In addition to my previous post, I have found out the issue with my laptop. All the partitions have gone and there is nothing on there, not even the recovery partition . I can't even load up Windows to try and fix this issue. Anyone any ideas?

Hey everyone, I've searched everywhere on the internet for a solution and I just can't seem to find one, so I'm reaching out to the tech wizards of LCPDFR! Around 1 month ago, I turned my laptop on and it said something along the lines of: No operating system found. I had no idea what had happened. I put Windows 8 .iso which it was previously running on the laptop onto a USB and booted from USB. That worked fine but when I clicked 'Install Now', it said that windows cannot locate any of the drivers for the laptop. The only way I could get my laptop working was by installing Ubuntu from a USB. My laptop is a: Sony VAIO SVF1521P2EB My laptop didn't come with a recovery disc. I have tried all sorts and it just doesn't seem to allow me to put Windows on the laptop. I sent my laptop back to PC World where it was purchase and they said there is nothing they can do, it's missing the original drivers. What do I do now? My girlfriend has exactly the same laptop as me. Is it possible to make a recovery USB from her laptop and plug it into mine and make my laptop work? Any help at all would be appreciated! Thank you!

Thanks for this. I have an external monitor connected at the minute and the picture displays on that. Does this mean it's definitely a back light problem?

Where do I buy a backlight and is it a generic bulb? I tried this but didn't work. Thanks anyway.

Hi, My uncle owns a paper shop and he has a touch screen till. It's an all in one, so we can't just change the monitor. The till is a black screen when you turn it in. The touchscreen works because when you press the screen it still beeps and on the temporary monitor which isn't touchscreen being used with a mouse, the touchscreen does work. Does anyone know what the problem with it is?

I ran Ubuntu from my USB, but then I installed it to hard drive so I disconnected USB and it runs from hard drive now. So if I know the hard drive is fine, what do I do to get windows back?

But I can run Ubuntu so surely there is nothing wrong with my hard drive?

I've just installed Ubuntu and that works fine. What do you mean you're not sure if it's possible to reformat my hard drive? Does this mean there is nothing I can do?

Hi, I'm completely stuck and have no idea what to do. As far as i'm aware, my laptop can't be fixed. Whenever I turn on my laptop, it says 'Your VAIO failed to start windows. No operating system could be found." I tried using the recovery disc but it says the drivers can't be found. So what shall I do? It was a £900 laptop and I've only had it 6 months.

Hey everyone, I've been trying to get used to windows 8 for about 4 months now and it's just not happening. I'm using to Windows 7 on my desktop and I want my laptop which came pre-loaded with Windows 8 to be Windows 7 as well. I went into the store where I bought it from but they just told me to download Shell8 but it's still not Windows 7 at the end of the day. Does anyone know how I can downgrade my laptop to Windows 7? Thanks!

How do you go about upgrading Windows 7, it doesn't retail any more does it? And I'm not a fan of Windows 8 at all! In addition, could you maybe post me some links of recommended graphics cards to upgrade to if you get a chance please?
