Why is the Emergency/Emergency-Planet community cancerous?

Featured Replies

Every time I go onto emergency-planet, there always seems to be a new mod that will NEVER be released to the public. Lately i've been asking myself has the community always been like this ? or did something change.

From what I've heard, there have been heavy problems with people taking models without crediting the creators or something, not sure.

Model locking also isn't possible with EM4 models,

but if refusing to release mods and screwing over all the honest users is a right decision then? well...

I can confirm Em4 had a lot of problems with mods stealing, problem of Rights, etc. Espcially, as 11john11 said, with models (And with scripts too).

As an exemple in my country (France), we had a lot of mods scheduled, but only 10% of them are "finished". We had so many problems between each developpement's team...

Today, there is only 2 french mod still in development. A few others are finished but with a lot of bugs, features missing...

I can understand the trouble with the whole "Using mods and not giving credit" issue but when creators "Showcase" their mod that isnt going to be released that annoys me, and im sure i'm not the only one.

Then, perhaps,  you could be able to explain why does it annoy anyone at all? I saw this pattern of thinking even here on LCPDFR site, when someone it the gallery shows a nice car, says it's for internal use only and receives some negative replies. Always puzzled me why.

Well, it's actually against the guidelines on here, though people rather complain in the comments instead of actually reporting it, it seems.

I second this.  I understand being proud of what you made and wanting others to see it, but if you're not releasing it, don't be showing it off.  It's not fair to dangle an amazing mod in front of the community then say "nope!"  (This is also how I feel about paid mods.)

This.  If we had more reports and less comment complaints the image would get taken down quicker.  Can't take down what we aren't aware of.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Because mods are meant to be for everyone. Keeping mods private kills the community. Honestly people need to stop caring about credit, and just release everything they make (this includes dev parts). Modding is supposed to be fun, but exclusivity literally kills fun. What is the point of keeping it private? Why not make people happy?

I'm not a mod maker and probably will never be (I'm dumb like a stone), and if I were I would probably release my mods to everyone just because it's always more exciting to make gifts rather than play myself.

But in general, well, the mod might be too raw, too undeveloped, the creator might have lost his interest... The list could go on and on. Honestly I believe telling mod makers what to do is purely ungrateful. Those people brought us LC/LSPDFR, RDE, I forgot how many mods for GTA IV, even more for GTA V, and everything is free of charge.

If we talking about just showing off publicly something you never meant to release in the first place, that's something else though.

I agree and disagree with you. Granted if it's unfinished then don't release it. But at the same time someone will enjoy it. I also agree it shouldn't get to the point of greed. But if you remember that '03 Tahoe wanting that to be released isn't being greedy. I mainly say this as we have nothing else like it. Same thing with the '03 Impalas. And much frustration from the community is all due to one selfish man who doesn't want people to have fun.

I think this topic has run it's course. If this stays open any longer then it'll turn into a flamewar over who keeps what private especially when it's starting to involve our community. (as i can see starting to happen).

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me
