  1. I'm assuming this is a request for GTA V. Topic moved to Grand Theft Auto V/Development Support & Requests/Suggestions & Requests.
  2. Thursday was a sad day for RWD, V8 sedan enthusiasts. The last Chevrolet Caprice PPV and Chevrolet SS were produced. As tradition holds, and as we did for the Ford Crown Victoria, I figured I'd honor its discontinuation with a topic. I'm surprised no one has made one already. The Dodge Charger is now the only brand new, V8, RWD American Sedan you can buy at a dealership. http://www.autoblog.com/2017/05/25/chevrolet-ss-production-officially-ends-in-australia/
  3. The main reason, in my opinion, is for fleet downtime. If there's a major recall for a single model of vehicle, your whole fleet will be in the garage. If you maintain a diverse fleet with at least two different brands and/or models, you can still have some on the road while the others are in the shop for the recall. Although, this isn't really a common reason since up until about 4 years ago, most departments in my area had fleets with 100% Crown Victoria's and nothing else. But that's also because the cars were relatively unchanged for 20 years and a major recall for them would be rare. The second reason is for specialized purposes. Some larger vehicles may be needed for supervisors or special operations if they need to carry more gear.
  4. What's causing all of these GTA modding sites to shut down? Especially the ones that have been around for 10+ years.
  5. Yeah, I'm sure a few hiccups have to be worked out. However, some of it is probably an illusion. It will take some time to adjust.
  6. I tried to get Gold on most, but it can be too difficult for some and I'll just settle for a Bronze or Silver.
  7. It means his PM is disabled. Some members will do this if they don't want to receive any messages. Never mind, Lundy is right.
  8. Strange. @Lundy may know more about this. It wouldn't make much sense to change the light colors on older vehicles that are closer to retirement.

  10. I really like the choice we currently have in America. And while I realize this may not last forever, automakers really do cater to consumer's individual tastes. Want to drive an electric Tesla? You can. Want to drive a 707 HP Dodge Challenger with a turbocharged 6.2 Liter V8? You can. Want to drive a hybrid Prius? You can. The day anything is forced down our throats or banned, I think that may leave a sour taste in a lot of our mouths. Maybe you could call me a Libertarian, but I highly believe in individual choice, free markets, and minimum regulation. What I see going on with India, where they're talking about banning all gas and diesel vehicles by 2030, just doesn't seem very democratic. Daily drivers will naturally go green over time, I don't think it has to be forced like India or Germany are doing. It's very artificial, and impacts more jobs and businesses when you force it short term, rather than a more natural long term transition.
  11. Electric vehicles make up about 1% of yearly auto sales. In 5 years, they may make up about 10%, and that's being optimistic. As of now, a $100,000 Tesla with the best available battery can go about 300 miles on a single charge, and recharge in about 2-3 hours. Until we have more charging infrastructure, and reduce the charge time to about 10 minutes instead of several hours, I think our internal combustion engine vehicles have a clear advantage. Right now, they're really hard to beat. We have three cylinder and four cylinder engines putting our 250-300 Horsepower, which is simply amazing. And they're able to go about 500 miles on a tank of gas. I think that as long as these engines keep improving in efficiency and power, other emerging technologies will find it hard to compete. I'm not sure how true this is, but I read that by 2025-2030, the air coming out of the exhaust on a new gas vehicle will be cleaner than the air that it took in. So by driving it, you'd technically be cleaning the air. And then it could become a clear target for Republicans and Big Oil to discourage or even "ban" electric vehicles.
  12. I think that eventually, it may prove difficult finding a gas station to refuel a gas or diesel vehicle (unless gas stations retrofit mostly to electrical charging stations, and keep maybe 1 or 2 gas pumps for the rare customer). But who knows how far off that may be.
  13. I highly doubt they're going to bust into people's homes and take away their Plymouth Cuda's and Model T's. They're not daily drivers, so their impact is minimum. Maybe in Europe, but definitely not in the U.S.
  14. Big Oil is the backbone of the Republican Party. I believe that's where most of their funding comes from. No worries from me, I love V8 engines and gas guzzling vehicles.
  15. Figured I'd bump this , I didn't see the newest replies to this. In regards to electric cars in fleet use within 10 years, I'm not so sure. Especially with a Republican led government now, I notice that green car incentives and tax breaks are being taken away. They were set to expire anyway, but now they're deliberately being attacked.
  16. @TheSandwichStealer: I actually like the 2015+ Dodge Chargers. When I'm making good money, I'd like to get the Scat Pack with the 392 HEMI, particularly in plum crazy purple.
  17. @Hastings You can get a decent one with 95,000 miles for about $6400. http://www.iascars.com/2011-Ford-CrownVictoria/Used-Car/WBridgewater-MA/7314249/Details.aspx And assuming you go through it maintenance wise, change all the fluids, and make sure it's up to snuff - you can probably drive it for another 200,000 miles before you encounter anything major. It's a low compression, cast iron V8 engine. What does that mean? It can last significantly longer than any other modern engine that's high compression and uses aluminum blocks (which is basically every new engine) -- with routine maintenance. My neighbor runs a livery service with his Lincoln Town Cars (same car, difference badge) and he has 600,000 original miles on one of his cars. The only thing he's ever had to replace was the alternator, spark plugs, and engine oil. These cars are basically F-150's with a trunk, they're mechanically identical to the 1996-2009 trucks equipped with the 2v 4.6, and are mechanically identical to the 1997-2014 Ford E-Series van with the 2v 4.6.
  18. I like the Taurus much better, I wish it was used more. The Explorers are just... too soccer-mom-like for me.
  19. Yeah, it still had to meet modern safety standards, and was heavily revamped in 2003. Either way, almost most all pickup trucks and full sized SUV's are still body on frame, and for a reason. They wouldn't be allowed if body on frame wasn't safe. @Hastings It has rack and pinion steering, which was added in 2003. The CVPI (not the civilian model) handles as well as any modern Toyota Camry, if not better, due to its firm suspension. I've owned a Crown Vic, and now I own a 2011 Buick Lacrosse. And I can tell you the CV handled better. You'd just have to drive one and see for yourself. The grandpa Crown Victoria LX's on the other hand, handle like sofas on wheels. Cops routinely drive CVPI's at 120+ MPH without any problems whatsoever. Simply put, the car was outdated - but not incedibly outdated. It's still a good car, and still holds up to some modern cars. I've worked on lots of Crown Victoria's, and I've driven lots of different cars, so I'm just telling you my perspective.
  20. If the car is made out of sand, maybe. The Crown Victoria is an extremely safe car, other than the exploding fuel tanks (which was a rare issue and was fixed after 2003). I believe it received mostly 5 star crash ratings. It's still up there in safety even with some of today's cars. What you're referring to was more common with the 1940s-1960's body on frame vehicles. They had no crumple zones and were about as safe as driving in a tin can.
  21. The crazy thing is you can take the frame off of a 1979 Crown Victoria and put it on a 2011 Crown Victoria with very few adjustments. Most of the body panels from a 1992 will fit on a 2011. The car was ancient, and by 2011, the only things modern on the car were the steering wheel, the gauge cluster, the recessed window switches, and the headrests. But that's also why we love it.
  22. Buddy, I'm sure they're not intentionally trying to be rude. But, about every 6 months one of these topics pops up on this site. We all see it, and we're like "Oh god, not another one of these". We all love Crown Victoria's here (well, at least most of us), in fact we're probably one of the largest fan bases next to Crownvic.net (some of us are even members on there), but we're just telling the truth. The truth is harsh, and it isn't always what we want to hear. The sarcasm from some people could have been toned down a bit, even myself for that matter, and I apologize. Nothing is impossible, after all, Dodge is still pushing out Chargers with 707 HP 6.1 Liter V8 engines. But, what we're trying to say is, it's highly unlikely. You're more than welcome here, and we don't want anyone to feel unwelcome.
  23. Lol. Sorry, but this is never going to happen. They may bring the name back, but it will be uni-body, FWD or AWD, and powered by either a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder turbocharged engine. Not the car we're all familiar with. I'd expect pigs to fly before Ford ever brings the old Crown Victoria back. The sedan segment has been suffering in the first place, large SUV's and crossovers are killing sedans. Even the Ford Taurus is on the edge of being discontinued. I don't mean to crush your dreams, but I highly doubt they'd ever bring it back other than the nameplate itself. I also highly doubt they'd listen to an online petition.
