  1. LAPD keep vehicles for 10+ years. That's why. They still have a 1998 CVPI in service, a 20-year-old car. Source: http://www.latimes.com/la-me-southern-california-storm-live-flooding-mud-traps-lapd-cruiser-in-la-1515513806-htmlstory.html By this point, maybe it's only used as a spare unit, but still. 20 years is incredibly old for a police cruiser. Up until about 2014, they still had 1997 Vic's (old body style) responding to calls and patrolling.
  2. Nobody ever leaves forever. I "permanently" left 2 times.

  5. I believe that the Red Dead Redemption from 2010 is a superior game to the Grand Theft Auto narrative, visually impressive (at the time), its artwork direction, and it's general premise was super rare. How many open world (GTA-style), third-person western video games are there other than the Red Dead series? None. It's an under utilized genre that hasn't even had its surface scratched. After reading previews today (R* had a gameplay session for the press behind closed doors), this game sounds meticulously crafted with attention to detail. Pedestrians will even live their own lives, they will not be pretending to sweep the floor in an infinite cycle like most games. I'm sure it will be a good game, and I'm sure you will enjoy it. When October comes, and if you play it and don't absolutely love it, I give you permission to virtually slap me.
  6. It is a black and white vehicle, and clearly has markings and a lightbar (as seen at 29 seconds).
  7. The era of Ford Police Sedans has come to a close... http://www.nwitimes.com/business/local/chicago-assembly-plant-to-stop-production-of-taurus-replace-with/article_23dff552-371e-5683-91ba-e4ba30bb0a2c.html R.I.P. Ford Taurus... And yeah, the Crown Vic definitely isn't coming back now (as a lot of people here think). All of Ford's cars are getting the axe in the U.S. except the Mustang. From here on out it's only going to be trucks, SUV's, and crossovers. Maybe someday they will have a new sedan, but as long as gas prices stay low, the masses are flocking to large vehicles.
  8. I've always liked Wake Me Up by Avicii. RIP.
  9. Please post in the website support forum if this issue persists.
  10. I'm just going to go and cry in my room right now.
  11. I'd have to agree. We don't live on here. None of us on the staff team are kids anymore. We have jobs, school, and other priorities. Everything gets handled in the end. That's all that matters.
  12. Please create only one topic. Your other topic has been removed.
  13. At this rate, it will probably take you guys 50,000 years. Oh, and 1070.
  14. 1. This is not a GTA IV Support Request. Topic moved. 2. The browser extensions/recommended software in the installer is not in any way harmful malware. 3. As you said, it's not forced. We have an installer without the ads if you so choose. If you want to support us, great. If not, please feel free to use the other installer. Threatening legal action is unnecessary. If you legitimately believe that there is a virus or any form of malware in the installer, and in the rare case that it actually is, the proper course of action will be taken by the management team. However, you will need to provide more detail on which program it is you encountered that was malicious in order for them to help you.
  15. I'm from CT, but I'm not an explorer. What's stations day?
  16. Can't help you much, but I swear I've seen car mods (both ELS and non-ELS) with steady burn lights for GTA V. It should be possible.
  17. I was mainly referring to HomerS who said, "Look I don't support the police or the government in this country. Both are riddled with corruption."
  18. I find it ironic that someone who's a member of a policing-focused site (even if it's just video game related) would be anti-police. That's all I have to say.
  19. GM owned the police market in the 1980's, similar to how Chyrsler/Dodge owned the police market in the 1970's. The Caprice was often considered the superior car to the LTD Crown Victoria and Dodge Diplomat at the time, due to better performance and handling. Although, if you take the more highly evolved 2011 Crown Victoria today and compare it to the 1980's Caprice, the three-decade newer CVPI would outperform the Caprice in most, if not all aspects. While the Crown Victoria used the same platform from 1979 to 2011, you have to consider the wide array of upgrades it received that the Caprice never stayed around long enough to receive itself (being discontinued in 1996). Such as rack and pinion steering, drive by wire, ABS, single overhead cam technology, traction control, side air bags, etc. The Diplomat was discontinued in 1989, they were decent cars but had a lot of body and suspension issues (they were uni-body, which was considered odd for a police car at the time. Both the Caprice and LTD Crown Victoria were body-on-frame). And now you if compare the new Ford Taurus, Ford Explorer, or Dodge Charger, they out perform the CVPI in most aspects (handling, acceleration, crumple zones). Although, they do not compare to the CVPI in regards to reliability, longevity, repair time, and cost effectiveness. We wont see any cars like that again, since most newer vehicles have a lot of technology packed into them, some of which is federally mandated. For 2018, I believe rear-backup cameras are required for all new vehicles sold in the United States. Pretty soon automatic collision avoidance will be mandated in all new cars sold in the United States. All of this stuff is nice, but when it breaks it's very expensive for the owner to replace. Such is the evolution of automobile technology. So basically, in the 1980's, the Caprice was the right car at the right time. Whichever car excels in the most categories, is the car that will be dominant in the market. For present-day policing, that vehicle is currently the Ford Explorer.
  20. Let's stop asking "when" on every page please. It's spammy. Future posts asking "when" will be removed as they do not contribute to the topic.
  21. Cyan can clarify this further, but I think we did (or still do) utilize Google Adsense, so it's a third party displaying the advertisements. In the past, there have been complaints about some of the ads being questionable in content from other members on this site, and I'm fairly certain in every situation we've had those ads removed.

  23. Except, it's not durable. Simple things on them break, such as door handles not working (they're electronic). The gull wing doors also have a ton of issues. The suspension is not durable. It's not designed for severe duty police applications. It's designed for civilian-use luxurious smooth driving. The interior does not have easy-clean rubber floors, with fabric being used everywhere (bad idea for drunk prisoners). The frame is not reinforced. The control arms, bushings, and wheel bearings are also not police-spec. This is not a police packaged vehicle. Tesla's are incredibly unreliable vehicles with tons of build quality issues, minus their powertrain (or rather, lack thereof). Anything Tesla will do the Big 3 can do 10x better, 100x faster. Also, the police market is not ready yet for an electric vehicle. The amount of energy police equipment draws will make the battery range very difficult to work with. Until batteries get better, and cheaper, this is a pipe dream.
