  1. Don't mention it. It's nice to know there are other people out there who actually know something about raising dogs
  2. I wonder though, if these officers had carried a taser, would it really have stopped a charging pitbull? I have to agree with Nicolai. Carrying a firearm is a necessary evil these days for police officers. There are just too many situations where a firearm could save lives. And as far as the debate about pitbulls goes, I agree with Slimory. The owner makes the dog and these dogs shouldn't be discriminated based on what they were taught to do.

  10. Well, I shot the G19 today. It seems the G17's have already been replaced with the G19's over here. It's a really light pistol and I got a really nice group with it as well. Also saw the FN GP Browning and the S&W MP9 (the new service pistol) being shot. The instructor preferred the speed of the G19 as well seeing it has a trigger safety while the GP has an old safety switch.
  11. Yesterday while watching tv, I stumbled upon the show "Border invasion USA" on Discovery Channel. It follows the Maricopa county sheriff's office, SWAT, Border patrol and Arizona's human smuggling division. It really was a nice show and was wondering if anyone else watches it? Youtube doesn't seem to have any footage of it so the show might not be that known to the public, at least out here in Europe. http://www.yourdiscovery.com/nl/web/border-invasion-usa/ Other real police shows that might be less known are more than welcome of course
  12. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=GTA+IV+biff+snowplow It's still a WIP so you won't be able to download it just yet. Please try to search a bit harder yourself next time before asking for help. I only searched for about 5 seconds and already found the answer so you should be able to do so as well. Regards
  13. Going to the range on monday with the narcotics division to shoot the G17 and the FN GP Browning. I've already got to hold them and in my opinion, the Glock just feels lighter and more agile. Don't know if it's that much different from the G19. Would love to shoot an M9 as well though but for me it's Glock all the way.
  14. I tend to play as realistic as possible. This means I make up scenarios as well, most of the time by using SNT. I do vehicle patrol as well as foot patrol. You'd be surprized what you come across with if you patrol on foot, for example in the subway. My daytime patrols, with the occasional coffee break, are usually in Algonquin while my night patrols are in the Broker and Bohan area. All of my vehicles are ELS, except police.wtd. This greatly reduces the crashes for me. Like in real life, I only respond code 3 when necessary and when I do so, I follow real code 3 response guidelines like slowing down at red lights and only overtaking on the left. It all depends on my mood, really. -Traffic: catch speeders, traffic stops, speed traps with dashcam, highway patrol with state strooper, direct traffic using SNT,... -NOOSE: force shootout calls, gang related violence,... -Narcotics squad: force drug deals, arrest junkies, drug related traffic stops,... -Vice: hookers, pimps,... -FBI/US marshall: make up scenarios to arrest wanted felons, gather intelligence,... -Gruppe sechs: money transfers (with SNT), Airport patrol,... -Other: prisoner transfers, VIP escort,... (also with SNT) I also enjoy playing as a firefighter or a paramedic now and then. Again, SNT is a very handy tool here to create fires and accident scenes. Mods/tools I use: ELS vehicles, area livery mod, police computer system (), some modded weapons, Indicator mod, Realistic driving and flying, SNT, ENB,...

  18. Be as it may, Joseph Kony has been known to recruit children to commit horrible crimes for a long time. It's strange that people are currently spamming the internet with this crap while he has been doing as he pleases for years and the main stream media didn't pay much attention to it then.
  19. Nice job Molten Looking forward to seeing your main project.
  20. As always, thanks for your professional opinion Bailey
  21. Thanks again for wanting to share your experiences. It is trully inspiring. For you to deal with such an experience yourself completely on your own would have been near impossible, I think. I'm sure your colleagues were of great help as well, next to the crisis team. And like you said, teaching that experience to other officers, is of great value. Also, 22 years is still pretty young so for you to have already experienced such a thing can only be positive for your later career. It shows that it doesn't matter if you're a newbie LEO or a veteran on the street. Thank you for sharing that link, I am always in for acquiring more knowledge about real experiences on the field.
  22. I'm reading some interesting thoughts and experiences here. I'm 21 and like Unr3eal said, not everyone on this forum is willing or able to debate about such things. During my first week with the federal police, I've already experienced moments where I asked myself "Is this really what I would want to do for the rest of my life?". Last week for example, during my internship, a detective accompanied me to the forensic lab and I got a full tour. I saw body parts and heard some harsh stories, got to know the hard parts of life. For example, she talked about arriving at a crime scene were a man shot himself to the head in his bed. However, upon lifting the bed sheets, she discovered his 3 daughters lying next to him, also shot to the head. Those are things you have to be able to deal with when choosing a law enforcement career. You can't just walk away from situations like that. Even my supervisor already lost 3 partners during his career. Personally, after being confronted with real experiences, I am still as motivated as I was in high school. Like Bailey said, doing ride-alongs or interships are the best way of making sure you are up for it. There are a lot of people who think they are but not everyone really is. @Bailey: thanks for sharing that story btw. It's harsh experiences like yours that really show the mental capacity you need in order to be able to deal with police work. That's something I see as well with many applicants. They are in perfect physical shape but lack the mental shape however to be able to deal with very stressfull situations. My experiences are nothing compared to yours of course but they did confront me with the reality of what police work is really like. Your case clearly shows that you do not only need the mental capacity of being able to kill a human being when absolutely needed, but the mental capacity of coping with your actions later on as well. I'm sure though the stress team or a psychiater did a good job in helping you with that process. Know that I have the greatest respect for people like you who fight the war on the street every day
  23. @cp702: Ah, I thought they did. Well, after consulting Wikipedia: "Along with Somalia, the United States is one of only two countries in the world which have not ratified the Convention. President Obama has described the failure to ratify the Convention as 'embarrassing' and had promised to review this." Thanks for that, didn't know that. It explains why the US is indeed allowed to follow their own legislation. Maybe a lot of the UN child rights are provided in US legislation as well so there is no need for it to be ratified? I am no expert in US legislation though. @Unr3al: couldn't agree more. Just like in the US, we also have the problem of overcrowded prisons. However, in Belgium this means that sentences below 3 years aren't even executed. Most of the time, these men remain free, pay a large fine or must wear an ankle monitor during house arrest. This is very frustrating for our officers, seeing most of their arrests won't even lead to a proper conviction and small criminals are back on the street in no time.
