I am trying to unlock the last part of Liberty City I need, both for the achievement and to increase my patrol route when I launch LCPDFR. I am currently trying to unlock Alderny which means having to do the Bank Robbery mission. However, GTA IV always crashes during this mission and I am, obviously, unable to complete it. Sometimes it'll crash before I rob the bank, other times it'll crash after I have robbed it and am fighting through the army of police and NoOSE officers. It doesn't tell me why it crashes, it just says 'GTA IV has stopped working' which is frustrating. I can't patrol Alderny without completing it. I know I could patrol it by visiting a police station in another part of the city and driving there, but having done that once already, I received no call-outs whilst doing so. Has anyone else here experienced this issue but has found a way to remedy it? If so, could you please share it with me? I had thought of the Diagnostic Tool, but I believe that only finds faults within LCPDFR and not GTA IV itself.

Note: I posted this in the GTA IV Support section as it has nothing to do with LCPDFR. It is the game that is crashing during the mission. If this is somehow in the wrong place, I apologise. Please do not give me negative reputation for it. I did do a search for other topics covering this issue but I found nothing.

you might wanna try disabling the AI in the ELS.ini

There is always one mission that always crashes when you mod the game(for me at least). One thing you might want to look at is the xliveless.dll. It disables GFWL and it allows you to drag and drop save games into it. If you really want to play the mission, play it on a backup directory of GTA 4.

Yes, I do. My police cruisers have been modified to share the appearance with that of LAPD cruisers.

Won't that cause more problems? Surely if I disable the AI, there will be no police response to the robbery?

It's not a case of wanting to play the mission, but more of a case of needing to in order to progress, both within the storyline and LCPDFR. It could be argued that I don't need to unlock Alderny before I can drive there, as I've been able to before. However, that was only when LCPDFR was active because I was a police officer and not deemed a terrorist, so was able to go over without getting a 6 star wanted level. I will however try your suggestion Asuna and I will edit this post in an hour or so to inform you of my progress.

Remove the car mods, I'll explain:

During the Three Leaf Clover mission, the games spawns a lot of police cars to respond to the bank.

This affects the video memory severly if you have car mods for the police vehicles, so remove them and use the original cars and then it should work.

Thank you. I was just about to edit my post to say that I was going to do that. However, I didn't make a backup copy of the default vehicles.img and I don't know how to uninstall the modified cars. They shared the same names as the default ones. So, if anybody knows where I can get a default copy of vehicles.img I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for posting the link but those files are only for version 1.0.4.0 of GTA IV and I am running 1.0.7.0. Will it still work?

Edit: I downloaded the required file but it for some reason required burning to a CD. Unless I am missing something, isn't that a long way for a shortcut? Burning it onto a CD just to take it off of the CD to place it in the folder?

The same problem happened to me a while ago and i done what was suggested in this post and it worked for me. However if it does not work for you and you have Simple Native Trainer there should be a option to unlock all islands just do it that way. The only down side to that is that you have to do it everytime you load the game ;o( but it should work and i'm sorry i couldn't be as helpfull as the other guy's ;o)

The file you downloaded is an .img file. Yes, that file format is also used to burn CDs, however in R*s, that is the file that contains all the vehicle models. In this case you do not need to touch (extract, open or burn) that file. Just copy it, and replace the one in Grand Theft Auto IV/pc/models/cdimages
