Is LCPDFR's Community Team Efficient?
I'm just going to put one of the things you said in bold because I think it's pretty spot on and needs addressing in my eyes. If a police officer walks down the street on patrol, and hears shouting and screaming he will investigate the source of the disturbance. Meanwhile he might have missed the guy quietly taking someone's car in the side street. Why? He didn't see it, he didn't hear it, he didn't even know there was a car or a guy in that side street. Now apply that to the forum. We can moderate what we see, we see a thread like this one for example suddenly arise, with a somewhat controversial title (by this I mean, a title which is going to provoke a vast amount of responses) and we go in to see what is being said and how people are behaving. Meanwhile, in an entirely different section of the site (let's say the gallery comments for example) someone is behaving inappropriately. We didn't see it, we didn't hear it. We didn't even know that image got comments (while we were viewing the troublesome thread). In the police scenario however, the car owner will have noticed a lack of car. He will have taken his magical device and dialed [insert your specific emergency service number here], "hello police, someone stole my car". What happens next? Car details get passed on, police know about it and can look out for it, and investigate. Or maybe an innocent bystander heard a window smash, looked around the corner to see the thief hotwire the car and they called the police. Oh hey look now the police have 2 accounts of the same incident, 2 different perspectives, 2 sets of information (1 of which includes details about what they witnessed). The police now have evidence, they have more information and they can now find the thief and the car. Now take our forum example, the original image author, he...did nothing. The innocent forum user who saw the comments....clicked the back button and went to view other things. The mis-behaving person gets worse, provoking more people, and then when they eventually get punished, the people who jumped on the band wagon get punished too and suddenly "OMG WHY DID YOU PUNISH ME I DID NOTHING YOU SUCK". Imagine if you had of dialed the community team and "reported" (hint hint) the issue. How different would it be? You wouldn't go and complain that the police are doing nothing about your stolen car if you nor anyone else reported it stolen, would you? Just some food for thought.... On another note. This thread, good. Keep it. Things don't improve magically, you give feedback and the object gets better. Yeah really. Amazing, right? You give feedback about something and it makes a difference, incredible! Don't believe me?: • People gave feedback about windows 8, Microsoft re-added the start button. People were happier with this. • People reported that the Battlefield 4 multiplayer was very buggy on release, Dice fixed it (or...tried to at least) and some people were happier. • People cried out that they really wanted GTA V for PC and OMG GTA V PC HYPE #ChooChoo • This list goes on for hundreds and millions everything If you don't like something, let the guys who can do something about it know. Don't be snobby or rude about it. There is absolutely nothing wrong about going "excuse me, could you perhaps do something about _____ because I think it's _____"

Advice on a New Headset
Evening folks, Ok so I'm looking to get a new headset soon/for christmas, but I have quite a problem that I'm hoping others can help me with. I currently have a Turtle Beach Earforce P11 (The red one they designed for PS3). The quality isn't great, but it's not terrible either, the issue is I wear glasses. After 30 minutes or more of wearing the headset the glasses I wear pretty much become embedded into the side of my skull, this is extremely painful. No, I can't get contact lenses before you suggest that, 1) I can't stand them, and 2) I only need glasses for reading/being at a computer (longsighted). I'm looking to get something with better quality sound, but also is comfortable and preferably over ear headphones rather than in-ear ones. It also needs to have a long enough cable to reach my pc and needs to have a reasonable mic with it. I'd say money is no object but to limit the amount of gold plated, diamond encrusted headsets or stupidly expensive professional audio kits I'm going to say anything < £150. Any advice on good headsets is appreciated, but preferably advice from those of you who happen to wear glasses would be beneficial. Cheers.

[API][WIP/REL] Callouts+ - Additional LCPDFR API Callouts
Hi, thanks for the feedback :) I'm not too sure what it would take to be honest, I do know that it would take a lot of time gathering enough translations to make it worth my time, and that would also rely on a trustworthy set of translations from native speakers in each language. I mean it's no good me translating the mod into 1 language, then having a group of people complain I didn't do their language, or have people submit a translation that turns out to be something completely different. But I'll have a look into it when I get some free time (in other words when all my coursework is finished) and see what it would need. No promises that it will ever be implemented though.

[API][WIP/REL] Callouts+ - Additional LCPDFR API Callouts
News, Updates and Information: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> If some of you haven't seen the above link posted recently go and check it out. As it states, the development team have been working on a new patch for LCPDFR titled 1.0d. You may also recall me saying multiple times that a new update for Callouts+ is in the works, several times I've mentioned a bug that is "fixed in the next update" but never given a release date. Well now it's time for me to let you know what is going on... Why has it taken so long to release a patch? Well in truth I began my second year at university in October. I monumentally screwed up in my earlier years at college and don't really want to repeat that and subsequently limit my future. So I've obviously taken priority to making sure all of my efforts go to my degree and not this plugin. The plugin is in a stable state if I recall correctly. Honestly I haven't looked at the code or tested it for a month or 2 now but will obviously run a huge amount of tests as soon as 1.0d is out. I understand, so what can we expect, when will it be done? (etc) When 1.0d is out and appears to be stable enough, I'll convert Callouts+ 0.6 to the 1.0d patch, run tests and push it to the kind people who help me test it. It will come with all of the bugfixes I've previously mentioned, as well as some new features I've worked on, there are no spoilers as to what is being added, partly because I've forgotten and partly because surprise is more fun. It's not a massive release. Going from 0.5 to 0.6 is merely some updates, some fixes and a couple of small additions. And of course the merging with the latest LCPDFR release. Will this plugin die? It's been over 30 days since a post... Eventually, yes. With the GTA V PC hype train approaching it's destination this plugin will soon (hopefully) become a discontinued project. Why hopefully? Well because if all goes well GTA V will be moddable, we'll have an equivalent LCPDFR mod for GTA V and I'll be making plugins again....hopefully. I've been busy with university and other things which is why I put the plugin on hold so to speak. People don't reply if I say I've fixed bugs but not given any release. people stop asking for ideas if it isn't still the top thread in the mods section and slowly people give up. But for now, all is well. Sorry for the lack of updates and information, hope this answers any questions.

5 crazy ways social media is affecting your brain right now
This is an interesting topic that has been brought up. I'm more of a passive user of social media, I have a twitter account I don't tweet every 10 minutes about my life, I use it to see what my favourite youtuber's are saying or follow game devs. As for facebook, I don't post often either. I use that to keep in contact with friends or family as well as follow my local police force's updates. I find it odd to see my little brother (10) playing on a tablet, or on his laptop or xbox. When I was his age I was rolling around in the grass outside, I made a small enclosure out of wood, filled it with dirt and leaves and shit and trapped snails in it. I then tortured the snails by moving them back to the bottom every time one got close to escaping. But nowadays children don't seem to know what outside is. If it can't be done on an iPad then what's the point? There is a video that went around recently (ironically on social media) that makes a very good point, so I'll share it with you here:

Oh yeah... Well that sucks for everyone else, I got it on a 1 time payment.

concern
The pro version is much better, and given it's a 1 time payment I would highly recommend going premium. The pro version doesn't just do real time protection (which is very helpful) it also does real time website tracking to make sure it isn't a potential virus nest and beautifully it gives you their "chameleon" driver. What that does is if a virus shuts down your anti-virus software or stops it from executing (yes that can be done) the chameleon driver installs itself like a virus, kills all known virus processes and then boots malware bytes via the driver so it can't be blocked. It's not often used, but very very helpful if you do fuck up :) Also folks, employ a little common sense. If your best friend sends you an email "HEY CHECK OUT THIS WATCH SHOP I GOT A CHEAP WATCH!" With a link...it's probably a virus waiting to happen, don't be a moron and click it. And don't speed click through installers either. Some auto default to "yes" when they offer to install third party software. This can often result in unwanted programs.

What war do you find most intresting?
I think the following is an accurate response to the "what's your favorite war?" title... "...My friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori." If you don't know what that is from, go start your long train of research now. I really hope most people here do recognise it. To more directly answer the topic though, the events leading up to the First World War, right the way through to the end of the Second World War for me was the most interesting time to study. The First World War changed the world, especially with the events which occurred following the armistice. Everything from that point up to the end of the Second World War holds so much information that should never be forgotten or lost to the world because of how significant both wars were. Very much a lover of history.

Should UK Police Be Given Standard Issue Guns?
This is actually the kind of attitude I dislike about the armed police forces in the world and those in favour of guns. (I'm very much anti-guns). Why is it that only a firearm can protect you? Why can you not use your training to disarm the suspect, you have cs spray and a batton and a stab vest. Why must people insist that a gun is the only way to protect yourself? I have a black belt in a self-defence martial arts (probably why I am so anti-guns/anti-fighting), if someone ran at me with a knife I'd attempt to either run away or render the guy incapable of moving. I'd probably get hurt but at least I get to live. I don't NEED a gun to shoot him in the face 12 times and shout "yeah bitch how d'ya like that?!" because fuck you all I have a gun. There is absolutely no need for a gun, they cause more problems than they solve. And with that attitude comes the floodgate. "Well if the police need guns to protect themselves, we must need guns too" which leads to more deaths and more gun related crime. And saints, please bare in mind I'm not criticising you directly. More so the attitude as a general concept.
-
Should UK Police Be Given Standard Issue Guns?
Yes he probably was, but the point still stands. An ordinary unarmed police officer would not have the time to radio in for help if someone was sprinting at them with a knife. Besides, cs spray to the face and a batton to the wrist or ribs would throw the knife wielding maniac off, not to mention police wear stab vests as well. And that is correct, the majority of people in the UK (let alone the police) don't want the police to have guns. Also, this is totally why we don't need guns http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-29551793 (notice, the news article above is real, but only intended for light humour in passing, enjoy)
-
Should UK Police Be Given Standard Issue Guns?
If someone is sprinting at you with a knife you're gonna get stabbed regardless of how quickly the police show up. I mean, you can't exactly say "please wait a moment while I phone the police before you stab me, thanks"
-
Should UK Police Be Given Standard Issue Guns?
The chance that someone "happens to pull out a gun" is virtually zero. A person cannot legally acquire a gun and then carry it around in such a way that it happens in the states or other countries. As a result there is no need for us to equip firearms for safety. If a gun is spotted in the UK by a member of the public armed response units typically deal with it instantly.
-
Should UK Police Be Given Standard Issue Guns?
UK Police don't carry guns for a multitude of reasons. The UK law bans all guns, as a result we don't have any need for the police to be armed. Our armed response units are very quick to respond. The people saying 2 minutes is a long time need to take into account that 2 minutes to fully arm, brief and mobilize a team, dispatch them THROUGH LONDON to an incident is actually stupidly efficient, most people in London can't get anywhere in 2 minutes. (I guess flashing blue lights help though) There is also the fact that we can solve issues without the need to shoot someone in the face instantly, then ask questions, even when someone is waving a gun around. Not all officers carry a tazer standard issue either, we don't need them 99% of the time. UK police carry a batton, and CS spray as safety and that is it. Most powerful weapon we have is a badge and the ability to take all kinds of abuse.

Bad Year for the Mounties...
You don't have the right to tell other member's where they can and can't post or what they can and can't post, so please don't. As a matter of fact there is no direct topic in this thread, you listed some deaths....where is the discussion topic? Are we talking about how many cops die? Or are we talking about the RCMP specifically? I see nothing wrong with others questioning the deaths you listed or the reasoning behind those deaths. That to me is on topic.

[API][WIP/REL] Callouts+ - Additional LCPDFR API Callouts
This issue has already been addressed for the next release. I will get round to finishing it off and finalising bug fixes as soon as I can however I have just started back at university so the time I can spend on the plugin is reduced. The plugin won't get me a degree at the end so naturally it takes less priority.

Enforcer: Police Crime Action - Police Simulator
Correct it was. But the 4 guys who made it are also experienced in visual effects having worked in the industry so that helps. And yes I agree with you about the trailer. Hence why I said I would keep my eye on it's launch. I'm neither excited nor against its release.

Enforcer: Police Crime Action - Police Simulator
I have to say the "about this game" section is interesting: Not too sure if I like the idea of stress management in a game. But maybe they will do it well, who knows. In terms of the graphics, yes they could be a lot better. 4 guys managed to make "The Forest" and that is a beautiful game which I love very much. I'll be keeping my eye on this game's launch.
