I'm not exaggerating, I have no reason to, don't get me wrong, I love the Ford Taurus & how it looks, but unless they make some drastic changes to the model it will never be as tough as the CVPI, most of their Taurus Units are at the very least on their seconds transmissions & have had at least 1 engine swap, the towing company I work for has the Halifax Regional Police & RCMP towing contracts for towing rotation & we tow their vehicles when they break down, it's cool towing Police Vehicles but not cool for them because it happens so often & it's generally big things like an engine problem.
But advertising their cars seems to be a huge thing but the average joe doesn't know anything about a Police Vehicle, most people think they come from the factory built like that & they're just snap on parts that cost $200,000.... I'm not at all really a Chev fan but the Caprice from what I've read would have been the best choice for Police use, couple HRP Officers say that they would have like them more since they are both V8 & RWD & fast as hell & very reliable, FPI's from what the cop told me the Taurus was just as bad on fuel as the Crown Vic since it's AWD all the time & they're cramped inside, every cop I've spoken too says the don't want to retire the Crown Vic but will probably see them around until at least 2020 since they bought so many of them.
Some places don't do emissions tests, they are not required bylaw in some places.
