  1. Sounds just like the United States. Hopefully something is both can overcome and move past. The way things are going here, doesn't look to be going away any time soon. Thanks for the insight! :D
  2. Excuse my ignorance. I'm not from Sweden so I'm like a child with this topic, but... How could your own nations flag be seen as offensive to your own nation? I just do not understand. A bird name maybe but your own flag? That seems disrespectful to me.
  3. [quote name="ineseri" post="315257" timestamp="they prohibit the Swedish flag because goddamn it could be racist! [/quote Wait.. what? O.o
  4. Thanks I didn't need to hire a maid to clean up that mess. At the end of the day, just change the damned name. It's not that big of a deal and nobody seem to have any issue with it. Just do it and be done with it Sweden, just do it.
  5. This is not true due to Political correctness or political correctitude[1] "We can't name this bird a certain name because it will offend this group of people".
  6. I agree, the only thing is that we can't just name birds anything. In this case, I don't really see this as a serious issue. Maybe this is something on Sweden's top priority list, definitely not for the US.
  7. You don't have to read the article to understand what's going on. Not really much to explain here, unless you're retarded. In that case, I'll go ahead and explain in great detail so that even an idiot can understand what the article is about. According to this article, bird watching is fairly popular is Sweden. It's always been seen as a very harmless and innocent activity for bird lovers, but this activity may be compromised. For centuries, Sweden gave names to birds that could potentially be offensive to certain groups. These bird names included gypsy bird, negro, Kaffer (A derogatory term used by White South Africans against Blacks), and Hottentot. More information on how these words are supposedly racist is in the article. Sweden plans on changing the names of several of these birds. What do you all think of this? Is this even worth being reported on? Is this a big deal? http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2015/02/24/out-of-fear-of-racism-sweden-changes-the-names-of-bird-species/
  8. The problem here is that people are misunderstanding what this policy actually means. It's not saying that officers are required to stand there and close their eyes, that's retarded. There are a million different scenarios that can occur from day to day policing, and this policy varies depending on the specific circumstances of that scenario. An officer stopping to think and the suspect complying to it isn't realistic. What this policy means is that officers should take the time to calm down. When in a pursuit or altercation of some sort, officers shouldn't just take immediate action. Officers should take a moment to think about what they're doing before they do it. Like I've already said, this doesn't mean that the officer is required to literally stand there and close his/her eyes; again, that's retarded. If I'm a police officer chasing a suspect, and the suspect is reaching into his pants, my first instinct is to pull my gun and prepare to shoot him. What this policy says is that officers shouldn't just act, they should think for a moment about alternatives to a scenario.
  9. LOL. First off, I'd like to respectfully state that your aunt sounds like a a very conservative woman. She sounds like she upholds traditional American morals, such as ironing your clothes. Though this has got to be last on the list of "Most important morals in America". Secondly, and more on the topic at hand, be who you want to be. It doesn't matter what ANYONE, says about you, be who you want to be. Doesn't matter if it's your mother, father, aunt, teacher, it doesn't matter. Be who you want to be. If you don't find it necessary to iron your clothes, then don't! I don't iron my clothes because I hang them in my closet. Plus I wear the same grey hoody every day regardless, lol. Try talking to your aunt and seriously expressing your thoughts. Tell her that you need to have a serious talk with her, and express how you feel. If she's open-minded, she'll listen and understand. Worst case scenario, just iron your damned clothes to shut her up. My mother used to always tell me to put a hat on when I went outside, even if it was 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I thought it was retarded, but did it just so she'd shut the hell up; though don't tell her you're doing it just to shut her up unless you want to get slapped. Third, getting a girlfriend. You've read my posts in the previous topic on getting a girlfriend, but to reiterate what I had already stated: Girls are a lot of work. Unless you find an Independent high school girl, they expect almost everything under the sun, at least here in the United States. From money, to gifts on every fucking holiday under the sun, to hanging out, or (depending on the girl) they just simply want you to bone them; they want everything. In my opinion wait until your senior year or after high school to find a girlfriend, if you're interested. If you plan on going to college, definitely look for a girl there. Nothing is more attractive than a hot girl trying to get an education.
  10. No one has responded in almost a year, my hill.
  11. Really? I thought this was only true for American schools.
  12. It's always an interesting conversation when I'm involved, lol. Or so I'm told...
  13. Don't need luck, I'd have the law on my side. :) I'm not the type of person to back down from a fight. If you try to act big with me, you can expect me to act big with you. My first decision isn't to be violent, it doesn't always need to be that way; But if you clearly aren't up to par for having a civilized conversation on the issue, I'm not going to hold back. Edit: And on top of that, if it's already to the point where I feel that my life is in DANGER, then there is no more talking. You've made yourself clear by escalating it up to that point.
  14. Fuck yes times 10. I'm not gonna sit there and have my neck sliced open just to follow some contradictory morals. If you are threatening my general safety, I'm gonna whoop your ass on the spot, man or woman. I don't care what anyone thinks of it, I'm not going to die just to not hit a woman.
  15. LONG LONG story dude. I was being sexually assaulted and it went sweet, and now we're planning on getting married. Long ass story.
  16. Out of curiosity, how often do you respond to calls, as a firefighter? Do they come in often or is t usually a quiet day at the station?
  17. Correct. Very interesting how some women want equality, but not absolute equality. If you come into my home you're getting shot, no questions asked. You shouldn't be in my home, the one place I feel safe. Some women even expect a guy to stand there and take a beating while she hammers away at his body, as if it's open season. Man or woman, you hit me you're gonna get put into some serious shit. I don't care, not gonna stand there and get helplessly beaten. I refuse to be the victim. Plus it wouldn't get to that point, I'd leave or call the cops beforehand. Yes, my lord.
  18. Not to go off topic but sometimes that sexual assault can be a good thing, as it was for me lol.
  19. As children, a lot of us wanted to be something cool, something unique, something fun, something exciting. We wanted to be an astronaut, a firefighter, a police officer, a secret agent, a super-spy, a cook. Not everything goes to plan, and some things end up being changed as we grow and mature. What did you want to be as a child? Now that you've matured, assuming you aren't still a child (LOL), what career path are you following? Feel free to post an (exceptionally sized) photo of your dream job as a child, and what you want to do now. You can also tell a little bit about yourself and why you wanted to choose the job, or something along those lines. You can use the spoiler function if the picture is large, though posting a picture is not required. I've always wanted to be a soldier, since I was a little kid sitting at home playing with my toys and watching TV. I first remember when I became interested in the military. I was playing with my toys, and I saw a United States Marine Corps commercial on TV, the one on my profile and the one I've posted in the spoiler below. Obviously I didn't quite understand much about becoming a soldier at such a young age, but I thought they looked so cool. As I got older I did more research into the USMC, and I recently made the decision to lock my career path into the USMC.
  20. I live in Baltimore.. 'nuff said.
  21. Yeah, I enjoy posting topics on social issues such as these :D. I post them on about 4 other forums as well. Interesting though as each forum has a different average opinion from the next. The one time I got into a physical altercation with a woman, I ended up losing my virginity lol. You don't always need to fight, try to peacefully resolve the situation. It may end better than originally thought.
