Hi,

 

Any possibility we could have the option to disable the whole create a character and role play feature for 0.4 in future versions? Some of us use a lot of mods and whenever we use the reloadallplugins line to reload LSPDFR again, it takes much longer to load and seems to redraw all the textures (something to do with character maybe?) causing unnecessary stability and performance issues for power users.

Considering the character/RP aspect was pretty much the bread and butter of 0.4, I highly doubt it'll have the option to be disabled.  I don't recommend using reloadallplugins, it just causes issues for those who do have a lot of plugins.  Manually load the ones you want one at a time.

The character system itself should not cause any loading delay. That is mostly resolving memory patterns and loading files from disk. We are working on improving reload speed by caching data externally and hope to have most of that work done in the next update. As for your texture-redraw issue, that is caused by reloading certain map components when loading LSPDFR to ensure the multiplayer map is loaded. I will see if we can instead detect whether it is already loaded instead and skip that step.

0.4.1 all sounds great if you want to use it as a stand alone program, but us over the pond want a different feel to it, I fear its just to complex for our uses? Have to say not even tried it yet because of the complexity and for making you tube videos, I can't see the gains of it? I could be completely wrong and talking out of my arse, but if it isn't broke, I'm reluctant to fix it get my drift.

Wrong. The majority of users/YouTubers (including myself) commonly use custom ped mods in our videos, and it would be nice if the feature could just be disabled regarding character customisation. Such a small change but a lot of impact to power users.

Great to hear. Would appreciate if the feature could be toggled (at least set to true as default) for different users as IMO it just causes unnecessary usage of memory/CPU for an unused feature.  At the moment, character changing causes me to lose my partners (that I've spawned in Menyoo) and I have to enable them as a partner again, as well as losing my load out and creating potential texture loss.

Have you tried creating preset characters?  You can use custom ped models there, although you might wish to consider using custom outfits instead of custom ped models.
