new pc?
uhh what GTX 780Ti is obsolete? Naaaah... That thing is still a massive powerhouse! Not to mention, VRAM won't play a huge part in your performance unless you plan on playing games in 4K. Buy the GTX 970, it's cheaper and will afford you (roughly) the same performance as a GTX 780ti. But know that the GTX 780ti is hardly "obsolete". On that note, I'd go for the i5-4690K as well. You don't need an i7 for playing games.

"Well, I am VERY Catholic, so this sort of thing is okay." "Well, I am VERY Muslim, so the attacks on Charlie Hebdo are okay." "Well, I am VERY Jewish, so blowing up Palestine is okay." Using religion to justify wrong acts is as barbaric as it gets, if this is your way of thought please escort yourself back to 1400AD. Cut religion out of it, look at this as a matter or right and wrong people. Attempting to systematically delouse thoughts from a person's mind is pushing the dystopian line. Are we going to be speaking Nadsat next? (you have my respect if you get that reference)

POLICE EXAM
DisharmoniousUnmutual replied to NYPDDetectiveODonnell's topic in General & Miscellaneous DiscussionI know it's hard, but you have to come to grips that you most likely won't be getting a job in law enforcement. If I were you, I'd start looking for work elsewhere. As someone who's getting into LE as a career should know, law is law. Rules are rules. Sucks, but that's the way life goes.

I'd expect pre-orders to go live sometime soon, the store page has finally been updated.

POLICE EXAM
DisharmoniousUnmutual replied to NYPDDetectiveODonnell's topic in General & Miscellaneous DiscussionI suggest you try private security or the military. Don't think LE will open many doors for you. Not to mention, you'll have to learn all the laws of a new nation and they will still perform a background check.

Help with Steam
You disabled UAC and you're still getting UAC prompts? Weird, I didn't think that was possible.

Fighting Terrorism
For the record, you have suggested acts of genocide. For your first point, communist nations have no established religion. Marx stated that religion was the enemy of all man kind, hence his goals for uprooting religion from society in the communist manifesto. Secondly, your suggestions aren't feasible or measurable in any way. What if religion disappeared from the world right now? Well, I don't know, what would happen? Is everyone's mind going to be whipped where they instantly forget everything? Regardless, attempting to create a non-diverse, integrated group is a horrible idea. "Let's start getting rid of customs and ways of life. Everyone should be like us!" Trying to uproot religion is pointless. You will never stop people from reading the Torah. You will never stop people from reading the Bible. You'll never be able to regulate religion, you'll never be able to stop people from believing in something. Even if you manage to remove all religion, there will still be those who ask questions that cannot be answered.

Fighting Terrorism
Okay, so you are suggesting that to combat terrorism we kill everyone who believes in religion? And yeah, while religion causes tons of problems, it's also one of the very few things that can bring people together. To suggest that we live in a world without religion is to suggest we live in a communist/fascist state. If we're going to look at things from a historical standpoint, without religion, concepts of philosophy would never have existed and there would never have been religion to question. The act of questioning religion has made massive strides in science and will continue to do so. Religion and the questioning of religion is the backbone of creative spirit. No thanks, I'm not a religious person, however I'd rather die a terrorist than live in a world like that.

Fighting Terrorism
A blender for all terrorists? Sounds great! Let's take a minute to define what a terrorist is. "a person who uses terrorism in the pursuit of political aims." And what terrorism is? "the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims." The fact of the matter is, there are a lot of people (even good guys) who fall under the blanket definition of "terrorists". Every one of these cases has to be handled on an individual level. The rebels in the Ukraine are considered terrorists in some eyes, but are they really? Are they the same breed of terrorist that we see today? No. They are people fighting for their nation and fighting imperialism/nationalism. Were the French-resistance terrorists? Yes. But without them, the Normandy invasion wouldn't have been possible. Some people would even argue that the NYPD's "We're going to stop doing our jobs" could be seen as terrorism. By threatening to remove law enforcement from a community, you are implying there will be violence and you are scaring the public into supporting you. Is that not terrorism? Fact of the matter is, there will always be terrorism. If not the Taliban, then the IRA, the neo-nazis, the Black Panthers, etc... Terror can't succeed unless you let it. Don't be scared by terror.

Al-Qaeda Plotting Major Attack On Britain
*slow clap* Nice job guys, I forgot that LCPDFR was also CNNFR. The amount of "speculation" here is incredible; the great american bullshit machine never stops churning out new stories! Personally, I am terrified at the thought of Al-Qaeda breaking down my door in the -40F weather to kill me. There's a great way to defend against them though! Turn your TV off (cut off the bloodflow to your living room) and attempt to see through media bias. "Well, the thought on everyone's mind is, COULD IT HAPPEN HERE." Gee, like England hasn't see its fair-share of terrorism. Remember The Troubles? Of course not. Hyde and Regent's Park? Much like now, no one gave a fuck about the bandsmen or the families, no time for mourning when the headline is as fresh as the blood making the story. Think about it this way, imagine you got a really nasty case of the flu and one of your friends came over. You wanted to sit down and talk with that friend. Said friend then sees the condition you're in and turns his back on you, screaming to everyone else in the house, "WHAT IF I GET SICK, WHAT IF YOU GET SICK, WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET SICK, HOW DID HE GET SICK, ARE YOU AT RISK FOR GETTING SICK?" Not very helpful is it? Three days later you're already on the fast track to recovery, you wake up to find that all your housemates have locked themselves in their rooms, fearful of "getting sick". Fear = $$$

im been big fan of lcpdfr and my name is rj dorsey
I recommend doing a bit of research as far as PC parts go. That way you can make an informed choice on what you're buying/what you need. When it comes to GPUs, I recommend a GTX 660ti, if you intend on just running GTA IV. Maybe even a GTX 760ti (or just 760).

Is this a good computer?
Not a problem, my dear sir. It simply means that when you get the computer, you should install Windows on the Solid State Drive (SSD). That way, you will experience much faster loading times overall.
-
Is this a good computer?
saw that you talked about a GTX 970, i definitely think you should get that with your i5 if you manage to get your OS on an SSD with the i5 + 970, you'll be set, killer PC

Wanting to Upgrade Graphics Card
with your current processor, i don't think that a change of graphics card would do that much for you at that point, you're better off getting a new PC i suggest you take some time to learn about PCs and their components, then build a cheap one yourself
-
Stable Graphic Mod
bingo. this guy hit the nail on the head in addition to your integrated graphics card, your processor is also quite weak all things considered. it's meant for mobile use, light-weight applications, the normal stuff you'd do on a laptop. not to mention, GTA IV is already a bit unstable, by throwing in newer, mobile hardware, on top of an ENB, you're asking for trouble
-
What ENB and what Fps with this build
this is a hard question to answer, mixing modern parts with GTA IV + ENBs is always questionable everything considered you ~should~ be alright. i'd expect you to get at least 30FPS on that build it would be interesting to see how players with 6-core processors handle GTA IV, seeing as the game is not built to take advantage of that many cores. those started to come out years after IV was released. not to mention GTA IV seems to be dodgy on AMD CPUs, at least, it is on my 945 3.0ghz

Christmas Money + Birthday Money = New PC :D
there's really no reason not to be shooting for the a GTX 970, they are around the same price, if not cheaper more power efficient, and more powerful
