Now a GAME update .Well another update and another 3 months. Sick and tired of this. 4.2 cam out and it took weeks for all the plugin developers to catch up now this is gonna damage everything again and I notice everytime this happens we lose another great mod and the modder never gets around to updating it or has something else gong on and they dont have time. Im so done with this shit

I understand the frustration, but you need to remember that for the mass majority of GTA 5 players who know nothing about modding, these updates are Christmas.  Yeah Rockstar is collecting money left and right, but it's content, and that's what people want an endless supply of.

 

The updates really aren't a problem if you back up your game.  There's an option in RPH to do it, but I've always followed this method and it works flawlessly. 

 

 

Note: This is in the 0.3 section of LSPDFR, but it still works for 0.4.

I have a question - my game did not update thanks to another clever method that I thought of. HOWEVER, my GTA Launcher did update to the 173... whatever version.

 

I had some issues trying to run RPH after that... It simply would not run. Eventually, however, it did run after a restart.

 

Do you think I can safely play and run LSPDFR with this new launcher version? Or am I going to run into problems eventually?

I'm not entirely sure, because I don't know if the launcher is set to a specific version - I'd imagine it is.  If you manage to get your game to launch and have no issues, you should be fine.

It's funny -- these updates can be so disruptive. Unfortunately it's probably the way it has to be. I think there's a lot of people who ignore the backup and/or have issues with the fairly aggressive launcher.

Funny note; we actually saw the impact of the update on our analytics for LSPDFR Sync. You can see below when they started pushing the update out just past ~10am British Time.

I'm almost positive a company like Rockstar could make it so that everything didn't break, they just don't want to because they could care less about the modding community.  The day Rockstar sees the benefits of single player modding is the day hell freezes over.  To them, all modders are the same - bad, bad people.

my steam is offline so i  dont think my game updated because ragehook loads for me.

i did use the back up feature as well so i can still use it if my steam goes online hehe

It is not Rockstar who are in the bad but the jerks at Fake-Two. Rockstar is Just a game-maker and no matter what they create... they unfortunately need a publisher to get to the market. Having said that, Fake-Two simply holds R* by the balls. This is one of the reasons Mr. Benzies left the company and took "a publisher" to the court.

 

Then again, with an established title that GTA series is, I find it highly dubious that R* would even need any company to go and publish their games in the first place... People would still buy these...

When a new update comes out I learned ( the hard way) to backup everything before.  I also set up a firewall outbound rule, thanks to Albo's video that you can block the update and still play but you would have to play offline, which is what LSPDFR is, single player.  Just play with the old Rage, Scripthook and GTAV (which updates are blocked) until everyone gets their mods updated.  That way you can still play.  Like I said I learned the hard way.  There was a scripthook that had to be updated and it took a while.  I couldn't play.  I learned what to do for next time that happens.  After a couple months everyone should be updated and then you can update everything.  It's annoying though between the R* updates, then Rage may have to be updated and scripthook may have to be updated and then the mods.  When LSPDFR gets a new version the mods usually have to be updated.  It's a pain but there are ways around it.  I'm still playing right now.  I blocked GTAV updates with the firewall outbound rule and with Rage it says there is an update.  I click "continue without updating".  Outdated, don't ask for support?  Understood, click OK.  Good to go.  I really like the game.  GTAV graphics and so cool and to play a LEO side with these other mods is great.  But there are downsides to it like this. 

 

Reddington: I've never created a mod but have modded LSPDFR by downloading and installing the mods.  Is that considered modding?  Anyway what do you mean "these updates are Christmas".  Have to do with the Christmas folder?  I don't know what the Christmas folder does but if a mod says to put something in it, i do.    😀

So a lot play at 1-3am in the morning?  Wish I could do that but I have a day job and i need my sleep.  LOL

A decent portion of their players are American. (01:00 in London is 20:00 in New York, or 17:00 in Los Angeles.)
