I cannot get any vehicles installed

Featured Replies

Ok so I have watched multiple videos to try and understand how to install vehicles including Jeff Favianos. I have downloaded a couple of vehicles to install and I cant get them working, I installed a crown vic in police slot 4 and the default vehicle loads. I really dont understand how to folder structure of the game works

Theres the following folders

x64  to W

Update

Mods

I am using OpenIV as everyone has suggested I really don't know what I am doing wrong and am at the point of giving up and finding something else to play as I've spent 4 hours on this now.....

Can someone please shed some light on what I might be doing wrong/

The folder structure in the game is as followed:

Rockstar made all the vehicles (non-dlc) at the launch of GTA V. Those files are located in the x64e folder. After that, Rockstar made small changes to some vehicles. Let's say that they made the 'POLICE 1' car at the launch, and around the 3rd dlc, they saw that a wheelcap was missing. Rockstar updated the model, and put the new vehicle file in the next dlc, dlc 3. The game is coded the way that the game listens to the car in the latest folder, so it listens to the car in (in our case) dlc 3. That's the one you've got to replace.

What I suggest is this: In OpenIV, press ctrl+F3. This is the advanced search option. In there, type the car you want, I.E. police4.ytd. Don't forget to put ".ytd or .yft" behind it, otherwise you'll get a bunch of in this case useless files.

The police4 files are now listed in the search window. Look for the latest DLC directory in the search results, and replace the car in that particular folder (copied to your mods folder, I strongly recommend).

I hope this little lesson in Gta V 101 helped you a bit.

Any further questions, please ask me :)

I have a problem with downloaded cars.

The vehicles show up fine in the game, but the sirens don't show up when I switch them on.

I put the XML files in the ELS folder but they still don't seem to work.

I'm not sure if I have the folder in the right place

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V

That's where I put the folder, is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. Are you putting the XML files in the folder called Pack default?

Yes.

I put them in the ELS folder and the pack default at first because I wasn't sure and just to be on the safe side.

I don't know if I'm unlucky that I just downloaded 2 bad files

It's these I downloaded

I'm certain that these are good mods. I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong here

Ok i've tried and I can't work it out. I noticed in some videos that those people had the X64e.rpf file in their mods folder when mine didn't seem to have it so I placed a copy of this file in the mods folder and added the vehicle to this file but it still doesn't work.

I am trying to use the police2 slot. I've searched as suggested previously and over written any police2 files in the patchday folders within the mods folder.

Its as though RH isn't taking any notice of my mods folder. If anyone has anymore suggestions I am all ears otherwise i'll find something else to play.

Did you use the latest patchday folder with the highest number?

You didn't even bother reading the pinned post in this section of the forum... It's posts like these that come up all the time that put people who have issues which have not occured before down to the bottom.

Read the whole post. The installation subheading is what you need, but reading the whole post will make you understand things better.

Put the vehicles in the LATEST patchday folder even if they are not already there. Drag and drop.

And. ALWAYS READ PINNED POSTS BEFORE SUBMITTING A TOPIC. It will only save you time if your issue is known...

I've just tried as that pinned article suggested and it still doesn't work. I'm sorry if I didn't read that pinned article but I have now got information overload trying to resolve this, I've had many different suggestions and even people telling me I need script hook V when LSPDFR doesn't require it and there is no mention of it being required in the vehicles readme notes.

Sorry if I have wasted peoples time, I'm done trying and will find something else to play as I've now spent 2 days trying to get this to work.

Thanks for everyones help.
