file that looked like it was referencing which components go on which cars. Does anyone have any experience with setting specific car components to spawn with certain cars?
  5. Personally, like most things, I believe the determination should be based on the circumstances. In a case of a diagnosed and medically proven illness that reasonable medical science cannot cure, then I don't see any problem with someone chosing to end their life before they endure pain and suffering beyond belief. In a case of "my girlfriend / boyfriend broke up with me" or "I hate my parents, they ruin everything", or other such "life isn't worth living for" mentality, I think they should be stopped and treated and time will make them realize how idiotic that feeling is. Legally speaking, suicide and assisted suicide is currently illegal in the US because the judicial system assumes that someone who has made the decision to end their own life is not mentally competent to be making such a decision. They courts basically have ruled that a suicidal person has a mental health issue that makes them incompetent and should be treated.
  6. The wording is everything. Based on the physical evidence and the witness testimony that has been presented, I personally don't believe that "a white cop shot an unarmed black teen". Race should have nothing to do with anything, and the facts of the case provide indications beyond a reasonable doubt that what actually happened was: A police officer lawfully used lethal force to neutralize a suspect that posed an imminent threat after committing multiple felony crimes and failing to comply with lawful orders to stop. Those are the facts relevant to the case, and a court cannot find the officer "guilty" when he hasn't broken any laws. George Zimmerman went free because as defined by law, he committed no crimes. Was he stupid and irresponsible, yes, but he did not break the law and you can't put someone in jail that is innocent. ^^^ This.^^^ If people would take the time to understand the facts and reasonably understand and apply the law, then no one would be protesting over this incident in the first place. Personally, I'm all for justice and I respect the law and the process. If the facts turn out to prove that Officer Wilson violated the law or department policy, then he should be fired and charged in order to ensure justice is served. But so far, the facts and evidence indicate that his actions were well within his rights as a person and a police officer, and the bounds of the law, and these protesters screaming for "justice" refuse to even acknowledge the possibility that justice may have already been served. I wish people who disagree with the law and think we need to change things would direct their frustration at the politicians that make the laws, not the police officers on the street that are bound to comply with and enforce them.
  7. I'll have to sort through that. I have noticed that I have a lot of duplicate materials with the cars I've built, sometimes the same material will appear 2 or 3 times in the materials list. I'll start renaming them and see if that helps, thanks for the tip. I'll check that too. I've not intentionally messed with the Default Material so it might have gotten changed without me knowing. Thanks!
  8. Most of us working with zModeler have likely experienced or at least heard of the infamous "RC20 - Invalid Resource Detected" crash that can occur with cars that we've built. I've recently experienced 2 particularly nasty and seemingly un-fixable RC20 crashes with 2 separate cars this week. I've spent the last 3 days researching everything I can get my hands on regarding this crash but the general answer seems to be, "no one really knows what exactly causes it." We've got quite a few experienced people here, and even more inexperienced people who are eager to learn, so I thought I would reach out to the rest of you and see if anyone has any suggestions on how to overcome the RC20 crash, and how to avoid it in the future. First, a little humor before we go on... The first time I encountered the RC20 was with a Dodge Charger I was working on a few months ago. When it happened, I was able to roll back to a previous save and re-build the car from there without any further issue. Last week I was putting finishing touches on a Ford Interceptor Utility I've been working on when the RC20 happened. I rolled back to a previous save, a previously WORKING save that I had tested in game just minutes earlier, and to my surprise it was now also experiencing the RC20. I ended up having to roll back 5 saves to find one that was working. I spent a few hours rebuilding the car from that point, testing in game along the way, only to encounter the RC20 again. At that point I gave up out of frustration and decided to try again later and I switched gears to a Tahoe. I spent all day putting the same equipment into a Tahoe only to once again encounter the RC20 crash during final testing. Same issue as before, I rolled back to a previous save and they were now also having the RC20, when they were fully functional before. Logic might suggest that the equipment I'm putting into the cars might be the problem, but I've used the exact same equipment on 3 other cars so far without any issues so I can't believe that would be the problem. What about you guys? What have you done to mitigate the RC20?

  11. I use an Xbox Controller for walking and driving. It's way better than trying to drive with a keyboard.
  12. You dragged a dummy somewhere. The wheel mesh is positioned based on the dummies when you go in game, so it may look correct in zMod and OpenIV. Check your wheel dummy's, and also check the dummy's for the model itself at the top of your hierarchy. If all the wheel dummy's are in place, then it's probably the model dummy. I was able to fix this issue when I had it by dragging everything in the "chassis" tree out, deleting the vehicle name and dummy (ie. polpatriot.wft) from the hierarchy, then creating a new dummy and renaming it, then dragging the chassis back in.
  13. It's not, unfortunately. I've been looking for a good Caprice model for months, but I don't yet have the skill to buy one and convert it myself so I've just kind of been waiting to see if someone decides to release one somewhere. I stumbled across the link to that Trewq's in Google, but the file isn't there any more.
  14. No issues here. Have you tried to re-install OpenIV with a fresh download from their website?
  15. No, that's not what the law says in any way. The law says that you cannot provide services or food to homeless people within 500 feet of a residential property. The intent of the law is to keep homeless people out of residential areas where there have been instances of crimes such as trespassing, assault, burglary, and robbery committed by homeless people who are desperate and looking for money or jewelry or other property they can sell for money. The intent and purpose of these laws is to protect the hard working citizens of the area and prevent crimes, and encourage homeless people to utilize the government funded shelters and food banks. If a citizen wants to volunteer to help the homeless, they should go volunteer at these facilities. Over 30 major US cities have these laws including Seattle, Los Angeles, Pheonix, Dallas, and Philadelphia. This is nothing new, and the only reason it made the news is because the two guys that are the subject of the article are "pastors", which is completely irrelevant, and because the media and the public in this country are on the bandwagon of "police over reach and rights violations". These two people were given warnings first, advised of the 500 foot rule, and asked to move. When they refused to comply with a lawful order, they were cited. Don't break the law, and the police won't bother you. If you disagree with a certain law, take it up with the politicians that made the law, not the police officers on the street. It's really that simple, yet most of the American public doesn't understand and doesn't want to learn how our system has always worked.
