Hello everyone,
I hope you're having a fantastic springtime and looking forward to the summer!
It's been a long time since we've posted a website roundup update, but there's a few changes we're really excited to let you know about. Some of these changes you may have already seen, some will definitely be new.
File Tagging System Rollout
We've started Phase 1 of our file tagging system rollout. This update went live today and additionally we've spent some time tagging the first few pages of Vehicle Models to introduce you to it.
A look at some files with new tags, different tag types are distinctively coloured.
One of the reasons we have not used the built-in tagging system that comes with the software we are using is because it lacks a lot of features a community our size needs. The new home-grown solution combines the tagging solution that comes with our software natively, but extends it with many features:
The ability for our moderation staff to manage tags Tag "categories" with distinctive features, for example; Vehicle Brands, Vehicle Year, System Tags Ability for us to easily see tag use Ability for members to easily navigate tags Ability for authors to find the tags they want to apply easily, and with tag categories, ensure they're picking the correct tags. System and gated tags. For example, the tags fivem and lml will be automatically applied to files and cannot be applied manually. Certain tags can also be gated as author-only, or site-staff only for future expansion. We have started the system today with some vehicle-specific tags (Vehicle Brand, Vehicle Year and Vehicle Country). More tags and tag categories will come as we move into the other phases of this new tagging system.
If you've got any feedback on what tags and tag categories we could further add, feel free to leave feedback on this post.
Here's a small list of what we're working on for future updates:
Community and reputation based tagging (users can tag old files to help tag files which are never going to be updated) A new part of the site where you can see all tags on a certain page, and sort by their uses. Automatic tagging based on image analysis and OCR. A page where anyone can recommend tags (and perhaps tag categories) which can be voted on. Making it easier to tag files, by not allowing arbitary input into the tag box.
Using the new downloads tag page to find tags that have files you're interested in.
Authors, you can get started today tagging your files, just hit the 'Add Tag' button next to your file title.
Tagging is always optional, but helps users find your file in the sea of uploads.
thorium_9XtQr4UChBbmgLFCyZI0AGJu1.mp4
A short video showing how to tag files.
AI alt-text and Image Precheck
We now automatically generate an alt-text for all images uploaded. You can see these on image attachments on the forum, as well as file screenshots. These will help discovery both via LCPDFR.com site search (these tags are now inserted into our search index) and Google as well as aid to make the site a bit more accessible.
Along with this, images are now checked via our Image Precheck system for compliance with our Community Guidelines. Images which may not be in compliance with our Community Guidelines may be held for approval or rejected. We hope this keeps the community safer.
Speed & Performance
We fixed two major causes of latency for logged in users over the past few weeks. Both of these were caused by bad database queries.
We've shaved off around ~4s worst case of viewing the LCPDFR.com homepage, and around ~1.5s worst case of latency per file listing.
Thank you to the ULSS Discord Server for bringing this to my attention (specifically @SuperPyroManiac).
Other Fixes & Changes
Introduced WebAuthn 2FA support. While this is going to be used mostly internally for securing administrative accounts, this option is also available to all users. Show a warning when using colors in the website editor, reminding users of the different themes. LSPDFR Sync no longer shows deactivated members' characters. Fixed an issue with recording and displaying file checksums on the post-download page. Fixed file embeds from rendering an entire page on error. Fixed an issue IPS refuses to fix, correctly lazyloaded content between paginations. Added a game filter to user download special pages. Fixed an issue with file comments/reviews being removed from the search index. Guest views now correctly increment content view counts. ...And numerous other backend changes that would be too expansive to list.

r.y.a.n reacted to PNWParksFan in [REL] Coastal Callouts Discussion ThreadI am pleased to announce that Coastal Callouts will be released to the public by the end of 2019!
First of all, a huge thank you to @LeGeorgettier for creating this fantastic trailer. He has been working hard on the trailer concept since the early beta versions of the mod.
To answer some common questions about the upcoming release of the mod:
When will Coastal Callouts be released?
I am still finishing some final details before release, so a specific release date has not been announced. It will be released sometime in fall 2019.
Will Coastal Callouts cost money?
No. Members who have donated to the Parks Benefactor Program can get early beta access now, but the publicly released version will be free for everyone.
Can I make videos of Coastal Callouts?
Anybody will be welcome to make videos using Coastal Callouts once it’s released.
Does it work with FiveM?
Yes and no. During the beta, use with FiveM is not allowed. Most of the DLC content will be compatible with and optimized for FiveM when the mod is released to the public. Some DLC content is not supported by FiveM, and none of the scripts are written for FiveM.
Why has it taken so long to finish Coastal Callouts?
Because I have a life outside of modding, and because I kept thinking of more things I wanted to add to the mod and I have high standards for what I release.
What do I need to run the mod?
You need the PC version of GTA V, and a decent computer capable of running GTA on good settings with mods running. If you can run LSPDFR smoothly, you should be able to use Coastal Callouts. RagePluginHook and LSPDFR 0.4 are both required to be installed.
Is it easy to install?
One of the things I am still working on prior to release is a custom installer to facilitate the installation. This is a large and complex mod, so the manual installation requires many careful steps.
Will there be additional updates?
Yes! I will be working on new features and callouts in the future, including the addition of larger Coast Guard cutters.
CREDITS: Full credits will be included with the mod. I'd like to briefly thank a few people now: @SkylineGTRFreak, who made the Coastal DLC possible; @alexguirre, who gave me a lot of inspiration and much advice and shared code along the way; and the LSPDFR and RPH developer teams for providing the underlying structure for these mods. The full credits file is about 150 lines long - this has been a team effort, and I truly appreciate everyone who has helped make this project a reality.

r.y.a.n got a reaction from DevildrummerX in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?Never said it should be used as an incentive. I don't see how community voting would change the narrative of that category. As it stands now, making a mod essential so that other mods depend on is already an incentive.
If the community sees a certain mod as essential then why shouldn't it be given a spot in that category? You aren't giving it the title of essential because the mods author did a great job and has X number of downloads, your giving it that title because the LSPDFR community sees it as essential.
With your current definition really on 3 of those mods should be there.

r.y.a.n reacted to Reddington in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?LSPDFR .4 is far from trash. 0.3 arguably relied heavily on modders to come in and add more features, but 0.4 has added some of those to the mod. 0.4 has a lot of improvements and features that no other mod has added.
Yeah, no, that's not happening. How would that be easier, exactly? What's easier is having all these mods in ONE PLACE instead of people making their own sites and acting like this is such a terrible place. LSPDFR's community does have its issues, but all websites will have them. If these people are gonna make their own site, at least have your mods uploaded to both places. There are probably modding sites out there that have an amazing, must have mod but no one will ever know because they chose to have a personal site that only three people know of.
By the way, saying someone's work is trash, then saying "I mean no disrespect" is still disrespectful. There are various other ways you could've worded this post to get your opinion across, and you chose the worst way. LC/LSPDFR didn't have to be made, yet they were for our entertainment, try showing gratitude to the mod that you probably play every single day or at least regularly.

r.y.a.n reacted to Officer 81 in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?@Sam I totally agree with you, but then, how can you even agree with the existence of this "essential" section. It is some sort of reward, a "proof of trust", from my point of view.
Still from my point of view, it appears unfair that some people are designated as "essential" members of the community and are put under a spotlight for that, while others, who are as talented if not even more, aren't. It can easily be frustrating for people like Bejoljo. I would be frustrated.
Again, I totally agree with you. This fact just seems contradictory to me. Every mods should be treated as equal, and none should be put under a spotlight while others are left under the shadow.
Edit : I totally agree with what @rmckinstry said !

r.y.a.n got a reaction from Officer 81 in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed? How are "essential mods" decided. Don't get me wrong something like Cop Holster is a great addition to your game but its hard to argue that it's more essential than STP or UB.
Just an idea but maybe the essential mod selection can be voted on by the community every few months.

r.y.a.n got a reaction from Kalleboston in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?I don't know if this is a "hot take" or not but this is the problem with this mega mod culture. First, let me say this: I appreciate his work and I wish him the best. I also hope for his return as his plugins help improve LSPDFR.
With this being said, it seems like the trend nowadays of this community is reliance on mega mods and mega mod developers. When it works mega mods are ideal especially if most are developed by the same developer. You don't have to worry about the mods being incompatible and usually these mods come with important and significant updates semi-regularly . The problem is when something goes "wrong" (developer loses interest, gets burned out, personal life needs more attention, etc.).
These mods then stop being developed and what is left is a community that is in great need of another developers mod to fill in the hole that has been created. However, it is usually the case where it takes a long time for this to happen. I mean if you are a new developer why would you try to create a plugin that directly competes with these mega mods that are almost essential to a modded LSPDFR. You run the almost certain risk of being overshadowed. So what happens instead is alot of small niche mods are created and we have to wait for someone to fill the void (which tends to start the cycle again).
Now you really can't fix this as its not so much a "problem" as it is a mentality and culture but it is something you should at least think about. For now my rant (if you can even call it one) is over. Just food for thought.

r.y.a.n reacted to PNWParksFan in [REL] Coastal Callouts Discussion ThreadHey everyone! Thanks for your patience! I know everyone is eager to try Coastal Callouts and for it to be released. And I know some people have even voiced skepticism that it would ever be released. I can't commit to specific dates, but rest assured that Coastal Callouts will be released to the public, free of charge, for anyone to download, play, make videos with, and enjoy, in 2019.
As for an update on what needs to happen before release, the main thing I am working on right now is the custom installer. Now I understand some of you would prefer to just have it now and install it manually, but my mod my choice. The installation process is complex, even for people who've installed other mods before. I'd rather spend my time developing a good installer now, rather than spend much more time supporting everyone who can't figure out the manual install later. I will also be making a few tweaks after LSPDFR 0.4.2 is released to make use of some new additions to the LSPDFR API which will enhance Coastal Callouts. The DLC and callouts themselves are mostly ready, it's just a matter of wrapping up the little details.
I am also making some minor updates to my other mods, including Better EMS and Police Tape, for compatibility with Coastal Callouts. I am planning to release those updates at the same time as or shortly before Coastal Callouts, so everything will work smoothly together.
Thank you to everyone who has shown their interest in this mod through the course of its development! I excited for everyone to be able to experience this mod soon. and hope it will be worth the wait.

r.y.a.n reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4.2 - Coming Soon!Hot off the release of LSPDFR 0.4 a couple of months ago, we're upping the ante with another update which brings not only sweeping improvements to the LSPDFR 0.4 API, but also some unique features which have long been requested.
Originally, the plan was merely to release 0.4.2 as a quick follow-up to 0.4 and 0.4.1 - just simple fixes and changes, plus the API improvements to help developers make the most of 0.4. Necessary changes, but not really cool enough, right? So, with that in mind we took a little time to dig back into the archives of LSPDFR and revisit some of our old concepts and ideas. Now, while some of these are actually in the mod - they're most likely either tucked away as 'easter eggs' or just disabled because they weren't quite right.
If you're a connoisseur of traffic stops, for example, you might've noticed that occasionally the unexpected and oh so demoralizing experience of pulling over a federal agent hits you right in the feels as they arrogantly flash their shiny badge, tell you where to stick your comparatively less shiny badge, and drive off. (If you haven't seen this before, here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNOxZR2ak0M)
Originally the plan was to add this as a feature for players to use, but it just didn't quite fit in with 0.3, and we had some trouble with the animation not being quite as fluid as we'd like. That was then, though, and given that you now play as your own character both on and off duty, we thought it'd be a bit of a must-have now, so we've tidied it up and are introducing it as a player action in 0.4.2.
With one quick glance at the shimmering shield, her problems are suddenly your problems. (Note, a custom badge model is shown instead of the default FIB one - you will be able to define custom models to use on a per-agency basis)
Now, not only does this look exceedingly awesome, but it serves a practical purpose too. Available both on and off-duty, showing your badge will clear any wanted level and may also instill the fear of the law in nearby citizens, potentially de-escalating the otherwise unavoidable confrontations that flare when you walk around Mirror Park without the latest iFruit phone, for example!
Of course, that's not all. Continuing with the idea of adding things that are just generally cool, we know that people have wanted a ballistic shield feature in LSPDFR for quite some time. Sure, you can spawn one with a trainer or download another mod, but it's just not quite the same is it?
We thought it'd be particularly sweet to have it at your fingertips instead, fully integrated with LSPDFR, ready to kick some butt.
As if being Frank Tenpenny isn't cool enough...
Our ballistic shield, accessed from the Interaction Menu, uses our new animation system in 0.4.2 which we think looks absolutely gorgeous. There's also the freedom to switch between Stealth and Action mode which will vary your pose accordingly, compatibility with most weapons and the potential for future AI support.
Oh yeah, did we mention you can actually arrest people at gunpoint while holding a freaking shield?!
Keep your eyes open for LSPDFR 0.4.2, coming soon.

Notice the two lines I have highlighted. I saw why LSPDFR Crashed, which was due to a vehicle error, and then I noticed right before the crash, which vehicle the plugin tried to load, which led me to the assumption that Police1 was the issue.

r.y.a.n reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4 - Activity Feed & Companion AppJust a week ago, we released LSPDFR 0.4. Since then, there's been at any given time an average of 620 people playing LSPDFR, peaking at just over 1,200 earlier today. We think these are pretty incredible numbers for a game mod, and we've really enjoyed watching as people get to grips with 0.4 and all of the new possibilities it offers.
With that being said, we've been monitoring the support forums and have recognized that there are, of course, a couple of issues with 0.4. We're working to get as many of these sorted as we can and hope to release a small patch to address the most important ones shortly.
Today, though, we're introducing two new features as part of LSPDFR Sync - the Activity Feed and the Companion App.
Activity Feed
The Activity Feed, in a bit of a throwback to the days of LCPDFR's Crime Statistics, is a live activity wall of everything that's going on in LSPDFR 0.4. You can track what your fellow officers are up to with live updates on callouts, traffic stops, arrests, etc. Plus, we've integrated it with the website so everything is linked together nicely as far as Characters and forum accounts go.
https://www.lcpdfr.com/lspdfr/04/activity/
Companion App
The Companion App is something a little different that we're working on. Open it up while in-game and you'll see an overview of your current session with your Character's location marked on a Google Maps style rendition of San Andreas. As well as some basic info about your Character, we've added a couple of actions that can be performed from the app such as calling backup and going on and off duty.
https://www.lcpdfr.com/lspdfrsync/companion/
It's early days, but we definitely have some cool plans going forward for the Companion App.

r.y.a.n reacted to PNWParksFan in [REL] Coastal Callouts Discussion ThreadThanks for the encouragement 🙂
I need to look more into the agencies framework that LSPDFR 0.4 provides to see how Coastal Callouts might integrate into that in the future. In terms of mod content though, it's designed to be very open-ended, so you could play as a variety of agencies and customize things to your liking. Coastal has its own customization XML files similar to the LSPDFR 0.4 agency/station customization files, which lets you customize in which areas what types of boats and helicopters will respond. Agencies that are all represented in some way or another include:
US Coast Guard Los Santos County Sheriff (I don't have anything set up separately for BCSO, but you could add customization for Blaine County if you wanted) Marine patrol boats Rescue helicopter Los Santos Port Police Los Santos Fire Department (fire boat, and fire rescue helicopter) Los Santos Lifeguards The installation process is one of the main things still holding up release. It's a very complicated mod to install, because of how much content it adds to the game in so many different types and locations of files. Right now it's all manual install, and a lot of beta testers have complained about the install process being tedious. Most people get something wrong on the first try. So I am building a custom installer that will install everything. It will not require OpenIV to install. I will include manual installation instructions for those who prefer it, but would strongly recommend doing the automatic install for most people.
The mod will include the full Coastal Callouts DLC with over 20 different vehicles including boats, planes, helicopters; several custom peds; a multitude of map and ambient scenario edits; custom props; and more. I will probably provide a "basic" install option with only the required custom props and without any vehicles/peds/map edits for people who might not want all the DLC content.

r.y.a.n reacted to PNWParksFan in LSPDFR 0.4 API UpdateRegarding the Newtonsoft dependency, quite a number of mods use other versions of it, and some common FiveM mods conflict if a different version of Newtonsoft is in the root GTA V folder too. I think this is a good one to bundle with ILMerge, for both LSPDFR itself and any plugin creators using it too. I'm personally planning to not use it out of the root folder anymore going forward, having seen a number of conflicts with this particular dependency. With boats, I understand it's not a core/deliberate feature of LSPDFR, but it did work just fine in LSPDFR 0.3.1 without any workarounds, but I know a lot has changed with pullover logic since then. (Congrats btw, cars pull over to the curb much better now, I was impressed with that.) What objections would you have to allowing it on any boat though? I can't envision any situations where it would cause a problem - as long as you can't blip unoccupied vehicles, it shouldn't be a problem with e.g. boats on trailers in traffic or anything like that. I suppose an allow pullover entity override would be useful though... maybe someone someday will think up some scenario where they want to pull over a taxiing plane or something, who knows. Having a function to call whenever you want to attract ambient patrol units to respond to an area would be nice, especially if you could specify Code 2 or Code 3, and if it returned the Vehicle instance. I could imagine people using that for stuff ranging from traffic stop backups to road blocks to callout responses. For Hospitals and Fire stations: I can think of several mods, both my own and others, which use this data already. For EMS-related mods (Better EMS and Agency Callouts come to mind), ambulances deliver patients they've picked up to the hospital. Better EMS also spawns the responding vehicles at the Fire Station and/or Hospital. There could also be callout scenarios like e.g. drive an officer with a gunshot wound to the nearest hospital, etc. So being able to customize and then get the position (with that position being a spot a vehicle could spawn/park) would be nice.
Thanks for being receptive to ideas about the upcoming API update!

About a year ago, we announced the development of LSPDFR 0.4. We said it was big, and we said it was different, but I honestly don't think any of us quite imagined just how big and different it would turn out to be, nor how much of a challenge it would be to take the concepts and ideas that we had and turn them into reality.
Still, here we are. Thousands of changes later, we're here. Everyone on the team is delighted to announce the first public release of LSPDFR 0.4, available now.
LSPDFR 0.4 brings sweeping changes which have been implemented over a number of years, so much so that we're not able to provide full release notes. Instead, we've put together a number of resources, new to LSPDFR 0.4, including a 'wiki' and a collection of more in-depth guides.
Note as well that because of this - the sheer number of things that have changed - there will be issues. We've put over two months into testing 0.4, and we've made hundreds of fixes in this time. Still, there's undoubtedly going to be things that we've missed, or things that simply can't be tested in a controlled environment. This is a big release, and we wanted to do right by all of you by getting it out as soon as we can.
With that being said, I'll shut up now and let the mod speak for itself.
LSPDFR 0.4 Page: https://www.lcpdfr.com/lspdfr
LSPDFR 0.4 Wiki: https://www.lcpdfr.com/wiki/lspdfr/04
Note that we strongly recommend installing LSPDFR 0.4 for the first time on a clean copy of Grand Theft Auto V with no other mods or plugins.
