Beginner computer

Recommended Posts

Alright... well I keep watching youtube more and more about lspdfr, and I won't to finally get into it...

But all I have right now is a laptop and I know it won't hold for the game, I have it downloaded now and just played the first mission and it's very laggy.

so I plan on taking the game and sending it to a external hard drive, and going to buy a laptop.. I don't have a lot to spend and not really looking for the best...

but I would like some input on desktops and what I should be looking for.. What's a good beginner desktop, all I plan on using it for is to play lspdfr, and my wife's work/schooling if she doesn't want to use her laptop.....

any help is appreciated and looking forward to speaking with yall.

Looking to between 4-700... cheaper is always better, I don't plan on playing that much because I still have my xboxs, but I want to start playing this without having too much lag and what not...

thanks

so to play gta 5 you will need adleast 8gb of RAM, as just a starting point.

My next question is, do you want it to look beautiful?  What FPS will you be shooting for here? This will determine the next things in your build. If you dont care how it runs, you can but the lowest things to run it and be happy, but if you want it to look nice and run nice then you will be spending some more money.

I'm new to the computer world sir, so please forgive my ignorance. I'd like to just play and not be laggy and have half of the screen or foreground missing like it does in my laptop..

Just looking for recommendations, I don't plan on this being my livelihood but would like some decent graphics and a good time playing.

I'm more of a xbox dude but love the lspdfr shit haha

That wouldnt be a bad starter computer at all. I have a 1070, and a shitty CPU and I can run gta just fine, so that should do the trick :D. see if anyone else has any input though.

Wat about cyberpower units? I see hit and miss reviews on them.

Oh definitely, they are designed for gaming. But, if you are looking for a cheaper desktop, the one you provided should do it.

This definitely isn't a bad starting computer. However, I always recommend people building their own computers rather than buying it pre-built. You tend to get a better bang for your buck. But since this isn't going to be your primary gaming system (from what I've heard you say), going with a pre-built might not be that bad.

Something to think about though, if you are wanting this to be your primary gaming system you might want to save up a little more money and get you one that will last longer and perform a little better. But don't get me wrong, the one you posted will perform great for the things you are wanting to do.

If you are interested in building your own computer a great site to look on is PCPartPicker - they have recommended builds based on price range. If not, it is completely understandable as the one you provided would be a great starter desktop.

Yeah, let me try and explain to my wife I want to spend 1000 dollars on a computer that I just want to use to play games most of the time on, haaha. . She hates video games...

So I may just got for the hp omen, I am reading reviews on the cyperpower desktop right now and I don't see much bad reviews on that either. especially for what I do, lol.

Haha, totally understandable. CyberPowerPC's are good too, just make sure you stay around the same specs as the HP or higher.

This would still be able to run GTA V fine, but as you can probably tell from the price it's a little lower in specs than the HP.

To compare both of them real quick, we can look at the CPU's.

HP - i5-7400 - I don't know much about this processor since it just came out this year, but I generally prefer Intel processors over AMD so I'm sure it will work great.

CyberPowerPC - AMD FX 4300 - This processor came out in 2012. It's not a bad processor for what you're looking to do and I'm sure will work fine, but the benchmarkings aren't the greatest on it when compared to the i5-7400.

As far as the Graphic's Cards go, with the HP's graphics card you'll have 3GB of Video Memory whereas the AMD one you'll have 2GB. Here's some benchmarks for both of them: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1060-3GB-vs-AMD-RX-460/3646vs3641.

The HDD and RAM are the same in both builds, but the CyberPowerPC lacks a CD Drive (if you need it).

In my opinion, if you can afford the HP (or convince your wife) I would go with that, but if not the CyberPowerPC will still be a good option, just compared with the HP it won't be as fast.

gonna put the game on a external hard drive and run it off of that.

You do realize that you won't be able to run the game off of that external "hard drive", right?  This is a USB 3.0 device which will only allow you to store things.  Not sure what you're reasoning is for getting it.  If you're short on space, you can dump pictures/videos or anything else onto the external drive to create room for GTA 5 on your local HD.

He should get a USB, get a 64gb one you can just carry around in your pocket and have plenty of storage.

I'm running the game off of a external SSD drive currently and don't have much issues. the graphics aren't the best but it's because of the computer. Haven't had it crashed yet.
