No aslong as you have two different folder or gta v copied. So one is for you to play multiplayer ans the other one is for mos

Would i switch the folders in and out of my steam library depending on which i played?

So copy everything from the modded folder and create another one somewhere and drop it there.

reinstall gta v in a different folder, a folder that is not in the modded gta. Reinstall because it will decrease your chances of getting banned

So just have two folders basically?

How long does that file transfer take?

Reinstall if your previous game files is modded

Ok, so, im asking what i should do BEFORE i mod.

My game folder is clean right now. I just want to be safe when i do install the mod.

What should i do?

Make a copy of my current game folder and switch between modded/unmodded?

poor explanation

Yes make a copy and mod that copy files. The copy files should be in a different folder and a different disk for space efficiency

Transferring folders won't get you banned.

You can have two folders in your C drive, just name one "Grand Theft Auto V vanilla" (the one that isn't modded) and the one that is modded "Grand Theft Auto V" however in order for it to work you'll need to rename the folders each time you want to use the other folder (if you want to use the vanilla you'll have to add modded to your modded folder and remove vanilla from the other one).

and yes, mods can decrease preformance the more you mod the more FPS will drop. (especially if your PC isn't that great)

I have

i5-4690k@ 4Ghz

1070 g1 gaming

16Gb DDR3 memory

And yes that is what i thought, just swap the folders depending on what i play.

Thanks for the clarification <3

It should be fine, although depending on the mods (script mods tend to cause the most FPS drop). I notice on mine (and it's a very high end system) that i get the occasional FPS drop while playing modded.

Just make sure you never enter online with a modded game as that will get you banned. So always make sure your game is running off your vanilla directory before launching online

Is there a way to make it so i dont need to wait for a 8 minute file transfer each time?

Nope. the file transfer only needs to be once, Just copy and paste the where you GTA V is installed to (so you have two Grand Theft Auto V folders) then you can just rename them.

the file transfer should just be once (the copy+paste process)

Ohhhhh.

So by switching the names of the files i will switch which folder the game runs off of?

That will put my SSD at 3 gigs free space. Can that effect performance?

yes. Say i have a modded GTA directory and use that it will be called "Grand Theft Auto V" so the game can run off it. If i wish to play online i will have to rename my modded directory to "Grand Theft Auto V modded" and re-name the vanilla directory to "Grand Theft Auto V" and vice versa

It may work, i don't have an SSD. Generally performance issues come down to 3 things, RAM, CPU or GPU.

I was getting on average 35-45fps after all mods had loaded (Albos arrest manager was the one causing most of the fps drop)

But it seems to have fixed itself this afternoon; I was locked at 59-60fps for about 3hrs. Now I will try not to touch anything

until the end of time in hopes it stays this way. Or I may have just cursed myself....... eek
