Would you say this pc works well for IV and other games?

Recommended Posts

As you can see on this topic, I really want a pc that can play GTA IV nicely, but I also want other games on it to work. Would you say that this computer would do the job?

P.S. My mom gets a 18% discount,so that makes it about $730 - $740! :)

Looks good, i can say that it will be able to run GTA 4 with almost all settings maxed. When it comes to other modern games, it will probably run everything high/ maxed for the most part. But honestly, you could probably make a better computer on newegg for that price.

Dude your getting a dell!

I rather take that 18% discount and get or build something.

For the price that system should have a better GPU & more information on the power supply & motherboard.

If you are interested in other options or vendors and not wanting to build yourself. I would suggest you look into possibly buying from Costco (90 day return, 2 year warranty) picking their ZT Systems (assembled in the U.S., little bloatware, comes with Windows disc). Or powernotebooks, despite their name, they now carry desktops. Look up their reviews on resellerratings. And always, you can look at Newegg & Amazon (or other retailers).

Hope this helps. Best of luck with your new system.

Dell make their own MoBo's...

Dell does not make their own motherboards, they do contract out to other motherboard manufactures and/or have boards made specifically for them (most of time, this is a proprietary board for a case).

Just like almost all of the major PC brands out there, no-one makes all the parts (most don't even make some of the parts) in their cases. Dell contracts out for either white label (no label/resellable) items or for the product to made to certain specifications . Once Dell acquires all the pieces from different vendors, they assemble them and offer them with support/warranty.

That's what I meant, they aren't branded and it's often hard to find details about the MoBo's in the specs on the site,

The "red flag" for that system is the Radeon HD 7570. With that, I would think that you can run the game only on medium settings smoothly, and that goes for most PC-oriented games made in 2011 and 2012, also (Battlefield 3 or Max Payne 3, for example) . In my opinion, for gaming, the processor is kind of overkill, but you can't configure that, unfortunately.

"Red flag"? What is that? I could run a GTX 550 ti (and maybe a GTX 560 ti) on my PC and it's an XPS 8300. I was told here that my it should run just fine, and then I showed them my GPU. 6450 OEM.

I think you should buy something better, maybe switch to an XPS 8300 and buy a better GPU, that's what I did, but I upgraded my RAM and memory.

Red Flag, means problem, or flaw. meaning the only problem with that system is the GPU.

cpu is kinda overkill, true. Anyway, you shouldn't choose the 7770 though, for the price you can better configure one yourself. This is fine for what you want at this point, it's not extreme its fine  .
